the thing about mma pratitioners are that the often overestimates their arts. in actual fights, mma ppl think that they have the upper end but thats is often not the case. mma is only good for 1 to 1 fights, as ground fights is only applicable to one on one. if its a gang fight, mma fighters will still need to use traditional stand up fighting techniques as ground fighting and submissions will only get themselves killed from a head kick from a third party
Not all MMA guys wrestle, but going to the grounbd 1on1 in the street is still dangerous even if you know BJJ,they could have a knife or do things not alowed in MMA. MMA guys would definatly have a better chance fighting a gang than just some normal guy. But take away the rules of the Octagon, and throw in a guy with a knife or a chair and what happens then? MMA is a game, it has rules, but dont be fooled, an MMA fighter does know how to hurt people, punch to the face hurts in the ring and out.

It was a demo to showcase the martial arts of North Korea... It wasn't intended to show what an actual fight was like. The woman was just showing how powerful Taekwondo was.
Compared with south korean taekwondo, North korean tkd SUCKS. This girl is slow and unskilled compared with (for example) a south korean female bantamweight national champion. There's literally no contest. Training is so different in north and south korea. Much more modern and scientific in the south.
The North Korean tae kwon do style is ITF, and the south korean tae kwon do style is WTF, there is a difference ITF focuses on power, while the WTF focuses on technique. Power is the last thing they focus on.
You had to have been there the boards they broke were literally 3 inches thick, and if your son tried to break on of those boards he would've broken his foot and then broken his self-esteem.

the thing about mma pratitioners are that the often overestimates their arts. in actual fights, mma ppl think that they have the upper end but thats is often not the case. mma is only good for 1 to 1 fights, as ground fights is only applicable to one on one. if its a gang fight, mma fighters will still need to use traditional stand up fighting techniques as ground fighting and submissions will only get themselves killed from a head kick from a third party

Not all MMA guys wrestle, but going to the grounbd 1on1 in the street is still dangerous even if you know BJJ,they could have a knife or do things not alowed in MMA. MMA guys would definatly have a better chance fighting a gang than just some normal guy. But take away the rules of the Octagon, and throw in a guy with a knife or a chair and what happens then? MMA is a game, it has rules, but dont be fooled, an MMA fighter does know how to hurt people, punch to the face hurts in the ring and out.

First off ITF does not focus on power.
However it's not impossible to break a 3 inch board. It just takes training, and focus.
On a side note about Karate and ITF being old and cheesey... I'd like to see an MMA guy break through 7 half inch boards with a kick like they do in those "cheesy" martial arts.

Compared with south korean taekwondo, North korean tkd SUCKS. This girl is slow and unskilled compared with (for example) a south korean female bantamweight national champion. There's literally no contest. Training is so different in north and south korea. Much more modern and scientific in the south.

The North Korean tae kwon do style is ITF, and the south korean tae kwon do style is WTF, there is a difference ITF focuses on power, while the WTF focuses on technique. Power is the last thing they focus on.
