My point is simple.

The Holy Spirit does what Prophets used to do.

There is no longer a need to have Prophets.

When Jesus ascended to Heaven He said He would send us the "Comforter"..the Holy Spirit.

Now that we have an internal witness to God's truth we don't need Prophets.

I personally have never had to listen to a Prophet when the Bible already says what God wants, who He is and why.

What President Hinckley said lines up with Latter Day Saint doctrine and I know he was a prophet of God. Regardless of "legs being chopped off" this is a time of much to be thankful for. If one sits down and thinks about it, I don't care what situation you are in.... God loves and cares for his children, and you can find that in your life if you will but count your blessings. We as latter day Saints find hope and joy in our Savior Jesus Christ and the anticipation of a glorious reunion with Him.

Every person on this Earth is BLESSED. They may not consider themselves to be blessed by society's standards, but happiness can be found in any situation.
