hello. You either love him or just dont get it.its always the way with him.i love him.blackmore, disembarkation is the right word.get off the mothership if you havent brought your proper kit.report to the head.
In spite of the 'fan-club' applause at the end, I saw this show and I clearly remember the crowd chatter. At the time "Peggy Suicide" hadn't been released so songs like "Pristeen" were unknown and for me, amidst the Julian-devotees-all, very dull. It may have been during this song or... "Promised land" when I said to a friend "Wish the crowd would be quiet" to which she replied "Can you blame them?"
JC's audience had already embraced Post-Punk Julian, Scott-Walker-Epic Julian, Garage-Folk-Psyche Julian and even Pop-Rock-Radio Julian but... 2 chord 60's-US-Garage-Band Julian with an American accent was the disembarkation point for me.
Listening today to the genius of the 1st 2 1984 solo albums ("World Shut Your Mouth" & "Fried" tells me that while Iggy Pop, The MC5 and 'Kraut-Rock' may be useful reference points, to emulate them so vigourously and... so well is best avoided. Especially for a songwriter with such a uniquely 'English' voice.
Peggy Suicide is without doubt one of the greatest albums ever, ever.....It is a fucking masterpiece...If u want inspiration, and haven't listened to it....just fuckin listen to it now....
This beautiful man should be hailed in the same legendary status as Morrissey. Julian Cope is just on another planet his brain alone should be kept in a jar and preserved. Great upload, well played ;)
I saw him perform this song live on the peggy suicide tour @ metro in Chicago. A guy in the front row dowsed Julian with his water bottle and Julian jumped from the stage and had a few words with the guy and restarted the song by saying "Pristeen: Take Two". The audience went wild.
Me too - share a dressing room with him and the Pop Guns and 5 30

Blackmore. you ever think that maybe he song is meant to be repetetive to go with what the subject matter is.

Yes. I've no problem with "repetitive" as long as what's being repeated holds some interest.
