Nonono, I think you're mistaken. A high-end MacBook simply cannot compare to a low-end Alienware.

If you can get your hands on an expensive MacBook Pro with the highest specs, that's wonderful, and more power to you. However a PC with the same exact specs would literally cost half that, and even less if you're building your own.

Now it's $99 a year. It's not worth paying that just to get a discount on a Mac. You might as well just get the education discount.

The problem with this whole strategy is that anyone who is eligible for the $99 student developer membership is also eligible for the education discount, which is nearly identical for the more affordable apple products, and without the $99 fee. The student developer membership discount only ends up being cheaper if you're buying one of the higher-end products.
