  • for hmongsrock i have the blackberry 8100 and to get movies or vids on mine you need the desktop manager installed onto your computer and most of the usual formats work like 3pg and mp4 etc.you need to go onto media manager and transfer the vids to the right part which is ur blackberry storage. hope it helps

  • I have a 1 gig mini sd card. i transfer my .AVI video files into the sd storage, but the problem with that is it doesnt play, it will always get an error like "Cannot play video file" and some other videos will say something like "The video file is of an unsupported format"

ALL of my videos that i transferred are .AVI but im confused about everything, all my video can play on the computer but when i transfer it wont play. Any suggestions?

  • and i also have the BlackBerry Pearl 8100

  • Try using blackberry video creator, before upload a video to the phone, convert it with this program even if it is already an .avi, i use it and have no problems

  • do i have to buy it?

  • nop, it is free, just google it.

  • ok i really dont understand how to make video work for blackberry 8100!!! please help

  • sorry i forgot to mention one more thing, I also use the desktop manager to transfer my video files into the blackberry. The SD card is already in the Blackberry when I transfer the video files.

  • its ok.. i have this phone for pay as you go but its better to have a plan, the phone comes cheaper with a plan.

  • i recently got a new pearl and i orderd the same exact black one but i noticed that the trackball on my new one is lighter and it doesnt have the myfaves icon for tmobile

  • im getting the 8130 in sep!!

  • I was wondering how you get your theme so that the icons are on the bottom instead of the left side?? I've checked my theme options and none of them place them on the bottom.

  • When I first got the phone I hated it but when I learned about all the features and how to type suretype I fell in luv with it.

  • Does anybody knows if there are headphones that will allow me to listen to my music on both ears!!!!!?

  • You can use bluetooth stereo headphones or use regular headphones with a converter. (normal headphones are 3.5mm and my pearl has a 2.5mm jack) some blackberrys have 3.5mm jacks though.

  • i downloaded google maps on my pearl and is keeps tellin me "network unavailable.this app requires a data connection, and some bb devices require reconfiguration to work properly" wtf does that mean?????anybody???

  • how can u install opera mini without internet on the phone

  • I got the red one. Its fucking tight. So is Cursive, good taste.

  • how about real tones or mp3?do you know how guys?thank you..

  • plug into your computer, make sure you have the blackberry set to be recognized by the computer as a removable disk, open the folder (usually the blackberry is E:\ ) then drag mp3 songs into your music folder, safely unplug from your PC, then go to you music folder on the phone, and hit the option "Set as ringtone"

  • use the media manager and just drag your ringtones to the ringtone folder and the songs on the song folder

  • AMn youshould make a video of you using Clone dvd mobile..i downloaded and im tryin to put 300on my pearl but i dunno if its gonna work

  • Can you tell me how to change my applications from icon format to a list format? Thanks

  • go to your options > scroll down to themes > then browse through the themes. You can also download new themes off the internet if you go to your bb browser and google "blackberry themes" something like that.

  • yeah just brickbreaker but you can download games for free if you google blackberry pearl free games... check out the sites

  • Do you know what format games this thing takes?

  • no idea :(

  • pretty sure its java

  • hm..is it possible to convert movies from youtube to your blackberry pearl? if you can pleaze tell me how.

  • Nope sorry I don't think you can. IF you have software on your computer that rips youtube videos onto your hard drive, then you could drag them to you phone maybe, but you can't stream or convert movies on the web browser from the phone.

  • yes it does hit me back if you need the software

  • how do you put movies into your phone? can you really change the color of the trackball or no?

  • you can put movies on your phone by converting them from DVD to AVI format. Check out Slysoft dot com and look up cloneDVD Mobile. To change the trackball I think you have to take it out and color the LEDs with marker. Otherwise there isn't an actual option.

  • thanks alot you know how you said to convert the file while after you do all that is there a sync cord that you need to put the movie into your phone because when i got my phone i didnt get anything with it i bought it off a buddy of mine thanks alot man i really appreciate the help

  • no, u cant change the trackball color, i just did and its sweet, search it on here and watch the tutorial, its easy and sick

  • movies must be in mp4 format i just uploaded them in to my memory card via card reader.Yes you can change the light the program is called Color Pearl and its free

  • ahh very good information i did not know that :)

  • i got the blackberry curve 8320 and i cant use my gps app do u know how can i download googlemaps

  • is there anybody who knows how to record videos on bb pearl 8100?

  • You can't. There is no video camera built into the 8100. The 8130 carried by Verizon has the video camera

  • how big is the internal phone memory?

and what size sd card r u using? 1 gb?

  • Internally it has 64mb of flash memory

I have a 2gb micro SD card. It's off brand I got it for $20 at Microcenter

  • i just did what you told me to i converted it to avi now it says error need help please

  • when does it give you the error? When you're transferring it? or when you try to play it on the phone? Try playing the AVI movie on your computer and see if it plays.

  • it gives an error when i try to play it on my phone

and i have an imac osx and when i play the it after converting it to avi it plays but you cant hear anything

  • I'd guess it's something to do with the conversion software not liking your mac.. Sorry I can't really help you as far as a mac is concerned. google something like videos on pearl 8100 from Mac

  • thanks anyway

  • i cant put my MOV videos on my pearl

  • Sorry i don't have experience handling the MOV format, it listed that as a supported format, you may need to update firmware on your player, or download a free MOV to AVI converter.

  • how u put videos on it

  • In the "About this video" I kind of explain it. You need to have the video in AVI, MP4 or 3GP file format. If you want to put a DVD movie on the pearl, you need conversion software like DVD Clone Mobile which converts DVDs into AVI format. Then just click and drag them into your phones MicroSd card.

You can't actually TAKE videos on the phone though UNLESS you have the 8130 which does have video recording capabilities.

  • i used the clone dvd thing but when i play it on the pearl and it says error

  • Hmmm is it in AVI format and saved in your Micro SD card? make sure you also safely remove your phone from the computer so you don't corrupt files. Let me know if you get it to work

  • i did the conversion on the clone dvd thingy so now i drag it to the video folder on my micro sd chip correct?

  • yep as long as it's converted with the mobile CloneDVD so it's in the AVI format it should work

  • ok ima see if it worked

  • yo how do u get gps on the pearl

  • With the Pearl 8100 (through T-mobile) you need a GPS headset. With the Pearl 8130 from Verizon has it built into the phone.

  • which headsets have it

  • The GPS equipped headsets, I'm not really sure you could probably do a search on amazon for them. I don't use one.

  • on another youtube vid, I saw that his keyboard got rubbery and soft to where he didn't feel a click when he pressed the button.

so i was wondering how yours was holding up.

    thanks!

  • Mines holding up very well :) I've had it for almost a year, and my sisters which is 2 years old is holding up very well too. And we both text a lot so our Blackberrys have held up.

  • how did you get the menu like that

  • go to mobile dot blackberry dot com...

    :)

  • do you think opera mini is better on the pearl than the BB browser? im getting my pearl in 2 days. :D

  • I like it because it keeps the web browser lay out. So it looks like a mini computer screen almost, the load times aren't even that much longer than the BB browser even the the BB browser is a simplified layout. I use Opera more.

  • thanks your a good man

  • if i hit 0 what should it be on for no shutter in the cycle because i tried all of them

  • It should be on the icon that has the flash symbol circled with a line crossed through it. Like a no smoking sign.

  • thanks man the program works fine but the shutter isnt turning off...

  • weird did you take the battery out and restart? strange. My friend's pearl has a camera problem too, might be covered under warranty.

  • hey i just had 2 questions i was wonderin if there is a way to turn the camera shutter off...and if there is a way to cut the ringtone right where you want it to play or if there is a program to do so, for example if the song is 5 minutes and i want the ringtone at about 3:35

  • Those are great questions!

To turn the shutter off you can either press the Zero "0" button and you will notice the flash icon change. It will cycle through Flash On, Auto Flash, and No Flash. the "No Flash" option is a strike out icon. Otherwise you can change the flash by hitting the little Blackberry button while you're in camera mode and go to your options.

  • Part II

The only software I found to split mp3 audio is Softe Audio Converter(which I paid for), but try Downloads dot com and search for Expstudio Audio Editor Free 4.26 it's free but I've never used it.

  • lol hey i just learned to change the ball color too

  • fuck man....i have the AT&T Blackberry!!! i dont have the world map, or that GOogle map!! :'( how do i get it??? Someone??

  • go to your blackberry browser and go to google and search for google map download or something like that, and you can download it to your phone

  • Interesting, does it offer many functions if I dont plan on using The Internet? Also, is it 20 bucks for Emails?

  • Yep, it offers Bluetooth, music, videos, etc even if you don't subscribe to the web-browser service. And as for just doing email, it's now only $9.99 a month (at least with the T-Mobile add-on). I just got mine and email & text messaging are the only add-ons I use, but it's so worth it for everyday use. I highly recommend this phone!

  • You can full screen the video by hitting the Blackberry button then full screen.

  • sorry on the T-mobile Pearl 8100 there is no option for fullscreen... all there is is: Help, activate handset speaker, replay, repeat, next, delete, copy, move, rename, properties, send using blue tooth, hide(hides the entire video), Switch application and close

  • now I want to get this phone. Thanks for the review.

  • a)Yo, do you really need a MicroSD Card to get pics/music/vids from ur comp to ur BlackBerry Pearl?

    b) My Pearl's web browser doesnt show up, it says i need to configurate it by calling my network provider. Can I get it by without doing this?

  • a) I don't think you can load pics/music/vids up to the internal memory(I could be wrong), because it simply doesn't have enough space. My 2gb microSD card cost me like 20 bucks. well worth it. but sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for.

  • Alright then I'll get a MicroSD Card.

  • b) another unfortunate situation, since there's no wi-fi feature on the phone you can't just jump online. you need to activate the data service plan through T-mobile. it's an extra $20 a month for unlimited browser use(otherwise there's a 1 cent charge per 1mb of data transferred of something), the data plan also includes setting up email capabilities (getting emails on your phone).

  • Oh I see. Well a phone is all you need
