What an Oxymoron, and I stress the moron part more than the oxy. Who here knows what it means to spend more than you have? Look at our Federal Government as you would a credit card. Increasing the crdit limit, doesn't pay it off, nro does it reduce the amount you owe. It just gets bigger and bigger, until minimum interest exceeds the amount of available cash to pay the bill. You can ask for a creditlimit increase, but sooner or later, you need to pay the piper. Who's going to do that?
Yeah...raising the debt ceiling just allows us to pay the bills. Sure. I can see this in my own home finances. If I can't pay the bills....and my boss won't give me a raise (i know cuz I asked for 2 years), I can always go to my credit card company and have them increase my card limits.

One question for Trom8one: How do you pay debt by incurring even more debt? Where I come from, you reduce your debt by reducing your spending to below what you are brining in. So far, gov't has been unwilling to do this. But, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY!
These children's parents make over $250,000 a year. If they paid that debt in one lump, they'd still have a six-figure income to pay for their house in the suburbs, mini-van, and Dad's nice car.
The parents say that if the government takes more of their money, they couldn't afford to buy kids cardboard and markers to build their lemonade stand, or lemons and sugar to make the lemonade.
I hope the stand doesn't get robbed or catch fire, because the police and fire departments have been downsized.
The government has bought a lot of lemonade from these kids on credit. If the debt ceiling isn't raised, the government won't be able to pay that debt. The lemonade stand, like many small businesses, will close. The unemployed children will turn to petty crime, or join gangs.
