I completely forgot to comment when I first saw this, but yes, it's looking awesome :) I'm liking the added gameplay elements... can't wait!

BTW, everyone is on this kick about 'Metroidvania', when personally I think of it as 'Blaster Masterania', being that was my first NES cartridge and one of my favorite games of all time. I'm really looking forward to playing this.

Gameplay looks pretty great, and if there's anywhere near as many branches as in Weapon of Choice, this'll be pretty damn replayable too.

My only gripe is the voicework. Either go text-only (maybe with blippy voice-ish sounds, ala Starfox), or hire some proper voice actors. Bad voicework is often worse than no voicework at all.

Weapon of Choice, and now this!? It's like a kick in the pants after a kick in the pants. More tried-and-true classic gameplay with modern accoutrements, and voice acting too.... 2D has never looked more promising!
