I also believe the rise of fundamentalism in Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism is in fact a short-term reaction to a longer-term, irreversible trend AWAY from irrational, divisive, traditional belief systems. I agree that economics is critical. Being able to have steady employment brings so much positivity and stability to your life, it becomes your identity in a way... like Joe the carpenter... with a little prosperity the next level is the struggle for peace in your own community.

When Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered in this country, one of the last things he said was, "Freedom with out economic freedom is sentimental and anemic." So, you are right, when we tackle the economic problem, this will really subdue the violence.
I think the most important points you raised are leadership and education. That will be the only way to solve this problem. I also agree, it will take a very very long time.
This is such a complex issue that it is difficult to make a coherent response in 500 words or less, so I will take your advice and make a video response. In that video I will make the point that the Israelis and Palestinians are really two peoples of the same genetic origin, so what happened? I will raise those questions and hope that intelligent people can respond without loosing their cool. Thank you Grafinia for being a voice of reason, you are one sharp cookie.
