Beautiful Wolf Cub! For all you people that think you own wolves or hybrids (some of you actually do, but many are bs), pls look at the muzzle length and angle on this cub. It does not have a flat front like a dog. Look at the long legs and the angles of the joints. Look at the angle of the eyes. This one is real. No doubt. If you don't see some of these features, you don't have a wolf.
After reintroducing wolves into Yellowstone, their mucked up ecosystem corrected itself once no long overrun with herbivores eating all the saplings. Alberta want to slaughter it's wolves on behalf of the atrocity called the Tar Sands.. Corporatism will be the death of us all.
@MoonKittyArtist i've had a wolf hybrid - you don't want one unless you take the time and trouble to get yourself educated. start with a regular dog - if you can raise a dog with success - that means a well-manner dog who is not aggressive, behaves, and is polite to others - you might be able to manage a hybrid.
trust me: with a wolf, the potential for catastrophe is too high and it'll be the wolf pays the price if you get it wrong.

@MoonKittyArtist no - once you have a wolf or a dog, you have it for life. a wolf raised in a home and then released to the wild wouldn't last a week - if the first farmer or hunter he approached as a friend didn't shoot him, the other wolves would destroy him because he doesnt' have a clue about their language or customs. lone wolves are outlaw - killed on sight by pack wolves.
rather than true wolf, get the best of both worlds: get one of the dogs from the ancient breeds.

@MoonKittyArtist not bred to chase sheep - they've actually been bred to retain the wolf pack hunting behaviour but without the instinct to kill. they've been taught to work out patterns and even rationalize. they have the IQ roughly equivalent to a 4yr old human child (which i can attest - mine is so smart it's scary!)

@YuckyAppleTree try rewarding him when he's quiet and ignoring him when he's howling. Then take him somewhere away from your place and have "howl time" together when it's OK. Teach him that there's a time and place when to howl...
@wiredforsuccess Thanks! It seems to be working so far. I tell him a firm 'NO' when he howls, and when he stops when I tell him, I give him a treat. I also took him in the car up to an old logging road and found a closed campground and let him off with music playing in the car, and he howled along with the music. Looked like he had the time of his life!
@YuckyAppleTree It's their instinct, that's like training a human not to talk.. You might be able to hinder his howling but it'll definitely hard to stop him from doing it permanently.. Kind of sad, too.
@BRADM69 He's not doing too badly... he's only 5 months old, and only a quarter wolf. His father was a hybrid, so he's only got a bit of wolf in him, though he takes after his father so badly!

where can I rescue a wolf? I wouldnt want to steal a puppy wolf or live in the woods for generations until one finally came up to me. i own a rescue preserve for wolves. i love them we have a whole bunch thousands of acres for them to run they think im the alpha female. ur cub is soooo cute i love the vid.
I just adopted a wolf-hybrid puppy. I find him far easier to train and teach than a regular dog. He understands correction and is sharp as a whip when picking up on new things. The best part I must admit is that unlike a regular dog, he can read my body language and my tone of voice so communication with him is a breeze for me!
I am very interested in having a pet wolf. I love animals and find wolves fascinating. I was wondering if you had any advice to offer to someone who has just started this new interest as I do not know much yet (where to find pet wolves, how to raise them, etc...). I would like to learn.
well the universal ingredient that works for ALL living things on this planet is LOVE. When you treat everything and everyone with love and respect you get back the same.. Simple laws of nature. Yes obviously humans can live with wolves. We do, as demonstrated on all our videos. They are generally smarter then dogs, have more complex needs like diet, living space, exercise, etc... So a commitment to that and prepartion BEFORE hand is wise...

What we've done to the wolf population in wisconsin alone is sick. This is a happy healthy canine. Though I think they do enjoy cold weather and you might not want to have one in florida. here in wisconsin it's common to have mixes. I had a wolf malamute mix.
no one ever "owns" a wolf. I have had the pleasure of caring for two in my life. one who lived to be 18 and the other who is now just turning 5. There are two wolves who live in a mans heart. They fight like enemies constantly because one is good and the other is evil. Eventually the wolves tire and the end draws near and the man wonders which one wins over the other. He learns that the winner is whichever one he feeds the most.

where can I rescue a wolf? I wouldnt want to steal a puppy wolf or live in the woods for generations until one finally came up to me. (though I consider it sometimes) I love the nature between man and wolf. Sometimes I dream Im an old and almost bedridden man who lived his life somewhere deep in the arboreal forests and theres this loyal young wolf who protects me and brings me fresh meat to cook in exchange for my friendship and I feel like any second im going to die, but its not bad. Thank you

@MrTex1987 Oh and the dying part is always there but it is never bad but comforting because I know my best friend is always near. I have these dreams a few times a year for as long as I can remember (it happened after I read that book "The Hatchet" by Gary Paulson) I understood the wild part in me that is in all of us. Ive learned that like a wild dog it protects everything around it when I love it for what it is. And when I get angry at it I always do something really stupid like steal or harm.

i own a rescue preserve for wolves. i love them we have a whole bunch thousands of acres for them to run they think im the alpha female. ur cub is soooo cute i love the vid.

I just adopted a wolf-hybrid puppy. I find him far easier to train and teach than a regular dog. He understands correction and is sharp as a whip when picking up on new things. The best part I must admit is that unlike a regular dog, he can read my body language and my tone of voice so communication with him is a breeze for me!

well the universal ingredient that works for ALL living things on this planet is LOVE. When you treat everything and everyone with love and respect you get back the same.. Simple laws of nature. Yes obviously humans can live with wolves. We do, as demonstrated on all our videos. They are generally smarter then dogs, have more complex needs like diet, living space, exercise, etc... So a commitment to that and prepartion BEFORE hand is wise...

What we've done to the wolf population in wisconsin alone is sick. This is a happy healthy canine. Though I think they do enjoy cold weather and you might not want to have one in florida. here in wisconsin it's common to have mixes. I had a wolf malamute mix.

no one ever "owns" a wolf. I have had the pleasure of caring for two in my life. one who lived to be 18 and the other who is now just turning 5. They are wonderful creatures. sweet and loyal if raised with love and understanding of what they are. to all the folks making negative comments... you just don't understand.

@kakudevon Humans are no better than any other living creature. We are all equal, we live, eat, breathe, breed, and die. Of course there has to be order, there has to be an alpha. But that doesn't make you better than them, that makes you a leader of them, so that there is order, loyalty, and respect. I'm not trying to make an arguement, I'm just giving you another view to look at. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be watching this pup howl :)
