  • Jazz I congratulate you on your video production is excellent, it has good video quality, pleasant voice, video presentation or introduction to the excellent, nice song, excellent production in short, you're a professional.

  • You said 11-12 grams of salt for a 2 liter bottle, but you put 9 grams of salt into your 2 liter bottle? This video has helped allot in any case, thanks...

  • I thought you should strain the shrimp first as not to add dirty salt water to your tank...

  • CAn shrimp hatch in fresh water.

  • thanks for the vid.. really helps..^^

  • I got a old sea monkey thing that I'm using with some brine shrimp eggs and I put salt in there with a air stone by the window anything else I should do

  • yup, it worked but I didn't yeild as many bbs as I was hoping.

  • hi, may I know which type of salt can be use to hatch the BBS? is the salt use for cooking is suitable?

  • aren't you supposed to use sea salt? I'm gonna try this method except I'm using sea salt. thanks for uploading. Cheers.

  • @BTC141 Did the sea salt work?? I would love to know !

  • Thx it worked

  • Love you angelfish videos now this now what do you do with all tho angelfish?

  • @junelsh you can get them at most pet stores that sell tropical fish

  • That small amount of salt water won't effect your fish. In fact many people add salt to Cichlid tanks.

You do need to be careful that you don't let water go back into the pump. It should be higher than the water level.

Great video, I just finished building my first hatchery!

  • what to feed brine shrimp?

  • where to buy the brine shrimp eggs?

  • Arent the Artemia saltwater creatures?

That means u most filter out the saltwater before?

    Or i dont now... :P

  • Nice, but U forgot to filter out the saltwater before feeding. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

  • does the salt effect newborn fresh water fish?

  • very informative video!, can i use baking soda powder instead of pil ?

  • In a small tank will the table salt in the harvest affect the fish ?

  • very good video....gracias por el video...

  • Wow. That was incredible.

  • the fish at the end are so happy when you give the shrimp to them!

  • Nice video

  • Your videos are the most informative and awesome videos i have ever seen on youtube keep it up :D YAY GO AUSSIES!!!

  • Your videos are the most informative and awesome videos i have ever seen on youtube keep it up :D

  • Owsum

  • wait! but you forgot to rinse em!

  • Wow, this is amazing. I've watched some of your other videos on angelfish breeding too. Even though these videos are instructions on breeding shrimp, they're very well made (very clear) and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them. They have good quality, and very nice visuals.

  • Fantastic Video and your instructions are fool proof!! I know.... as I made one of these following your guide and the hatchery is brilliant!!! NO sealant needed!! The whole cost of this lot was about £9 (uk) not inc the shrimp eggs. I set it off and running with no heat and 36 hrs later I was feeding my baby newt larvae freshly hatched shrimps! Which is absolutely brill cos its super hard to get food so tiny for critters so tiny. THANK YOU Jazzy

  • the batch of babies at the end are gorgeous

  • Really like this video :) I notice you just pour them out to the fishs right away. Is that okay even if they come from salt water?

Been thinking about that for along while and heard I need to wash them. Then thinking about cures when you ad a little salt to the water, and how this is probably significantly less salt than in a cure.

  • you sir.. are my hero

  • Really nice video!! How long will the shrimps stay alive after hatched? Can you feed them with something so if u make a big batch they will stay alive and grow much longer

  • Well done again, very informative and you make it so easy. So have you written a book yet, cause I would buy it. I'm going to breed my blushing angels and your vids have taken away my fears of giving it a go. Just one question I gather with raising fry that you would need 2 to 3 brine shrimp set ups? Cheers.

  • Great vid! inspired me to give it a go, will try daphnia culture next. Thanks for sharing.

  • bi-carb stuff is baking soda by the way

  • Hi Jazzy78910,

Do you know if the same process can be used but without the salt for hatching freshwater fairy shrimp?

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • how long can i keep the shirmp for to feed my fish ?

  • do i need to put it under a source of light?

  • What else can i feed my baby angelfish if i dont have any brine shrimp eggs?

  • what was that brown thing?

  • how come the water doesn't pass through that small hole inside that suction cap attached with the pipe! doesn't the water get through that hole

  • the water just goes str8 down the airline?

  • I just found out my guppies are pregnant

  • please tell me the title of this song

    please..

  • Thankyouuu for making this .. youv just made my college assignment sooo much easier ! lol

  • Thankyouuu... you'v just made my assignment soo much easier lol

  • Thanks for a well made, informative video!

  • Has anyone else noticed that people are coping him on youtube

  • I would really love to know where/how exactly you buy your eggs. I tried eBay but Im sure I can't buy them unless the seller is in Australia. Also Amazon wouldn't send to Australia. Eggs sell for $11 for 6 grams in my local fish shop, so I would love to buy them cheaper if i could.

  • @ismellpoo83 Never mind I found and bought some on ebay.com.au

  • To much work. Just put an air stone (hosed to an air pump) in an uncut bottle and it's done.

  • can some 1 please tell me where to buy brine shrimp eggs ???

  • love your vids man

  • Where can i buy some brine shrimp eggs?

  • Would a kuhli loach eat them

  • could i grow them bigger 4 fun like for 3 days

  • Where I live is hot at the moment and I can't keep my water below 32*C. Will they hatch at all at this temperature or would I just be wasting my time? thanks

  • In my experience regular marine salt like is used for salt water aquariums is the best. It does not have to be the expensive stuff either. The cheapest stuff from petsmart or petco is usually a great bet. If you are lazy or just want to try it,you can always just go buy premixed water from your local fish store, mine sells premixed salt water for $1 a gallon. Make sure to bring your own 5 gallon bucket though or they will charge you a few bucks for a bucket.

  • OH and can i use aquaium salt cuase i have that... thats the salt that usually is used for aquariums so your fishes are more safe from stress and diseases...

  • Does the water need to be kept a certain temp thrgh out while the shrimp are alive or for just the time they need to hatch??? if for the whole 4 days how does the water stay maintained at 18 to 30 celcius?

  • my own like this keeps leaking through the hose and the hos is filling with water what do i do

  • LEAVE BRINE SHRIMP ALOOOOONNNAA

  • nice ur video nice trank u!

  • Thank YOu Jazzy for teaching me how to do a Brine Shrimp Hatchery ! Best wishes !

  • Theres one thing I don't get, at 8:12 why doesn't all the water empty out of the airline in the bottom?

  • can you keep these for pets?and if what would you feed them?(besides alge)

  • Just wanted to say thank you! This is great, i have bought a couple of those cheap brine shrimp kits at my local fish store and they did not work half as well as what your method did. My Ora Mandarin Draggonette eats pellets usually but he really likes brine shrimp as well. Actually i think all of my fish are very grateful for your video.

  • Can I hatch brine shrimp, and then feed them to my fish in my saltwater tank?I heard that the water, brine shrimp and eggs can carry nasty bacteria that will kill my saltwater fish?

  • I'm in Philippines it is recommended to use heater or not?

    Thank you......

  • Dude you are freakin awesome !!! Just for 411 can you tell me, if you can use regular arm and hammer baking soda? And for longevity, what are you feeding your shrimp?

  • how much p/ box of artemia egg cost..and where can i buy it???

  • i have a question i have the same setup and i left it for 48 hours and there still eggs what am i doing wrong PS: im using iodized salt does it matter

  • @timp01081995 In my experience it is best to use rock salt if you are not going to use aquarium salt. The hydrometer reading should be around 1.021 or so for salinity. Often when i have trouble getting them to hatch my house is usually under 70 degrees or above 84 degrees. Thats in Fahrenheit btw.

  • @badvegan so your saying that aquarium salt is better....?

  • Good video, cheers mate!

  • Great video! Going to try it myself for my bettas...By the way, i hear birds in your background, you're quite the animal person, eh?

  • @shinyrobotblues hah, wild birds in the tree outside the window (the buggers wouldn't shut up while I was recording). I also keep a bird however ;)

  • @Jazzy78910

Neat! I've got a Parakeet myself.

  • however

  • whats the song called ?

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Thanks for the post. I think (if you don't mind me saying) that you have over-engineered this hatchery. I just cut off the top of the bottle tip 1.5 litres of water in plus salt and eggs and then turn the top of the bottle which i cut off upside down and put it over the top to cover it. I place a airtube through the hole that was the neck of the bottle and put a small air brick on it. this does exactly the same job as yours but takes about 5 minutes to set up and have going.

  • There's a minor design flaw (I'm not sure if anyone else has had the same problem) When you turn off or turn down the pump, the water from the bottle goes down in to the tube, thus leaving brine shrimp and eggs in the tube. I suggest adding a air stone or skipping making all the holes and just cut a bottle in half and feed a tube through the top or side.

  • HOW MUCH WATER?!?!?!

  • I can't find a suctioncap, where did you get yours? Or do you know of a place online that has them?

  • Hey I'm keeping the shrimp in a seperate tank to grow. What do I feed them??

  • That was cool!!!

  • nice video, how do you feed them ? I would like to feed my corals withem, thanks.

  • nvm found how to

  • how do you strain the brine shrimp? i need an answer asap!!!

  • WOW, very hard way that lol, no need to cut bottles, no need for stands, no need for shrynge, or suction cap, no need to have bottle upside down..

Il reply later with the easiest way u will ever find ;)

But about your video, it was ver well described and educational for beginners good job

  • 40hrs for the 1st harvest, what about the 2nd and 3rd and how many times can I harvest? Thanks!

  • on ya mate! Coles salt! I was told I can't use it! I have tried twice to hatch brine shrimp in my NT lab. Nothing happen. I will now try your method.

  • My last weeks fry didnt hatch cos it wasnt warm enough here in Australia ;)

  • if you want the brine shrimp to grow what do you feed the brine shrimp on

  • few questions, once you've hatched them in there, how long does that batch of them last for and how long can they live while they are left in there. also you sound Australian, so i would assume you wouldn't need to heat the water at all but i live in england and its generally pretty cold, is there a temperature you should keep it above?

  • @bigun1999999

They'll live in there for around 4 days before they start to perish. You can move them to a bigger tank and feed them if you want them to grow. A heater set to around 24°C will do the trick, although they seem to tolerate anything between 18 and 30°C.

  • @Jazzy78910 what do they eat? if you wanna grow them?

  • @Jazzy78910 Hello mate tnx for ur all videos on youtube and they really helped me, I just found out that you are aussie :D once I saw the Coles salt. And wondering where can i get unhatched brine shrimp eggs?

    ty mate.

  • As your ready to harvest the brine, you turn off the the air pump. I'm wondering won't the water run down and through the air line into the air pump?

  • I might try and get some brine shrimp eggs from my pet shop, but I will use a PVC stand, because I have a bad feeling someone will knock it over. I got 3 spare air pumps, so I can make a hatchery for my angels pretty quickly.

  • The one and only professional looking DIY Brine shrimp hatchery that is filled with tons of information on Youtube. This video could save quite a lot of money, it is cheap and simple to make. Thanks for sharing!

Waiting patiently to see the finishing make of 'How to grow BBS' video, I'm sure it is another great video.

  • Simply thank you! Very informative and straight forward! Favoured and rated! Cheers Jazzy!

  • Thats the best damned video i've ever seen.. Most educational, enjoyable and all round greatest video.. and i agree with x.fishbreeder.x .. the starting music is great!

  • hi how can i buy brine shrimp eggs ??

it seems impossible to find them in my country and local pet shops in here..

my question is were is a good place to buy online?

and are they better than micro-worms for baby betta fry ?

    thanx for reading my comment

  • wont the salt in the brine shrimp harm the angel fish fry

  • mate, you're very helpful.

I've bought a hatch mix from san francisco bay and they're not growing.

  • wow man this vid is so informative this weekend i will go and buy a syringe and air pump and set my own hatchery up.

  • great video. awesome. 10/5 . it was funny because i was like dang those angel fish are small...then when he got closer they all swarmed the brine shrimp it was great. nice vid again. my friend has a large fish tank and he cant find a good way to feed his fish fry. il recommend this video to him. :)

  • I'm very sorry for interupting you Jazzy78910 but every time I watch this video I think about my fish and how buetiful they are I complement you on your effort and successeding

  • i love the start of the video! this is the best video ive seen so far on how to make a homemade filter!

  • Where Could You Get Baby Brine Shrimp ? Could You Find Them In Petsmart Or Animal House ? Or Something Like That ?

  • will baking powder be ok thanks

  • will baking powder be ok thanks

  • and can i make that with allready hatched artemia?? cause i bought them allready hatched, but i would like to breed them, since i breed bettas and thats great for feeding fry....

  • hi jazzy, nice vid! can i ask you a quick simple question.how long will it take for my brineshrimp eggs to hatch, i have heard that the bigger the egg, the longer the hatch, depending on temp?

  • Ya man. To use gymnastic terminology. You stuck it! Flawless presentation.

  • coool good job mate!

  • hi, very good video (the graphics at the bottle!) and the process, very nice presented, what do you feed it if you want it to grow more? thanks for share it.

  • i think this vidoe is REALLY helpful to people who are looking to hatch brine shrimp for their fish of just for pets... i was wondering if you can tell me if it is a good or bad idea to hatch these shrimp for pets???

  • does any pet store sell eggs?

  • @trojanshawaii yes they do at some craft stores of at your local all purpose store.

  • very informative, neat and nicely presented, thank you very much :D

  • That was very interesting... saw an episode of south park and wanted to know what brine shrimp looked like ...

    Sea people and meeee...

  • I wouldn't do this method because the water comes back into the airpump and makes smoke and it's Bad I'd just put the cap on with no hole and put the airline tubing on top and just puta airstone. Way better

  • I WOULD do this method because its not like thats their permanent tank.... is it??? O-o?

  • Hi Jazzy! Thanks so much for this great video! it really helps me alot =D I need to ask u something, i want to feed my betta fry brine shrimps...so, do i HAVE to strain the saltwater before i feed them? or i can just feed the fry with the saltwater? please reply ASAP! =) its veyr important!!

  • @iliruzanna94 Sorry about the delayed reply. Strain them by all means for use in small tanks, not as important for large 50+ gal tanks.

  • @Jazzy78910oh no, its alright (: oooh, ok, i see =) thanks a lot!! xD peace ... =)

  • i see you suck up the salted water up with the brince shrimp and feed to straight to the angle fish. do you extract the salted water or is it okey to feed the fry with the salted wated. if i'm correct the angels fish in the video are fresh-water.

  • @yangb90 you are correct - angels are freshwater fish. The small amount of salt put into the tank doesn't bother them. I also did daily changes on the tank water anyway.

  • @yangb90 its ok to do just give the salted water to your fish the salt density will move it downward quickly andmost of the brine shrimp may be away from the salted water but anyway its ok ask me if you have any question.

  • Besides the salt what was that other stuff called that you put in there, and what does it do.When the baby brine shrimp are hatched what can I feed them to keep them alive longer?

  • thanks sooo much for the video

  • hi, love the video; am on ebay right now buying eggs.

my question is, once the eggs have hatched, where do i put them to mature? what environment do they need? can i leave them in the hatchery and remove egg shells?pls advise, thanks

  • Hey jazzy i got a quaestion well 2. About how long does it take for your fry to eat all the brine shrimp like how long does a teaspoon of eggs last. And should i get two hatcheries running once, like one gets low then start a new one in advance

  • The first time I tried to raise brine shrimp, They died in ONE DAY! Now I can raise them without having them die that easily. How long can they live in the hatchery?

  • about 3-4 days.

  • Thanks for letting me know. That's all the time I need to get a home set up for them. I'm raising them as pets!

  • i like your video good job you explained everything well but i got sea monkeys yesterday! those poor sea monkeys get eaten

  • Hi, I have a question. I been running my hatchery for almost 36 hours. But I don't think any have hatched yet. I unplugged the air pump, and a bunch of the eggs float to the surface. And there seems to be some black particles in the water, not sure what they are.

  • @St33lCrush3r

Take a few and put them in clear water and see if there's brine shrimp, the black particles are the brine shrimp's head i guess.

  • Good job dude, clearly the best how to hatch baby brine shrimp video on you tube. Great editing and everything just perfectooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Oh men, thank'u very much, your video is really amazing. I like very very much. Thanks

  • hi, do you have to add any dechlorinator into the tap water? And is your growing and breeding video almost done yet? can't wait

  • You don't have to declorinate the tap water - My video camera is away for repairs, when it comes back (1-2 weeks) I should be able to finish the video for you guys.

  • hey i made something colse to ur deisign and It is more stabel and is all thanks to u man i owe u ty

  • hey jazzy78910 can you tell me can u sell me some angel fish and I like to breed fish I need to get fish from good experenced breeders though plz talk back ty hav a great day

  • Set up 2 hatcheries, and alternate which one you are harvesting from every 3 days. You basically need brine shrimp ready to harvest in one, and the other bubbling away and hatching the next lot to be ready when the other runs out.

  • Should you turn off the airpump when the eggs have hatched?

  • No, only for the small amount of time that you are harvesting.

  • As I have commented on your other vids, I REALLY like them.

I jhave a few questions concerning brine shrimp, first of all, how long do they last? How long does it take before they are to big for fry? How long does it take to get them large enough to feed to other fish and wut do u gut load them with? (yes, ihave a gecko so i use the term 'Gut load')

    Thanks again

    peace,

  • Nice dude,

You know how hard it is to find someone like you, who'd actually tape things in such detail and quality, and using the simplest materials ever.

    You're the first... thanks man.

I'd like to know how you can grow these shrimps bigger tho.... or even breeding them haha

    Thanks!: )

  • Growing and breeding video out in a few weeks max, it's nearly done!

  • Nice video and very informative. vipersmilk is the noob...do your water changes as your supposed to do and your fish will be just fine.

  • vipersmilk is the noob.... if you look after your fish and do water changes then there is no problem with the salty water, do as Jazzy says and everything will be fine.

  • hey jazzy, nice video, very helpful.

can you tell me what the make or where you got the suction cup from. - i know yours works and fits so il try and get that one, rather than some other that might not fit.

    cheers.

also, how long do you leave it before starting the mixture again? (before the shrimp lose all their nutritional value)

  • Thanks man very useful!

  • Nice vid :)

  • yea if you don't already add salt to your freshwater aquarium, small amounts wont hurt it, and like he said, assuming you are doing a water change weekly or bimonthly, this will have little impact on the salinity of the water. I don't rinse my brine shrimp either and my fish are doing fantastic

  • Not a very constructive comment, but thanks for your feedback. The water changes that I complete on a regular basis easily counteract the small build-up of salt in the tank. A tiny amount of salt is actually beneficial as it inhibits bacterial growth in the tank. My fish don't die, and if you are worried about yours, just run the shrimp through a paper filter before putting them in the tank.

  • how are these little buggers as pets?

  • Great for kids, as they are easy to keep when you get the water and feeding right. They are very interesting to watch, and sometimes quite comical.

  • hmm mkay thanks for the info ^^

  • Thanks bro

  • The one thing I don't understand about these as fish food, is that why would you keep buying eggs instead of keeping a generation and using it's shrimp to feed your fish? Seems like you'd have to wait a week but it would save you money in the long run cause these things reproduce fast

  • How-To on growing and breeding Brine Shrimp will be released very soon

  • no shrimp yet :o(

  • did everything except for suction cup ... the tubing i bought would not go around the suction cup or into the suction cup ... i made the hole in the pop top very small so the silicone tubing is tight, no leaking so far ... will keep you posted :o)

  • i am trying it tomorrrow :o)

  • This is a great video! Thank you very much.

  • Great video with a really cute ending!

  • Great tutorial, it's going straight into my favorites! I saw a guy doing something similar but he had a light over the hatchery. He said it was necessary. Is it?

  • Natural or artificial light is very important. I just put mine near a window where it sees daylight.
