  • DO A BARREL ROLL...OH GOD I IMMEDIATELY REGRET THAT DECISION!!! Looks like I get to fly the P-3 and -8. The transition kinda sucks cause I gotta learn how to operate UIII, AIP, and soon P-8 equipment for my squadron in two years. Still it is cool to have a little versatility.

  • Thanks for posting this. Very informative!

  • I know the video is from 2002 but VP-20? VP-20 hasn't existed since 1949. Maybe VP-30?

I did 2 tours in P-3s as a Crewman from 99-06, man I miss them.

  • 466mph? I'll have to check that out....

  • I get to see these things every summer. Not at an airshow, but flying over my back yard dumping flame retardant on fires.

  • I was in VP-26 in Brunswick, Maine. You could always tell when someone was working on the line on one as the heat exchanger fans gave off a distinctive whine.

We deployed all over. Lajes had to be the most boring, but cheapest place to deploy.

I wish the Military Channel would do a segment on P-3's on the show Great Planes!

  • The P-3C is more manueverable than I thought!!!

  • I just hate fueling this thing. shit goes way too slow.

  • Legendary!

  • i hate them...

    VP47 here kaneohe, HI

yes i fly on them as a AW

  • Ha! Anyone else notice the music from "The Final Countdown"? Awesome!

  • Pretty sporty flying for an airliner based airframe...

  • Wow! You can actually see the wing bend down at 0.48 when down elevator is applied!

  • my name is orion

  • i see this plane fly all the time around at Homestead Air Reserve Base

  • Only people who get excited about P3's are those of us who worked on them!

  • That's so true! I worked on them for 4 years--God I miss that sound.

  • @jcd351 Oh not true! Those of us who wish we could fly them but are too young to make it before they are replaced by the P-8 get excited as well. I have stood off the flightline at Whidbey Island NAS for hours watching P-3 ops and dreaming of flying them. So sad they are being replaced. My dad was in the Navy too.

  • P3s remind me of my tour in Keflavik. I miss that place.
