I agree with Olbermann on most instances, but not the one about the second amendment. Either Barack Obama has stated that the gentlemen carrying assult rifles to his rallys...have the right to do so.
The right to bare arms goes and constitutes what were arms then (muskets) and what are arms now (handguns and assult rifles). I would rather have a long distant arguement with a person with a hand gun, then a cannon. That is just me though.
The second amendment was designed exclusively to defend America against the British? You're a dumbass Olbermann. If what you say was true, congress would have immediately amended the 2nd amendment after the revolutionary war ended.
Illegalizing firearms only gives the advantages to criminals. Keep your anti-self defense opinions to yourself you gun-grabbing asshole.
At the rate of 30,000 gun deaths in the U.S. per year, it would take more than 3,333 years to equal the number murdered in communist countries, by the governments of these countries.
Help me get it jimmy. Do you think the people who drafted the constitution knew that guns would be the tool of choice for madmen nationwide? Ya think they thought guns would be used to mow down american students at schools? I do not think the gov't should ask for lawfully owned guns, but lets not pretend like Pres Jefferson was hunkering for a tek-9.
People like you don't want to be confused with facts once their mind is made up. I don't think the framers of the Constitution knew the Country would be filled with dipshits like you. I can't help you "get it". Just imagine the future when the only madmen with guns are the government and they order you to be sterilized or take on the mark. What do you fight back with; harsh language? The framers COULD see that. Like I said, facts won't matter to you.
You haven't said ANYTHING. Called me some colorful names, but you still haven't proved to me that the framers of the constitution had any clue what devastating effects gunfire would do to american families. Again, legally own a gun? Fine. Keep it and be safe. But there's got to be a limit to automatic weapons floating around the entire country.
"Those arms would obviously be what was available in the 1700s..." Moron. Is he transmitting via 1700s technology? No. Does that mean he doesn't have a 1A right to do it?
zzzxxyy: "assault guns"? What's an "assault gun"? I like my ergonomic semi-autos with large-ish magazines because they're effective. My AK doesn't care if it's clean or dirty or even packed with mud. It works every time. That's why we love those kind of guns.
1. Sean Hannity has his lips on Murdoch's ass for so long he doesn't know what the fuck is going on!
2. Someone needs to tell Bill-o to take his head out of his ass.
3. I have nothing against guns, I would like to own one one day. Just a couple of questions: A.Why does anyone want to own a ton of assault guns for? B. If everyone does own a gun, do we get rid of law enforcement? I throw these questions out to the gun nuts in this country. Again, I would love to own a gun, but why go nuts?
The worst thing about your average Olbermann drone is that they know they are getting a one sided view with not 2 seconds of debate on anything, Yet believe everything he says. :( Too many retards.
At the 3 minute mark Olbermann talks about the right to bear arms in the 18th century. So following his "logic" the second amendment only applies to those weapons that were around in the 18th century and not today. I guess the 1st amendment only applies to what is said verbally and from printing presses. Television, radio and the internet are not then covered by the 1st amendment. Right Keith?
Come on now.. even you should be able to look a litte deeper into Olbermann's comment; the main issue is the idea of a "militia", whose primary purpose is the defense of the state and the people. "Personal" handguns are used by "individuals", not organized military groups! Often, these guns are used in illegal organizations such as gangs or for personal defense. Therefore, it was not an appropriate desicion for the Justice and his collegues to remove the restriction on handguns...
as individual handguns do not contribute to a larger state security force (or militia). You have to make the important connection that although indivduals are allowed to bear arms, it must be in contribution to a larger and legal military organization, otherwise it is subject to various restrictions (such as needing to be locked up). However, Justice Scalia has not made this important observation and as a result has removed a law that didn't really need to be removed...
Simply looking at the sheer number of gun-realated deaths in this country (compared to other developed nations such as France, Enlgand and Canada), wouldn't it be a better thing for LESS guns to be out on the sreets and for the strictest measures (laws) to be placed in order to facilitate this?
Wasn't Olbermann recently scratching off Amendments as they have been all but completely ignored? Funny how he seems to forget the 2nd... or tries to interpret it without context or originalist perspective.
If Fox is full of soft-fascist, ex-Trotskyist neo-cons, then CNN definitely stands for Communist News Network. (ok, maybe that's a bit harsh)
First thing a tyrant does before he slaughters a population is disarm them.
I swear its gotten to the point where Olberman's hate for Bill-o has spilled over into full blown obsession. He really just insinuated that making money with Iran is okay. Oh, because they won't anymore on monday, O brother. I know its his bosses, but he is a jackass. And I really hope someone breaks into his house so he can defend himself with his Grande latte from FagBucks. The numbers are clear, crime rates are lower in areas with no gun ban.

I agree with you on this. It is obsession with BO. My favorite part of the criticism is that BO has said he is not objective about CEO of GE. KO blast BO for that, but will not admit that he (KO) is not objective about anything!
Also, KO blasts Hannity for disagreeing with CEO of FNC (his boss), but KO falls lock-step behind CEO of NBC to support. Hannity is showing character to disagree with boss; KO is not.
Lastly, KO knows more about constitution than SCOTUS judges?
Scalia this time: The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. (a) The Amendment's prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause's text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms
sorry obe.. im not with you on this one... i like my handguns and if California ever decides to revolt, ill be one of the one with the high powered riffles
I mean, don't get me wrong.... Antonin Scalia is evil and wrong on almost every ruling.
BUT... the 2nd amendment is the right of all people, the DC gun ban is meant to stop poor black people from having hand guns in the home. Everyone knows you can NOT use a long rifle in a small cramped apartment as well as you can use a pistol. Why do you think cops draw pistols before entering an apartment. The street criminals use stolen guns and don't obey gun laws anyways. The ban hurts honest people.

Howard Dean is pro-gun and SO AM I
I need a gun to defend myself against George Bush and his private christian armies like Blackwater Security. We live in a semi-dictatorship, unitary executive, post Patriot Act world.
It is not obvious that the 2nd amendment only allows Muskets and Flint rifles. That is a BS talking point, to justify the federal government restricting state of the art weapons.
Blackwater gets to have M-16's, but we the people only get muskets and powder guns. TOTAL BS KEITH
Keith is wrong about muskets and all that liberal mumbo jumbo. Musket talk is BS.
Sometimes Keith is just wrong. Not everyone is perfect.
If Blackwater security can have fully automatic M-16's, when they are regular citizens and NOT in the military. If Blackwater security is used on American soil after disasters like Katrina.
Then every able citizen of America needs to be militia, and we should all be allowed to own a semi-automatic pistol and rifle that can compete with the .45 and AR-15.

Hey Olbermann, you dip-shit, do you think they had radio, television, the internet, and MSNBC in mind when they wrote the 1st amendment.
Olbermann, how would you feel if the 1st amendment was held in question?
The 2nd amendment guarantees the 1st.
The only clown I see here is Olbermann.
