I watched the video again. You sir are correct he does not go back to a proper forward bow after the kick. GOOD EYE! That's a shame (on my part for not even pickin' that up) I study Kenpo so i am very fanmiliar with this set, not as familiar as I thought though! LOL Thanks for the lesson bro!
All this is, is a non moving pinan. Notice the I formation as such. Ive never seen someone do it in place before but it is definitely confusing old with the new.
uh.. 6th degree black belt and he doesn't close the gate/turn his foot back to good position after his step down from the kick? also, his targets are off and his timing is off.
@grendelhvs I went to your channel hoping you had posted the "correct" way to do this in order to solidify your point of view. But unfortunately you have not done that. Oh well.
@yojimbodesu If you review you'll see that he turns his front foot toes forward when he kicks, but doesn't "close the gate" / turn his toes back after kicking, in American Kenpo the front foot toes are turned in on forward and neutral bow and arrow stances, pointing toward 10 o clock when in a right foot forward neutral or forward bow and toes pointed toward 2 o clock in a left foot forward situation, these aren't the only stances that do so, just the ones in coordination set 1.
@yojimbodesu for targets, the first thrusting straight punch (lead hand) is to the face, which he does, but the 2nd punch (rear hand thrust straight punch) should go to the solar plexus, then kick to the groin and punch the face, then the next punch to solar plexus again. he isn't going through all 3 leg positions in his kicks. This comment isn't letting me include the link, you can go to kenponet . com - select the flame, written curriculum, forms/sets, coordination set 1 and see for yourself.

Thank you for this series. It has been an inspiration for me to get back training.
I love the 'boom-boom'. You seem to be really enjoying the workout.

Im not the person who made this video but I would surmise that it would teach to coordinate hand/foot strikes on the same side of the body.

In the B version, kicking and punching with same side. I need an explanation for it if you please.
