I think what you are REALLY reaching at is to push DIFFERENT values. In particular, the liberal sensability to preserve the rare things in life like ethnic heritage and history.
Where the rubber meets the road is when you have to PRIORITIZE. For example, does my safety come before your human rights. Does my loved one's safety come before your human rights?
Cooperation and peace fall apart when human narratives collide. This is when VALUES become important. It is not simply lib/cons.
