2 Cinema ad's i just cant find are the 'Mega Cone' (dodgey animation with someone shoving a ice cream in Judge Deredd's face), and old Barclays ad (where the guy says to his boss YOU MUST BE CRAZY and he just sits and laughs)... Anyone seen these?
ahhh the kia ora ad reminds me of the early 00's / late 90s ads that played in cinemas, before it was ALL trailers >.< the late onset sound, the nice, only-play-in-cinema ads, all of it. i wish i was around in the 80s, even if i was born in 85 or something :)
Dear Friend with great wishes I liked your upload cigarettes commercial Friend I am missing that magical and so beautiful commercial of Man's demand capstan cigarette which was made in I think in 4 countries. I have seen that commercial when i was 8 years of age and now I am 44 years of age and not seen again. I am so impatient to see that again. Kindly friend upload this or give me link of that commercial it reminds me my beautiful days of childhood. with regards Shakeel sunny Pakistan
Mmmmm, I can well imagine eating ice cream or hot dogs under a thick pall of cigarette smoke. But don't worry, because the left-hand half of the auditorium is non-smoking - just tell the smoke not to drift! I'm sure it all added to the atmosphere though (pun intended!) I love these ads. A bit young to remember the intermission properly (at 40!) but do remember the ads being slightly raunchier than on TV. I think it would be well worth you getting a professional transfer of these films.
The usherettes selling the Kia-Ora with a straw and the individual tubs of ice cream with a horrible wooden spoon that used to give me goose bumps when I put it in my mouth it was all spongy and horrible. Intermissions, those really age you! Anyone for a Mivi? LOL
I work at a theatre where we have brought back the intermission! We have a small feature, then an intermission before the main screening. Even when there's a double feature, there's an intermission... so, the whole intermission thing isn't dead - not yet anyway! :-)
Thanks! I remember many of these adverts! Especially the David Nixon one and the one before that. I want a Lyons Maid ice cream now! And that Kia-ora orange drink in the plastic cups that always tasted of plastic!
and OMG PETER BLAKE - from Lip smackin thirst quenchin ace tasting motavatingood buzzin cool talkin high walking fast livin evergivincool fizzin pepsi!!! fame!!!!
Period pieces. I can't say I like the voiceover and music in the first ad but it's a long time since I've heard Coca Cola marketed as "the Real Thing". Interesting to see the gentlemanly David Nixon who seems to be forgotten nowadays. KP stopped pushing it about the protein content of their nuts a long time ago. They probably went on about the protein in their nuts so as people wouldn't think about the very high fat content in peanuts.
Boy that would have been nice to have someone bring you a snack to your seat in the movies here. We call them popsicles here what you call Ice Lollies.
Strange, I must say. Never even heard of Kia-Ora Stateside. Besides, I'm sure if the first ad featured here was shown in this country, the imagery would have caused an uproar.
Intermissions do happen from time to time even today (the last Pirates film had one) but these intermission filmlets you see here were before the "main feature". There would always be a support (older) feature or at the very least a 25 minute short film before the intermission. The intermissions were dropped after all the short films were stopped in 1986. Then the intermissions faded into obsurity.
You had the adverts and the trailers ( which you still do) at the start of the film then halfway through the film you whould have the intermission. Im like you i never really saw a intermission in a film in the u.k. cinemas the only time i ever saw it was when i went to amsterdam on holiday about 6 years ago and went to a cinema in the town centre they had a 10 minute intermission there.
Half way through because the projectors were so old they could only fit half the film on so in the intermission they would use the other projector for the ads and swap the film round in the main one
Great Job! Only remember the first two, but an imporovement on the previous up, don't suppose you could rapidshare the original video of the first one?

We did, briefly, in 2007 when Tarantino released Grindhouse. And that movie flopped big time.
