It's a great movie. I'm reading the book right now, and Gary Oldman is just perfect. His Dracula isn't a guy in a dinner jacket, but he isn't just a devil either. He's cruel and arrogant, yet passionate. You empathize with him, though you still acknowledge his evil And the score is perfect, too.
This powerful and magnificent music fills me with mortal dread and true horror, striking sheer terror in my heart the very moment I hear its notes ...
Ah Dracula..... havnt seen this movie in a while.... need to watch it. And you know waht? I miss the old days of being in middle school and highschool..... back when it was only the goths artists and poets reading vampire books..... before preps and cheerleaders started reading vampire books because that dumbfuck author of the Twilight series dulled the Vampire down to the point of being a total cock sucking loser. Luckly Eric Northman does a pretty cool vampire.... so hot.
yes is a classic for me too this movie about the Prince of Darkness..pity for the end,too much honey for a vampire story...in the book Dracula dies when his enemies open the crate where he waiting for the dark,NOT FOR A WOMAN
Oh the love it speaks of is the fulfillment of the deepest inner self. It is a song and a movie wed in perpose to draw an ancient picture of the most sacred human dream, that of the true pairing of soulmates. The tears come from knowing the anguish of being incomplete, but in this dream joy stands like a shining tower against all storms and we cry out to it to send our brave hope back to keep it safe, to keep it's fires lit.
I recently got this movie on dvd and watched it, and I was completely enthtralled by it all over again, almost as much as I was back when I first watched it. I never get tired of seeing this movie. Of the many things I love about this film, I took particular notice of how they use light and shadow to great effect in some scenes. Its way better than the book, which was bland compared to this. This is THE vampire movie of all times.
Yeah, Well Castevania:SOTN Version of Dracula beats the living shit out of all those other versions that came before. How can you possibly say no to "What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets!!"
Loved this movie when it 1st came out in 1992.I saw it at the cinema 4 times within the 2 weeks. The downfall of this movie was Keanu Reeves, shit actor with a terrible fake English accent.Shame.Gary Oldman was perfect. The soundtrack is sheer beauty.Doom and Gloom.
Jadore cette musique et surtout ce film ! Cette musique me fait penser aux enfers et aux demons et surtout ... aux VAMPIRES ! C'est un tres beau film et une tres belle histoire d'amour.
I personally don't know why everyone is hating on Mr. Reeves' performance, I didn't find it all to terrible, sure at some points he is wooden, but those points are few and inbetween, he's trying to sound like an almost parody of stuck up british salesmen
It depends on what one compares it with. Reeves acting is god like if its, for example compared to the actor who played Blade in the Blade series a couple of years ago ;)
A very beautiful love story underneath it all. Two lost souls. Soul mates and the power of love. One of my all time favorite movies. And we all know Gary Oldman's performance more than makes up for Keanu Reeves lack there of! :)
Always a good thing to make great use of your bass section, piano for ostinato - see Jaws in 1975 for evidence of how that captured a character. Then, the 16th followed by dotted 8th note to get Hungarian folk sound in celli (even if Drac was Romanian). Loved the opening.
this track, from the moment it starts, is full of melancholy bitterness, anger, hatred, dread, gloom, sadness, lost love, despair and destruction- and superbly portraits Dracula's life of eternal misery and evil.
@somethinglacking1 I love when music tells the story better than visuals. But this movie also has awesome visuals, but you can get the gist just from the music itself!
@jujuvanecke He's got amazing talent - he can play virtually any role and do a flawless job of getting into the character's psychology. He was an amazing Dracula, portraying the character's capacity for both sympathy and evil and never making any part of him overshadow any other. In the Christopher Nolan "Batman" films, his Commissioner Gordon was so perfect I almost couldn't imagine anybody else playing the role. He looked, sounded, and acted exactly like the character I've come to know. =)
Bram Stoker was a brilliant Irish writer, researching vampirism for 8 years of his life before writing this story in Dublin, finishing in 1896.Kilmar(Polish composer) & Stoker ,chillingly good combination..great film too;)
Woe to you, o' trodden earth which lie beneath the wakening of blood spilled b4 your descendants. They shall drink and be sustained. Ask the children of the wake of civilization, O' Mesopatamian titans...esta blasphemata! Verstehen Sie?
