Thanks for posting a great, but hard to find song. I don't think it achieved the popularity it deserved. I heard it a few times when it was first released, then not at all until I found it here. Also, I really like the information about Cal and his career on the video.
Love Cal Smith. Saw him in Portland, Maine, with Conway Twitty. He was by far, in my eyes, the star of the show. This was many years ago. Would love to see him again.
This song brings me back to some of the very best times of my life. The mid-70s were about as good as it got for me.
I remember a few of Cal Smiths other songs that I haven't heard in many years; She Talked A Lot About Texas, Gods Lullaby, and others that I can't think of right now. He was one of the better artists of his time.
This song was recorded in an era when country music was country music. The songs were written and performed by people whose passion was music. The way it should be
I first heard Jasons Farm, on AFKN, in the mid-70s. For years I searched the internet looking for Cal Smiths version, but was unable to find it, until now. Thank you so very much for posting it. LG
AFKN stands for America Forces Korea Network. They broadcasted country music hour twice a day. Now it has been changed to AFN(America Forces Network).
I really enjoy this one. One of the best of the oldies. I got hooked on Country when I was 14 (1974) and never looked back. This is one of them that I just can't get enough of.
hey,do you or anyone know who sings the song 'an old man on his deathbed' i do not know the proper name of this song but some of the lyric's go like this:-
-an oldman on his deathbed once said to me, you are the master of your destiny, a diamond is a diamond and a stone is a stone, and a man is not all good or all bad when the chips are all down and your backs at the wall, your the best friend that you ever had'
please if someone would tell me it would be appreciated, thank you
