When I watched 'Laverne & Shirley' it was specifically for Penny Marshall. Penny got her revenge in the end, the only thing I remember about the final season of Laverne & Shirley was how attractive Laverne was. The pretty hair, the nice shape, the nice legs and the big pretty eyes. Who knows, that director probably never worked again.

She did feel the same, she took Penny's stand-in place, crossed out "Homely" and wrote "Plain" instead, sensing Penny's insecurity bout her appearance.
During the filming of this commercial, Penny & Farrah were in the makeup chairs, the director had a couple of interns stand in for them to set the lighting. He gave one girl a sign that read PRETTY the other sign read HOMELY. Farrah saw this, bolted out of the chair and told the director exactly what she thought of his rude signs. She took his marker & crossed out HOMELY, then she looked at Penny who said "Write plain, that's the best I can hope for sitting by you."
This commercial was originally seen around 1972, when both Penny and Farrah were "struggling actresses", working in commercials inbetween TV guest shots. This was from one of Penny's appearances on "THE ROSIE O'DONNELL SHOW" (circa 2000), where Rosie surprised Penny by reminding her just how far she'd come...
