  • too bad honda doesnt make this bike anymore.

  • @crashedupderby they do but not a liquid cooled r version

  • @hondaspeed152

then thats not the same bike.

  • 2:55 What a god

  • what is this from?

  • @eelmcd Its a Baja 1000 movie called "dust to glory"

  • like it

  • no no Please no ending

  • at 3:01 i really really thought he crash what a powerful ass BIKE

  • is awesome video

  • Where can we find the full video? Sick race, epic video, honda power.

  • @vaughnage92 its from a video about the baja 1000, my buddy has it, its pretty good. It tells you all about all the little things that go into putting on an event like this.

  • that beach shot was effin doooope hahah

  • what is this from? is it a like documentary or somethin?

  • Malcom Smith will always be the king of the desert.

  • This is awesome love to do the baja 1000 someday!!

  • My dad rides a XR250R but i'm on a ktm 200 exc. Both awesome bikes. what movie is this from?

  • Is it normal to get horny off of these kinda videos?

  • the fact that these bikes and guys reach over 100mph in places is crazy and testament to the riders bravery, bikes reliability and the tuners that develop the bikes. the fact these start out as a fairly wheezy xr650 shows how versatile the xr is. great bikes with a range for full on desert racing at the top level down to begginers who need a smooth motor with enough power to have fun yet not be intimidating. nice vid

  • I'd trade my wife for this bike......if I had a wife

  • Where is the end of this?

  • honda should bring an updated version soon. CRF just not for everyday use, or extended touring

  • thanks know i have to watch dust to glory today lol

  • the dislike buttons like justin biebers dick it grows when fagots touch it...

  • @Juggernautishere They don't produce anywhere near that much power. It depends if you are measuring power at the crank or the wheel but 60hp (wheel) is about the limit for the XRR (unless you really get stuck into it, do we count turbochargers? More CCs? Changes in compression? etc etc). Unless you throw a lot of money at it, the XRL produces low 30s and the XRR low 40s as far as bhp goes. Yeah, I know power differs from dyno to dyno. For e.g. I had a dyno rate my R1200GS at 130bhp (crank) lol.

  • I got a friend that tarded one out for the street and rails the hell out of some canyon roads. This thing pulls from some sportbikes in the straights.

  • how does the klx 650and the xr 650 stack up aginst each other in stock condition, wondering because im lookin at a klx

  • @wind2jammer the xr is better for dirt the klx more of a commuter

  • esta movie esta pasada de lansa de llama dust to glory perrisisisisma la neta

  • i'm so sad...no more xr's are made

  • @chucktherock91 the XR650L is still made. Stip the turn signals, metal gas tank and emission crap and you have a brand new 650R

  • @EatmyDust1311 doesn't the suspension differ, as well as aircooled vs watercooled, etc?

  • @kalmte123 they 'might' tune it slightly differently due to the added weight of a water jacket, but that can be easily adjusted for

  • @EatmyDust1311 The XR650R and XR650L are completely different bikes. In fact, turn signals, some electrical, some plastics, levers and oil filters, are the only common parts between the XRL & XRR. This is true across most XR series bikes. If you compare the parts lists between the bikes you will find that they share only a few parts. Suspension, frame and engine don't have 1 common part between the XRR & XRL (Apart from bolts and the like). EatmyDust has obviously never seen the two bikes.

  • @Pwn00b troll

  • @EatmyDust1311 Also, you 'should' know that the XRR is 277lb VS the XRL's 324lb (both dry). So where is this 'added weight' that you are talking about? Obviously the suspension is tuned different... they have COMPLETELY different suspension units (front and back, even brand) on COMPLETELY different bikes. Everyone who has ever bothered to research the bikes, much less own them knows all of this. Stop making things up and talking like an expert. I'm no expert, just an owner, and I know this.

  • @Pwn00b Do you know how was the reason for Honda didnt make this incredible motorcycle?

  • @MrDoso39 The main reason was marketing; Honda wanted to transfer from the XR line to the CRF line. Basically, more consumers started to buy bikes based primarily on their stats; weight, power, how many races they won this year... The XR650R was not designed for the same pure-performance application as the CRF450 but people were comparing the XR650R to the CRF, WR and KLX which is not the point. Recently, people have going back to bigger thumpers (690 Enduro etc) but its too late for the XR650R

  • @Pwn00b it is a pretty bad reazon, because there isnt any similar motorcycle like this in any other mark inclusive. My 650r have a acerbis tank and y like to do travels for my large country. Thanks you.

  • @EatmyDust1311 these bike are commpletely different. suspension frame etc. plz quit pretending you know anything... no more bad advice. the r is way better and the motor is water cooled.

  • @rideredification no, the frame is the same. the engine on the r doesnt have the emissions equipment and the suspension is tuuned more for street riding. other than that, its "basically" the same machine. of course there are more details but i have no time to explain it all.

  • Nice save ! XRS RULE ! super light... no, super fun... yes. will your bike be in the shop... no. youll be out riding while your buddys super fancy expensive bike is busted. i believe 2010 is the last year for even the xr650l. get ready for much pricier bike$ from honda in the future. the XRS were hands down the most fun on 2 wheels !

  • sick!

  • i loved that movie. Dust to glory :)

  • i wanna go riding noww! D:

  • Hondas kick ass

  • baha sucks

  • @parmstrong32x no, but your spelling does

  • i did the baja on a crf230f but with many mods

  • @ridecrazy11 how do u join??

its my dream to race in this

  • @ridecrazy11 how do u join??

its my dream to race in this

  • that is a red pig, the off road king!

  • HONDA BRING BACK THE XR650R !

  • ive always wanted to run the baja on somthing stupid, i have an odle atc 125m, no suspension or anything, i may try to run it on that (probly not) lol

  • you guys can get the whole movie of the baja 1000 , its called, "dust to glory"

  • good movie, sad at the end n stuff it makes ya feel like no more riding lol

  • They talk about possibly missing the check point, but it is a chance they were going to take to catch up with the leader. He has a freaking headset to talk to the helicopter, which would be able to see the checkpoint. Talk about a dirty, cheating team. Let the two race and see who comes out ahead. Andy kicked ass. I have watched this movie and clips more than any other movies or clips. It still gives me the chills. Racing kicks ass and always will. i am older now but still love to get out and ri

  • very true the faster u go the more stable. I love my X650!! Just lean back and hit the power and it acts like a Trophy truck over the bumps!!

  • XR 650 R, the most stable and confident feeling bike I ever ridden. The faster you go the more stable. Only minus, lots of vibration in the bars made my hands numb, but that didnt stop me from twisting the throttle. I haven been this excited about a bike since the '77 RM 125. Oh, anyone ride the KTM 950 se yet?

  • There is something very special about an XRR, people go on and on about 450's, they are a lot lighter, and make a lot of power, but until you have ridden ann XR650R somewhere that it was made to run(fast fire road, desert, DS), you will just never understand. The torque that these bikes make is so sweet and so fun. Sure on paper 450's make about as much HP, but the pigs power is just so different. You can also wear out 3 or 4 450's before one XR, thats where a lot of that weight comes from.

  • You are absolutely right about the XR. It is a blast to ride. But the thing is if you are riding track the 450, any brand, kicks it but because of weight and power. I have the 450 for track but if I could (hopefully on day) I would have both.

  • baja 650R

  • Outstanding pictures!

  • I rode an XR 650 R across the entire United States 11,000 miles on the Trans-America trail. Trust me, this bike is so rediculously AWESOME!!!! My XR 650 R is a daily driver and goes over 100+ MPH with mods. I can't say enough about this legendary motorcycle. They are AMAZING!! And as far as comfort, yeah its nowhere near as comfortable as a BMW but when you've been riding a dirt bike for many years all I use is a beaded seat cover and I'm good for 400+ miles on or off-road!!!!

  • @bmurman222 I used to own the 2002 xr650r and sold it, needless to say im buying another one in about 5 weeks. It is a true offrode king!!!

  • @bmurman222 how did u get the r street legal?

  • @bmurman22

there is no set lines in the baja , you pass check points and it doesnt matter how you get to them , guys get lost for hours and finish in the standings , parts break, accidents happen , some teams just flat out have endless amounts of money to spend, take any line you can and finish in the top . this was good racing

  • A stock XR650R will outstrip virtually any stock dirtbike on the planet. Very few (if any) dirtbikes can touch 100mph, the XR will pull 110mph out of the crate... with no alterations... across the desert. The XR650R's ability as a Baja machine is beyond dispute, just watch the video above if you're in any doubt. For bullet proof performance without crippling service intervals, there's no other machine like it.

  • The XR 650R is an incredible desert racer. It has won every professional desert race its entered . It remains one of the few stock dirt bikes that can touch 100 mph

  • this movie is awesome. ive watched it over and over and over.

but to 450 vs 650, the 450 wins. sorry. this was filmed in 07 or earlier, before the technology to make a 450 last 1000 miles straight was availible. thats why it took them so long to adapt to the distance. now that they have, theyre better in every way. much more hp can come from the moto motor than the 650. thoes factory 450s are faster/lighter/stronger/better handling than the 650s. ture though, the 650 is and will be legendary

  • Ever been on an XR650R fella? FUCKIN' BIBLICAL.. (you obviously couldn't get hold of one and had to settle for it's little bro... no problem though, at least it's a Honda) No offence, 450's are good, but there's never going to be another 650R.

  • 110 on a fucking BEACH! Try doing that on your 450!

  • ...well where can i watch stuff like this on tv?

  • its nice that you used the footage from "dust to glory"

  • . FInally the XR650R has a bullet proof engine, unlike the CRF which needs more costly maintenance. Its not uncommon to see 30,000kms on a XR650R with zero motor work. Something you will never see on a CRF.

  • Agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats why Honda dont want them LOL

    Bit like 2T

They know people are a bit uuhhh what can I say .... dumb and are willing to fork out hard earned cash for no reason, so sell a bike that needs new piston & rings every 22hours (Thats the manual!!!! 22 hours?????!!!!!!!)

  • Those numbers are straight from Honda. Honda's choice to discontinue the XR650R was a pure marketing decision, there is a bigger market for CRF450R riders. I have a buddy who owns a XR650R and the rest of my friends have modified their 450's but can NOT stay with the XR on the top end. The XR has alot more torque which means it can pull a higher gear ratio.

  • Comment removed

  • there is a reason why the only use honda's for this and why they only use 4strokes for this kind of stuff

  • @MrPierrestam

Is there a reason the last ten years finish times are slower than all the years before???? - LOOK IT UP <- FACT

The XR650 makes slightly more HP and torque than a 450R

    450R=11500rpm

    650R=7500rpm

    Check the dyno's

The XR650 is not a lot faster in the open than a 450X!!! That is why pro's do NOT choose a 650 but rather ride a 450X Lighter and easier to ride than a tank.

Dont be struck by a YouTube Vid - Check the facts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

650 = Nice to go to the shops on

    LOL

  • Alot of what you said is true: Here are the numbers:

    XR650R : (HP-61) & (Torque - 60ft/lbs)

    CRF450R : (HP - 55) & (Torque - 36ft/lbs)

  • Hmmm.. you wish you had a 650R, don't you.. lol!!

  • Not at all - I'm into Enduro, trIals & trails.

    I run a 200 and a 300 2 stroker!

If I wanted to pop down to the local shops for some milk the 650 may be nice...but other than that no not really!

  • You've never ridden one have you...

  • Youve never ridden an Enduro have you?

I dont do desert events, I do woods rivers, rocks and ledges. I have NEVER seen ANYBODY silly enough to bring one to a woods event! You WILL need to be the governor of Cali to get it over the 5000th log or to carry it out of the rocks/bog holes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I have ridden one, but never owned one...never felt the need to have one!

Simply put dont know what the rave is about.

  • That's exactly the point, the XR650R was designed specifically for desert events. If you don't do desert events then how would you know what the rave was about? If you don't do desert events then how do you qualify to comment on the performance?

  • How is it that you seem to think you know something about a race other than statistics or bits and bobs you have read here and there ... and that all the way from the UK - YOU LIVE 18000km from the event LOL

Have you done a Desert event or a local Enduro in the UK that makes you able to comment OR do you just ride yours up and down a road?

Have you done even ONE Enduro...or even been to watch one ROTFLMAO

This road work gives you a supreme Enduro experience???

  • @JustEnduro I HAVE TRAVEL ALL SOUTH AMERICA ON MY KLR , RIVERS, ROCK, LEDGES never seen anybody silly enough to bring a kids bike

( ex pro trial biker from costa rica )

  • Travelling on a 650 or whatever up and down roads IS NOT AN ENDURO OR A RACE! Its a nice holiday in South America. ITS NOT A ENDURO its a holiday as done by 1000's of others across the world and yes best done on a 650 or MORE!

Real Enduro best done on a SMALL LIGHT WEIGHT BIKE - YEP EVEN A TRIALS BIKE! AND A LOT ARE DONE ON A TRIALS BIKE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANY FOOL THERE ON A 650!!!!

I have done Enduro for years and have NEVER EVER seen a 650 participate!

I would wish you luck!!! LOL

  • If you were a PRO as you put it TRIAL bike rider, THEN YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT AN ENDURO IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A) Doubt the PRO bit!!

    B) Doubt the TRIALS BIT!!!!

Next time you do a TRIALS event USE THAT TANK OF YOURS - The 650 wink wink NUDGE NUDGE ..... LOL

You may ride a nice easy trAIl on it but a trIAl - Naaah & Enduro Naaaah

    You must be a comedian!

  • Comment removed

  • It seems I'm older than you are!!!

    And still going strong!!!!

I dont give a rats if your the president of Columbia - How is it meant to impress me that your a dentist? Whats your point?

As a dentist I would have assumed you might have had a bit more $ and bought the BMW rather than a redundant old bike that has not been in production for years!

If youre financially strapped the 650 is a good choice!

  • You think its a good idea to be 46 I wish I was 30+ years younger so that I could ride competition all over again! 46 = gone your use by date and now compete in VETERANS or in some cases now only ride up and down roads

As a Dentist on a XR650 proves youre not very financially smart Why would you need to buy a old bike and then feel like youre on the top of the pile In a Nano second could come up with better bikes to tour through various continents on

650 would NOT be on the shopping list!

  • The 450X has better times than the 650 as in the 450X is the fastest 4 stroke to complete = 8th fastest time achieved for the event on 2 wheels.

KX500 has the fastest time with Larry Roeseler in 1991 by SEVERAL HOURS!!!!

  • Although it's the same distance, The route varies yearly therefore you can't compare times between years.

  • It's pretty much the same route = 1000 miles

They shortened the event ONCE ONLY!!!

  • There's actually two routes mate, loop and point-to-point. Both are different lengths (incidentally, neither are 1000 miles, popular misconception though). Back to Wikipedia for you I'm afraid... LOL

  • I did not actually want to say that a stock CRF450R would and does destroy the XR650 on any terrain in any circumstances.

XR650 is a poor performer - it just has a big number on the side cover!

  • No, it's got a bigger engine, more horse power, and more torque..

  • Has LESS hp and LESS torque and is WHOLE LOT HEAVIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to check the facts ... not just assume you know the details!!!

Keyboard hero comments dont qualify - Post a dyno or two.

What has won in the last 5 years 650 or 450??? <- Go and look that up on wiki LOL

Why is HONDA about to scrap the 650 all together????

  • Where's your dyno proof? You can't just spout pish without producing the proof mate. By the way, the 650 has already been retired (more than two years ago). The 450 is simply more profitable due to it's parts usage and service intervals (also because the 650's almost a decade old now). Again, back to Wiki for you I think fella...

  • PROOF I already posted that...Read one of the comments that you thumbed down LOL

If youre that impressed with the performance of the bike I'm happy for you.

I'd say enjoy the bike...as for a tit for tat debate on YouTube I'll leave that to you as well...I'm sure it makes you feel good.

Hows the weather for riding in the UK right now?

Any good desert events to hone your skills on?

  • ..wasn't going to embarrass you by re-posting your original comment (because you completely contradicted yourself.. again) but since you insist, I take it you mean this comment..

JustEnduro: The XR650 makes slightly more HP and torque than a 450R

    450R=11500rpm

    650R=7500rpm

..think you need to seek help dude

  • Check out the dyno for the facts as I looked them up after...just to find out the 650 has LESS performance than a 450 WTF? I knew it was close

Amazed that you bought a bike that is slower than most motards and a WHOLE lot slower in every way than a 550 Aprilia After all you are only doing ROAD work with the bike - It must be the numbers on the side cover?

Performance is NOT its greatest point

    Reliability IS!

Whole lot slower than a dozen motards that will ride the same TAR roads

    Enjoy

  • @JustEnduro Post the figures and I'll educate you so that you don't continue to make this same mistake.

  • @banfordg .........lol please do so

  • What is it with this guy (JustEnduro)?? So much Venom and latent hostility towards the XRR. I'd love to know what his real story is... d'you think it's just that he'd like a new bike but can't afford one? Dunno... just trying to work out why you would be watching videos of the XRR when you own two small 2-stokes and don't do desert events...

  • Funny thing about those little 2 strokes is that the 650 only just produces more HP than the 200 That same little 200 is probably one of the most popular Enduro bikes in Europe!

650 compared to a 300 in the woods = NO COMP

Straight line drag also no comp to 80mph

HP and torque also no comp

Price unfortunately the 650 wins as it is a whole lot cheaper!

I never comped bikes as bikes are a personal choice. I like mine and dont EXPECT everybody to like them as well - Thats a bit juvenile

  • Go to Akropovic and search for XR650

    Read n weep!!!!!!!

There are DOZENS OF DYNO's to be found ALL OVER THE PLACE - Clearly they seam to be too hard to find for you guys....why is that?

Next time fill the waiting room at your surgery and maybe you too will be able to buy a Beamer like every other 46 year old dentist.

Im done here. Ill leave those in the dark to stay in the dark ---- Its a very big powerful monster of a machine..if that makes you feel better.

  • @JustEnduro Honestly mate (and I'm being deadly serious here), you need some help...

  • @JustEnduro... No sign of those illusive specs/dynos you promised, just silence... hmm

Ok, as promised I will attempt to educate you with regards to the difference in power output between the XR650R and the CFR450R (to save you embarrassing yourself in future..).

These are figures obtained directly from the Honda Dealer (measurements taken at flywheel)..

    XR650R

    Power 61.2hp @ 6750 rpm

    Torque 64Nm @ 5500 rpm

    CRF450R

    Power 56hp @ 9000 rpm

    Torque 50.7Nm @ 65000 rpm

  • You clearly are in dream land!

You posted them before and they were WRONG

You posted them again ...AND THEY ARE STILL WRONG!

The 650 is NO WHERE NEAR THE SAME HP AS A TWIN 550 APRILIA THAT REVS AT 12000RPM!!!!!

The 450R IS NO WHERE NEAR THAT!!!

EVEN THE MotoUSA DYNO'S ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THAT AND THEY ARE 4T FANS PAID BY JAPAN!!

Honda claimed 51hp for their 09 and every man and his dog knows it wasnt that...but you dont?

Go to AKRAPOVIC and search for XR650 you FOOL = 45hp stock

  • XR650R

    Power 45hp @ 6500 rpm

    Torque = LESS than a 450!!!!

    CRF450R

    Power 48hp @ 12000rpm

    Torque 42ft lbs @ 12000rpm

At 6500rpm the 450 is only just starting to rev - They do over 12000rpm before the limiter kicks in - You dont really know anything about bikes do you? Its all guess work there...right?

A 450 lives at OVER 10000rpm on a track LOL Why do you think they break so quick and require so many rebuilds?

  • @JustEnduro.. Yep, all guess-work. Honda are guessing too.. (after all, they only make both bikes LOL) Honestly, you need to treat yourself. Go and buy a new machine and get rid of the Chinese bikes, I said that it's ok...

  • No sign of those illusive specs/dynos you promised, just silence and BS... hmm

It was funny when you thought a 450 does its best work at 6500rpm - On the track they are doing OVER 12000rpm on the jumps.

Honda never stated 61hp for a 650 ever!!!

Honda never stated 56hp for 450 ever!!!

Please show me where on Honda they said that!!! I know I wont get a response to that LOL

    Check mate

You dont seem to be able to stick to the bikes, but prefer to become personal when you loose the plot LOL

  • @JustEnduro... Jeeees, did you miss this the first time?? I'm starting to think I'm arguing with some geriatric in an old folks home ROFL

These are figures obtained directly from the Honda Dealer (measurements taken at flywheel)..

    XR650R

    Power 61.2hp @ 6750 rpm

    Torque 64Nm @ 5500 rpm

    CRF450R

    Power 56hp @ 9000 rpm

    Torque 50.7Nm @ 6500 rpm

    What's wrong with you man?

  • No those are your number you made up.

Not only are they dumb, but a 10 year old can work out that they are MILES out. No bright spark required.

I have posted you links to actual dynos.

I have shown you where to look!

I think you have clearly made a fool of yourself with those numbers already.

At this point, I give up

The 650 is a roaring big powerful machine that is faster than lightning...there we go...you feeling better now?

  • @JustEnduro.. Get yourself down to the Honda dealership and confirm the official specs and then treat yourself (you're obviously a latent XR650R lover in denial). On the way home, nip into your local institution and get your own specs checked.. just for peace of mind. LOL

In all seriousness (and with all due respect) ride safe and take it easy...

  • thats a good movie ive watched it like 100 times no joke

  • my dad should bought one of these instesed of a stupid yamaha 225

  • Wow... this is frickin awesome. These guys are nuts... 110 MPH, flat out, offroad... that's crazy.

  • theres a reason they only use hondas for this kind of stuff

  • So glad I got my 650R before they became impossible to find. Freaking raped son of a bitch, I love her. <3

  • nice

  • Dust to Glory; greatest 650CC documentary ever.

  • Damn.. where is the rest of the video??? XR650R rules!! Damn shame it is no longer being offered...

  • hey, I have the dvd, its great, actually its a movie that they made about the baja 1000 look for it, the title of the dvd is DUST TO GLORY. good luck..

  • This is from the Movie: Dust to Glory, I have it on DVD and its one of my favorite movies of all time!

  • where the fuck is the rest god damn it

    damn good video

  • amazing vid

  • best bike ive had for a long time the 650r loves the australian desert not to bad on the fire trails aswell.they stoped making the 650r and the 400r because they were to damb reliable.didnt make any money on parts.

  • Big red pig, so damn sick gotta uncork mine. Anyone know where to pick up the other intake insulator online?

  • Honda please bring back the XR650R.

  • I have a Tornado XR250... my dream is to race on the baja 1000.

  • Im 15....

  • About 41 hp stone stock (in California, anyway), 50+ uncorked, 60+ with the power-up kit. Some guys get more than that. It just depends how much you want to spend!

I hope Honda will put that excellent motor in a dualsport bike soon, but for racing, the 450s are lighter and just as fast. Much higher maintenance, though. Race teams can afford it. Not me!

Mine handles freeways and mountain trails, no problem. Keep the oil changed, and the valves adjusted, and they'll last for years. KING!

  • I do not know why honda took this bike of production, I proove agaist the KTM 950 SM and the XR 650r is the best bike ever build overall

  • nice video motorcycles are easy to master! ;)

  • this is a section of the movie "Dust to Glory" one of the best offroad videos ive seen. its coverage of the 2007 Baja 1000

  • Close....2004. 2007 was the race from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas 1290 miles.

  • i watched this race live, it was an awesome race

  • what special is this? great vid i would love to see the rest.
