TO NEW ''Hackers" first you need a sm64 rom i would go to coolroms or doperoms

THEN download it. get the m64 rom extender. extend your rom then you can open it in toads tool

@ShadowyLink @leopan51 Ok, what you do, you download the rom extender download the rom (emuparadise is a good site) Go to the file, (should be ZIP file) once your in the file, right click and click extract all, then open the folder in the rom extender, and hit the button!

@67oesen u can change goomba's skins by going to the texture on top and find a goomba's face,export,edit it by using a microsoft paint,go to texture again,select a goomba face,click import,find the goomba face file you exported and edited,and the goomba's face is changed and one more,click revert to save

@BiggestSouthParkFan Just download the SM64 ROM, and download SM64 ROM EXTENDER at VL-Tone's (Starxxon) site, and open the extender: then open your SM64 ROM. When it has finished extending the rom, close the extender. And, open the file with your ext. rom in it. Open Toads Tool 64, and voila! Hope it helps. :)

You probably have to extend the rom file. On the website (google toads tool 64) and you can find the rom extender. Extend that rom file, then you can edit it.

It's hard to make an easy editor for SM64.

SM64 is the most complex Mario game. Its level format and engine structure is patchy and convoluted.

The main reason is that it was built at the same time as the development tools and the N64 hardware itself, and those changed a lot during development, leading to a lot of patchy code

Also, 3d editing is inherently more difficult than 2d editing. You can see the entire layout of a 2d level in a single image, 3d requires you to move the camera around.
