  • I wished for it to be a trollface! D:

  • rbrbrbrbjjbrkJRBRJBRBJRJBRK *SPLAT*

    -Mind Blown-

  • I like the other kids drawing better -.- and it only took them one class period.

  • the kid's a Tree Killer

  • WHALE MY ASS ,

  • That i some shitty looking whale.

  • The picture doesn't look like a whale to me...it looked like someone doing kamehameha :/

  • That's shows you not to jump to conclusions

  • これはすごい 天才だよ ・・素晴らしいです。

  • @hiroaki22 write in english.

  • hes drawing his teachers bush after he saw up her skirt

  • perhaps they should have given him black paper and a white crayon, to draw the outline with, probably would have been quicker :L

  • the whole world's supply of black crayon for a single whale?

  • hope that last piece was an eye

  • Is this how they advertise anti marijuana in japan? If you spend 7 hours drawing a whale, you must be bluntin like a beast.

  • as whales go, it could have been better. Am I wrong?

  • It's not real... it's a scripted video to help us understand.

  • @maryannkohl well duhhhh

  • Well, the kid had to mentally estimate just how many black sheets to draw, and keep track of what he has drawn because the pieces were not in his disposal as he drew additional pieces. Abstract Memory.

  • 1:20 - Who decided where to leave out the last piece for the eye?

  • this commercial is absolutely brilliant

  • LAWL! The comments by Krahl123 made me laugh SO hard!!!

  • holy crap x.0

  • That was awesome!! Neat message: Look at the bigger picture...

  • LOL !! A shitty whale??? i was expecting a invention >:O

  • All that and it was a shitty fucking whale?

  • would have been cool if it was a real story :p

  • it's a rip of an X-Files episode

  • would have been really cool if it was something better

  • agreed

  • wow...how cute ^____^

this is just another creative way a person/child can do to express oneself.

    great commercial!!

  • Lol. xD

  • @Krahl123

You idiot. That's the whole idea: Drawing a whale as big as a real whale is.

  • krahl123 you are an idiot!!!

  • FOOLS!

  • great commercial

  • I thought all asians were geniuses

  • nice idea, but the drawing was shitty

  • :05 Pikachu!!!

  • ahahahahahhaahha

  • next time he is told to draw the empire state building, now that's a problem . . .

  • thats a shit whale

    no blubber for dinner tonight

    draw better miagiason

  • Thats a penis

  • beautiful music!

  • genius?

  • LOL! a whale! imo!

  • I'm not sure why, but this reminds me of the movie "A Beautiful Mind"....

  • Wow, the intolerance here on the message board is simply mind-blowing. Is it not OK to say anything critical? My message was deleted like it was plague. I only said, "That is a mental problem" and, "I'd stop giving him paper...". The assumption is that he is a genius and my counter assumption is that he has a mental problem. I only made this extreme assumption to bring light on the absurdity of the prevailing assumption.

  • thank you.

  • omfg.... guys i dont know if you already get it, but this is just a commercial... kay?

jeez all the i am smart fact are annoying...

  • LOL, funny :D

  • He could be drawing some black bears fighting some black panthers in a dark forest at night.

  • haha,u r right

  • I love this video!

  • Why is everyone giving him thumbs down? You are 50% correct. Perhaps you have looked too deeply into the title "Child Genius". This child is not a genius, because this video only demonstrates his capabilities of creativity. On the other hand, this is not a psychological disorder. Philosophers must distinguish themselves into a child's perspective of looking at things in order to obtain deeper knowledge. Do not simply state your opinion as if it were fact.

  • I'm not stating it as fact, I'm saying that in jest.

  • lol poor guy, thumbs, i feel bad for you : )

  • why r u guys fighting over the comments page. it has nothing to do with the video. lol

  • This video shows a child going beyond the task. He shows creativity by setting up his picture in a diverse way. This will be completely unrelated to the video, but most gifted, or talented people are not recognized by society. They are usually in vain, or are purposely discouraged for their ability to reach further. Interaction has been a variable that has caused changes and events to occur. Without it, life may cease to exist as we know it. There are fewer gifted people due to that very reason.

  • @royfancoolguy This is called Savant syndrome -_- In other words the boy is autistic.

  • I really thought he was drawing Samara LOL

  • The sad thing about most people, even if they have an above average IQ. Is that they don't keep their minds in shape. Pure speculation on my part, but with so much easy entertainment in tap these days, like TV, there is no need for the vast majority to think about anything apart from the bare necessities. Most people don't explore their creativity, or whatever. Just my opinion, not necessarily a correct observation. Most people are capable of astounding things, but just don't bother.

  • I have an above-average IQ but what i think makes a genius are three things: memory, creativity and comprehension(or the ability to comprehend)

  • do you mean memory skills or a natural ability to memorize stuff; photographic memory?

  • Are you left-handed?

  • Note that you got a thumb down; quite likely because you admitted to the sin of being above average in intelligence.

    It really grinds most people.

  • ? whats wrong with having an above average IQ and admitting it?

  • Essentially nothing wrong with it but while you can admit to have musical talent or an above average ability in sports and so on and be admired for it, people can become offended if you admit to being more intelligent than average.

Those of us who have the curse and the insatiable curiosity that comes with it have a tendency to read a lot and in the words of so many I have encountered over the years become "Too damn smart for our own good."

As a result we often attempt to hide it.

    Cont.

  • People who have to study hard have a tendency to resent those of us who find it so easy to pick up a book and pretty much absorb the information in a single reading while understanding the subject without much effort.

I find the curiosity itself to be a curse sometimes.

There is a need to know things in some of us that can dominate our lives and make it difficult to be interested in things normal people are interested in.

That can make us seem odd to normal folks and that can create problems.

  • I guess ur right. Especially in interviews it's hard to convey the idea that one has exceptional ability without making it sound vain. That's wrong though - i think alot of the human genius is untapped because intelligent expression is often shunned/ridiculed for no reason except jealousy and conformity.

  • how much above ?

can you do stuff for me ?

i got 159 that was my highest score ever.

    Wanna be my pal ?

    By buddy ?

  • lollllll

  • imagination upon substantial logic, to be pursued by stubborn determination, and presenting useful contributions to the society is the correct way to word a genius.

intelligence can be displayed by interests, enhanced by efforts, and expressed by attitudes. intelligence is a key factor in creativity only if you have the three qualities named above.

someone lacking reasoning for his random and dangerous actions, or simply purposeless can be considered as a fool.

  • i'm sure the quote was spelled properly originally though....

  • This child...

Genius is described as possessing both creativity, and intelligence. Imagination is far more important than intelligence, stated by Einstein himself.

  • imagination does not equal creativity

  • Did you even read my statement correctly? The last sentence had nothing to do with the sentence above. It was a basic phrase with diverse meaning. Also, imagination can develop habits in creating creativity.

  • Genius is a feeling and a way of life as to what you do every day and on a daily basis. Genius cant be measured it can only be sustained till th point of no return.....

  • The original meaning of the term 'genius' referred to abilities that were thought to be beyond human - i.e. conferred by a resident daemon or djinni (latin genius) conferring magical powers.

Thus a man might be referred to as having a genius (special ability) for this or that without implying general intellectual ability (or what is now referred to as high IQ).

  • I agree...genius should define "outside box thinker". Like with an IQ near 130 (HA HA) I always see naked woman when I cross Queen's University. Or a girl being raped when I have to face quantum mechanics. And always when someone says "Aristole" I think of a naked man running down the street screming: LOOK AT ME! I'M OBAMA 5000!

  • he draw an realistic whale?awesome~!...

  • the kid's still going to be in the mental institution

  • that was a crappy whale. that kid fails.

    j.k.

  • agreed, no jokes

  • now thats a actual-size image (considering the whale is 1)

  • wen i was a child. almost all my relatives n pipol around me discourage me how to draw. i envy dos kids. i hoped i was reincarnated in dt place ... Y_Y

  • Genius means they focus more on something which most people dont give any thought to.

It's simply that the motivation to teach yourself something or concentrate on something that would classify you as a genius is generally not powerful enough for you to see it to completion unless it's grounded in the subconcious somewhere with a deep emotional trigger and it just happens that these triggers only really form in early childhood.

  • nick153452, I suggest you don't youtube while drunk. It may lead you to think you are smarter than you really are, and thus will lead to comments such as the ones below.

    regarding the video, oh shit.

  • japanese ppl are sooo smart!!!

  • check out iqrenaissance. com

  • Check out "Relapse"2-player board game by Jeffery A. Krueger

  • This shows how they shun the children that aren't normal. The 'unimportant' people, like autistic, mentally retarded, and just plain crazy children. Then they realize unimportant are really important. Adults need to realize the world can be seen in many different perspectives, and the abnormal abilities become some of the most intelligent or unique

  • i have to agree with you on that, i used to be dissed for being shy, even by parents! But look whose laughing now!

  • Its from Japan with korean subtitles~

  • wow personally although being intelligent is quite cool i mean who would want an obsessive kid like that just to draw a whale? i've seen kids paint the mona lisa and they're not that obsessive...a lil exageration on behalf of japanese commercials...

  • Maybe you didn't grasp the point of the commercial............................ Then again, I wouldn't expect that from an average youtube viewer.

  • *yawn* tell the kid to stop wasting earth's resources and go out more, yeesh....and you aswell, go out more and stop replying to comments made a year ago!

  • Lol how can you be busy? I'm at my final year of uni and i'm not that busy, i still find time to socialise. Your just an psycopath introvert who has nothing better to do with his time then comment on a stupid vid. I "HAHA" what are you? Poofter?

  • Do you mind if I call you George?? Ok I'll call you George.. Ok.. Let's begin here. I am a full time university student, I have a 3.84 GPA and I also have two jobs at my university. I do a lot of volunteer work and also am active in clubs. I am a double major trying to complete them both in 4 years.

I easily put in 70-80 hours a week in work and stuff.

I have a hard time believing that somebody so clueless could be in a good college. You don't understand the point of this commercial.GEORGE

  • Ok can i call you Herbert? Ok i'll call you Herbert. It's hard to imagine you spend 70 hours a week working and stuff and still find time to comment on some videos. I spend 30 hours a week working and i'll still make a better living then you.

  • You're in college, you don't have a living. I on the other hand have far more opportunity than you after college...... No point in arguing with me there, if you only work 30 hours in classes, you're going to be like all the other college students and end up working at a pizza factory or something... Really you aren't worth my time, you're right. Good lucky after college................... You'll probably need it..

  • Horrible horrible writing from someone at a university :(

  • at first i thought it was gonna be something like the ring lol... i was freaking out

  • wasn't it the movie pulse...

  • omg same...

  • OMFG yo, I was thinking the same thing. I thought he was drawing Samara or something; got so scared!

  • Can someone tell me which country this is from?

  • definitely it's Japan

  • korea

  • japan with english and korean subtitles

  • i like him

  • ADHD

  • they asked him...what he was drawing...but he didnt bother answering...

  • that's awesome :)

  • Glad he doesnt know the whale lives in the sea...

    otherwise。。。。。

  • HAHAHA

  • Somebody will have to explain this to me. I don't get the joke.

  • the jokes means that if the kid knew whales live in the sea he would have drawn the sea too...its just a joke..

  • me either

    =D

  • hahahahah!

  • why u are laughing? this is not fun, seriously!

  • OMG!

  • lol i thought it was a eye drop

  • Children's intelligence and brilliance is wasted. Gee, let's ship the little bugger off to school. That will instill curiosity in them, by being told what to do for 6 hours a day. Good fucking job.

  • who didnt see that coming?............

  • if that teacher haven't found that puzzle, that kid probably would be in dat metal hospital forever..

  • friggin amazing genius baby

  • i think it means that parents should not dismiss their child as unintelligent or not special right away just cuz they are different. the adults in this skit gave the child a lot of attention and really tried to see what the child was seeing. that was the only way they found out how smart he truly was which they would not have seen if they completely dismissed his abilities or ignored him.

also this skit was really creepy to me cuz it reminded me of "the ring".

  • This also means that Maybe Crazy people arent all that crazy....maybe they are Sane and we are crazy....

  • WoW, akiflyer, your probably right!?

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!

  • Amazing and really creative clip itself. I am really surprised to see the ending - wonderful!

  • i think it means to think outside the box

  • wow

    stunning

  • thats clever.

  • it means think big

  • And also that humans don't think in one general way, and just because one person sees the world in a different way doesnt mean they're insane, unless they're physcopathic killers...

  • this is an amazing commercial! I hope they run it hear too, more ppl need to see this and get it.

  • Wow, great commercial.

  • duuuh'd swet vid muhn

  • One Video.

    Many Opinions.

(it is ok to have your own opinions but be tolerant to other people's opinions as well. Afterall, everyone is entitled to their own thoughts.)

A long way to go before world unity and harmony... if only it is as easy as putting a whale together. Wait... I am not a mad child! lol

Thanks everyone for your comments, it is really enriching for the whale.

  • That was really cool.

  • they put him in a hospital! its sad!

  • it's to show the stupidity of mankind...

  • they put him in a hospital! its sad!

  • Wow, there's such a meaningful and inspiring message to this ad. I hope they run it in the US, since alot of parents here are paranoid as fuck about their children.

  • A WHALE...... xD

  • It's soooo true...we are paranoid...:(

  • that's amazing!

I never thought it would end like that...

    AMAZING!

  • WOW

  • MEANINGFUL VID:D

  • i agree!

  • so a teacher told their students to draw themselves and every child did, except one. He left the paper blank. The teacher called counselors and the parents to see what was wrong with the child. When the parents finally came and asked the kid, how come he left the sheet blank and didn'
