This is excellent, I had always thought that there were commonalities between Tao Te Ching philosophy and the transcendental meditation, this clarifies everything very well
Noone even knows if 'Lao Tzu' even existed. There's no evidence, or even where and when the Dao De Jing came about. Now there's this story about a trip to India and a city wall guard? Few scholars would seriously claim that it seems written by one person or at one time.
Humanity needs to share the Earth in wisdom and cooperation for our common needs and well being. Once we do away this Market mechanism of dehumanisation, distortion and destructions for the private gain of a few. This web of monetary wage slavery of immense humanity is the template of war, enviornmental destructions, animal cruelty and so on .Lets rise above this minority false imposition and evolve the new humanity.
Whilst watching the video I thought of the name Aengus, which has great significance in the Irish tradition of knowledge. It may be expressed slightly differently as Aongaois, which literally means the Wisdom of One. He was said to have had his abode at Brú na Bóinne, which was built in such a way that at dawn on the the winter solstice a narrow beam of sunlight for a short time illuminates the floor of the chamber at the end of the long passageway. The One illuminates the darkness.
Lao Tse was a great sage 500 years after Buddha. Not sure if he was enlightened though. He said, "This secret is not to explore, Because it is without an origin, Would the secret to be explored, It would be unveiled in this way. Only as an origin of a still greater more secret." With all due respect, the state of Nirvana along with the metaphysics and exploration paths to get there was perfected by Gautama Buddha, not Lao Tse.
I don't think it's a competition, with only one true Knower of Reality. As Dr. Morris said, all the great sages have expressed the same Reality of life, each in language and terms suited to their culture. So Gautama Buddha expressed Reality and defined the path to enlightenment in his own way, suitable to his time and place. Lao Tse did the same for his culture. The Vedic literature expressed Reality in ancient India. Reality is eternal; the expressions change with circumstances.
I think Buddha and Laotse were not interested in any kind of proselytism and ideological discussion of their internal experience..competetion stem from people's ego.
By not "exploring" I think he means you should "live it" not "seek it." If you "Seek it" you create "desire." And "desire" keeps you from "living it."
@docdakota I appreciate your comment as it reminds us of Lao Tzu's wisdom where he said that, "Those who say, do not know. Those who know, do not say."
Lao Tse did not want to go to Indian, I remember!!

Indeed. The Buddha said there are 84 000 dhamma doors. One should research broadly and find a suitable way for oneself.

In the reasearch that I have done, most scholars seem to agree that Lao Tzu as an individual didn't actually exist.
And The Buddha lived within a culture that already had a long tradition of meditation techniques.

Unfortunately , for now , your own insistance to know, keeps you from it .
Hopefully ,( this was two years ago) , you have been quickened , and understand .
The journey is to here from here , it's an inward revolving , one need not do , only be !
