There was never a moment in the first movie where a huge jump was made when the two were together. The age jump was when Copper was out learning how to be a hunting dog, and Tod was still at the farm. This movie makes absolutely no sense.

It should have been about their kids. Not about them.

...what i don't get is that apparently in this film, chief and tod have already met each other...several times even. Yet in the FIRST movie, they don't meet until the day before chief/copper/amos leave for the hunting trip and then don't see each other again until spring (that's a total of 2 times). I swear, this movie is like...if they had taken a filming break during the first movie, accidentally left the cameras rolling while the cast went to the fair, then went back to shooting the original.

Some of the Disney "cheap-quels" do a better job at matching the tone and style of the originals than others. This one is one of the biggest fails. The 1981 original was very quiet and atmospheric. Sure, there was some comic relief, but the overall mood was somber. Just compare the first few minutes of both---they're complete opposites. The old one was quiet and moody.This one is loud, slapsticky, and has a freakin' pop song playing (!!!). And compared to the old one, the colors are garish.

This is much too light, Fox and the Hound was a tragic tale with so much raw emotion. It was beautiful, seriously the older movies are pretty much always more artistic... Also, I agree with boltwolfdogs if it had been their kids i'd be a technically different story it could have been better. I do make it a point to watch sequels of my favorite movies just to see if watching something new of the characters Ihave known and loved can bring back some nostalgia. Clearly many do that: over #! ;)
