  • No worries Tony, glad to be of service. Can't really be sure about the sizing problem without seeing it in front of me, but a good tell sign is whether or not the arch fits into place and if you have a lot of lateral movement while wearing the boots. But if they fit without any other loose areas and arch is good, then in my mind, they fit right. Enjoy them!

  • @mrjfitz84 Thanks for the synopsis on the fitting. BTW love your blog.

    Tony.

  • Dear Tony,

Yes, it is water. Like the old spit 'n' shine, except I shine too many shoes a day to be spitting on all of them, so water makes for an acceptable substitute.

  • @mrjfitz84 Appericate the reply. I just got my first pair of Made in England shoes/boots, a pair of Coniston boots from C&J and want to polish them before I start wearing them out, your video is a great demo for me to follow. One thing that bugs me about the boots is there is about 10/16th of an inch between my big toe and the top of the boot which seems a tad much but maybe this is normal or correct sizing for proper leather boots. The rest of the boot fits fine.

  • What is the clear liquid he is adding top the polish, is it water?

  • I am using my own branded wax, called THE SHOE SNOB. Anything bee's wax based polish made in France will be good. Saphir is a well-known, good polish.

  • What type of wax are you using? Any brands that you recommend?

  • they were definitely calfskin, of where from I do not know, but the shoes were Crockett & Jones

  • What type of leather are the shoes made from?
