  • I am positive, that should he have lived longer, John Denver would be one of the biggest supporters of wild horses and of permanently banning horse slaughter and also of banning transport to slaughter. John, you died too soon.

  • Thank you for this Awesome Video and Song!!!..Forever John Denver♥

    Marion

  • I use this Music Therapy....... guess what........it works ! John Denver never disappoints

and his messages/songs are universal.! Gives me goosebumps........he IS definitely

flying now...... his spirit is as he says, his soul is a free-flying thing. Yes, like a pony

that carries its master back HOME, he is in the Infinite Light.

  • Me encanta,es realmente hermosa.

  • good music

  • This powerful song should be put next to the part in the Koran when God created the

horse. What can one say .... words are so empty when the heart is so full. Thank you

John......... you will always be missed.

  • How I just love all that John Denver ever sang; his beautiful voice and songs that truly carried so much meaning and made you think and feel. This is a lovely video both in the song and in seeing John himself singing it. There are so many wonderful videos & songs on YT dedicated to him and it is in no way surprising. He was very special and another of the "greats" lost to the World but will never be forgotten. His voice and songs are beautiful and timeless. K xx

  • so beautifull music...and amazing John, of course:)

  • Favorited and put in Favorite Music Videos Playlist.

  • I can relate to this song because i dont let my friends take me over and i let myself fly

  • I would go as far to say that this is the best sounding live music video on you tube. i admit i am a fan of his but I have one word too discribe this performance and that is " tight "

  • Thank you, John...

  • Three people have no heart

  • this video looks like the places we used to camp and spend time with my Dad this song is my tribute to my wonderful Dad..even though his last wishes were not done like he deserves them to be..he is free..and is still with us forever..I love this song and video and Mr Denver too...

  • am transfixed to the hilt What a singer/performer

  • Sir John Denver's compositions are like anodyne&panacea for me it has completely absolved off all forms of physical&mental ailments& impediments&has given a new Philip to my sagging spirit,There in his compositions is my redemption, will have utmost veneration for him &would always address him as Sir John Denver Regards :)

  • @raveya98 love your words..

  • I have never heard this song and I am a big fan. I thank you so much for letting me see this. My family is BIG on saving the wild horses that are left. BLM is rounding them up left and right and killing them by doing so or maiming them. The outcome if they survive the roundup is slaughter for human consumption overseas. Disgusting.

  • Are chorus teacher had us listen to this song. It is difficult to understand.

  • Comment removed

  • @preppygal190 It would not be so difficult if you had seen an eagle soaring or watched ponies run free over the plains. Think of the moment you have felt the freest in your life. Then try to imagine feeling that free EVERY moment of your life. When you can imagine that, then you will understand the song. I hope your spirit will soar like that of the eagle and the horse.

  • @bettyb22111896 Cool!

  • Wow I love this song.

  • I so miss him.

  • Just listening to this makes me want to run free.

  • His songs and words take you somewhere else don't they? Unique. RIP JD

  • this song is just perfect!!!

  • intoxicating!

  • its so beautiful- a can see clearly all these places in nature when Denver describes them- hes such a great poet/singwriter,musician. It's so sad he and many others havejoined the wild and free spirits described in the song

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I always had the same, he made me want to go to the rocky mountains;-) Even dreaming of living there ;-)

  • amazing images

  • great singer....

  • i still tear and get choked up when i see and hear him

  • @oz22verizon Me, too.

  • "My spirit will never be broken nor caught, for the soul is a free-flying thing!" I fell in love with this song after he died; it's so relevant. When we see eagles and horses, he's flying again with them, in a race with the wind.

  • Great song, great man - these Wildlife Concert shows were John at his best!

  • This song brings so much beauty in my mind. John Denver. I will always love you for the music you brought the world. ^_^

  • Awesome piece! Haven't heard this one before. I also loved the background accompaniment, especially the piano. What a loss . ..

  • Muy Bien!

  • Another awesome song by JD

  • The song makes me so sad an i dont know why

    RIP John

  • Never heard this song before. Truly beautiful! Thanks for posting.

  • Who is the red haired lady singing backup for JD? She's awesome. Evidently, all the band was digging this gigs

  • Pat Hawk. JD had only the best backup with this performance. (Renee Armand use to be his female backup in the 70's- she was my personal fave- but anyway Pat Hawk did a great job here.)

  • I love this song: the singing, the lyrics, the music .. the piano, flute and percussion are all exceptional.

  • John Denver will always be one of my favorite singers. I didn't fully appreciate his music though until after he died. I wish I could have met him & gotten his autograph. That used to be one of my dreams-to meet him in person. RIP John.

  • R.I.P. John

  • Really awesome!!!

  • What does CEO mean?

  • CEO means chief executive officer, usually the person in charge of a company or enterprise

  • This great man was on J. Carson years ago when I was a young boy. I will never forget he reaching back and grabbing his guitar and a mike came down over his head and he started to perform. It was incredible !

Great video and song you have put on here my friend.

  • just moved new area

hi anyone want to chat Ci

  • You know, John said that if he could come back it would be as an eagle...

  • Horses are creatures that worship the earth

They gallop on feet of ivory

Constrained by the wonder of dying and birth

The horses still run, they are free

My body is merely the shell of my soul

but the flesh must be given it's due

Like a pony that carries it's rider back home

Like an old friend whose been tried and been true

  • I had a vision of eagles and horses High on a ridge in a race with the wind Going higher and higher, faster and faster On eagles and horses, I'm flying again Eagles inhabit the heavenly heights They know neither limit nor bound They're the guardian angels of darkness and light They see all and hear every sound My spirit will never be broken nor caught For the soul is a free flying thing Like an eagle that needs neither comfort nor thought to rise up on glorious wings
  • "My spirit will never be broken nor caught

For the soul is a free flying thing"

Thank you for your spirit still here teaching us John.

  • He died on his daughters birthday, I cant believe he would want to do that to her. I dont believe he would end his life that way.

I got to see him in concert a couple years before and loved it! to bad he had to leave us so young!

  • WHAT hb2npb???? Are you trying to say JD died on his daughter's birthday??? I'm sorry but JD did NOT die on either of his daughters' birthdays or Zak's either for that matter!! JD died on 10/12/97, Anna K's birthday is on Dec. 19th and Jesse B.'s is in the spring of '89, and Zak's is in May of '74 I believe. NONE of the kid's birthdays were on the day of the crash. I don't know WHERE you would have thought or seen that. Just to set it straight!!!

  • MEOW! Take those claws back in! SORRRY

  • lol

  • I don,t believe in that either.

  • I only recently heard about the suicide ending. It doesn't make sense. You don't go out and buy a new plane just to crash it!

No alcohol or drugs were found in his system at his autopsy.

It was a experimental plane, he wasn't that familiar with it. It was a pilot error, simple as that.

I refuse to believe suicide either.

  • SusannTx, pardon my language, but F the suicide theroy. John would never had done that. As an aviation buff, sometimes one makes mistakes when one gets in an aircraft. (ie: reading fuel levels. It happens).

Johnny D was too responsible to leave us alone. He would never had knocked himself off. Too many scully and molder types on u tube I reckon. I'm with you sister.

  • Talent seems to emanate through his body, reverberating through this world to this very day, or in simpler terms he is an absolute musical genius whose talnet is matched by few!

  • My aunt thinks he was fake. But when you hear his voice and see how he loved being in the mountains, you can't deny it. He had something uncanny with nature. And not for a minute do I believe what they said about how he ended.

  • he had great talent;

I wish he were here now.

  • My uncle plays the piano in that video :]

  • "Awesome Pianist"...know you are proud!!!

  • Love it....

  • this has always been my faverite song. probably cuz first song i ever remember hearing.

  • That is one of many songs in which he shows the people his great love to the nature.

  • John Denver was an amazing singer... I remember; I was born in Montana and I always made my mom play this song in the car whereever we went... I suddenly remembered it today and played it, and I felt, for the first time in years, homesick from being away from the country (I'm in Alaska now)... his songs really do bring out the soul... I really wish I could have met him.

  • I always liked John Denver. His music is serene.

  • His songs were wonderful poems that rival even robert frost. think of how much better the world would be if we lived by all his words. A treasure gone but not lost.

  • John Denver's songs remind me a lot of Robert Frost's poetry. I wonder if Robert Frost would have been one of his fans.

  • I saw John at this concert and it was the best concert I have ever been to. Miss him still. That voice, that soul.

  • He was one in amillion and the world suffered a terrible loss and a very good freind. Let us remember how he lived, NOT how he died!!! JD's legacy will remain forever. His sanctuary and the Land Conservency in Colorado truly show how much love people have for him...I've been fortunate enough to have been to both recently...his presence is SO obvious at both places......

  • instruments of different culture so nice!!!!

  • This song is zo beautiful, I like this so much!. John was the best singer ever.!

  • I luv this. Sail o' heavean JD. Crying.

  • After Elvis, RCA's biggest ever star.

    Easy to see why.

  • Darioso, better than Elvis. =Stefan=

  • I sing in a heavy metal band John Denver has the most clear voice in recorded music. Stonehaven Sunset is my fave, although High calypso is a fave also. Only the good die young is an old saying from Ireland, Well Denver, Jim Morrison,Kurt Cobain,Phil Lynott,Rory Gallagher,Elvis,Richie Valens, buddy holley and so on...........

  • For those of you who love John Denver's music as much as I. I urge you to go to Dragonluch posts and watch this great song put to the Movie (Spirit Horse of the Cimmaron) you will be awed in how Dragonlunch put together this great song to the film. It will amaze you all.

  • thank you for the information about Dragonluch. It's great having all these videos online to see. John was definitely a gift from God.

  • Yes! he was. I am glad to see your response to my comments about this most beautiful of songs. It was amazing how Dragon lunch was able to put the movie of( Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron) to this great song. Once again thank you for responding to my comments. JDs music touches us all-for we all miss him so.

  • this song has had a tremendous influence on my life. I recently changed my cyber name to "freespirit", and this song is most of the inspiration for that.

disregard the "bethsgirl", I'm definitely freespirit now.

and John Denver was taken from us much, much too soon. I wonder what kinds of songs he'd be writing now.

probably songs worshiping Mother Earth. he was clearly one of Her children.

his music should be taught in schools.

  • Free spirit-I could'nt agree w/you more. His music should be taught in schools throughout the world. He is to me the greatest environmental & naturalist performer of all time. He talked about mother earth and written songs about her. He was always involved in environmental issues way before any performer of his day. He made it cool to be a tree hugger and was never ashamed or apologitic for it. JD will be miss! I miss him so. Go to Dragonlunch and see this song put to Spirit the Movie!

  • I am forever thankful to the Spaniards for bringing the horse to America. Millions of Americans, native and immigrants have ridden and adored them. And what a beautiful song to honor this most elegant and noble animal. Thank you JD for this wonderful reminder of this great animal who has help man throughout the centuries.

  • so beautiful song!! <3

  • wildlife concert i own the two disc set =D ...along with every other album

  • John Denver Alway's a Star!!!!

His Music is living in the people

    There Love him so much!!!!

    Chigitta

    He is my Hero....

  • when I see the video in the background and then hear this song..it gives me a chill everytime!!! JD's spirit is everywhere and with us all...he's in the wind, sunshine, rain, stars, singing skies and dancing waters, the laughter of children and growing old..and IS dancing across the mountains on the moon....

  • this song has so much truth to it. not just emotional, but more so spiritual, and it lifts the spirit ,goddess bless the spirit of john we will always, love the gift of powerful music thankyou

  • Only the good die young:(

  • Koey, than I guess I'll live forever. =Stefan=

  • who was the designer of the plane? had it been used anywhere else? i mean if others have had accidents in them it lies in the design faults.

i mean i respect u feel guilty but if other ones have crashed then no way can it be ur fault.

  • brotherdevil, I can no longer make any more comments on this subject.

  • Brotherdevil, I,m an old time Mechanic. If a ship I take care of goes down, it is my fault. There is no other decision. Even if it was a design flaw, I should have caught that. I didn't. Maybe I'm getting old. Oh, your query, it was a Burt Rutan design. =Stefan=

  • Thank you so much for this song. I heard it for the first time at the San Diego county fair, and I think this is the best I've ever heard.

  • chengloki what do u mean, not been funny, but i dont understand y u feel u cud of stopped him flying we all have a destiny to follow. it was just his time, god gave us him for the beautiful music that calms us and makes us feel better and then he went on. i love john denvers stuff it helped me through the roughest patches of life and brought me out again.

  • Brother, sometimes destiny is depended on others. I failed! =Stefan=

  • Brother, I am a guy who always trusts his gut. That morning, my gut told me that ship should not fly! The parameters were right, and the preflight was right. But I didn't feel right. I had a U206W readdy to go, but he flew that damned plane. I refuse to work on Burt Rutan's ships anymore. =Stefan=

  • All I can say, "This song is MAGNIFICENT". Sorry for shouting. =Stefan=

  • God took John from all of us much too early...but let us continue to live with and cherish the music he left us.

  • God took John from all of us much too early...but let us continue to live with and cherish the music he left us.

  • I will cherish John's music till I take my last breath. But, it was not God who took him from us. It was a poorly designed aircraft. We call that ship "Burt Rutan's Abortion". In plane words, (No pun intended) It was a lousy design. It should never have left the ground! Unfortunately, It was an X-craft. FAA could not stop it from "flying". I could not stop John from flying that damned ship. =Stefan=

  • Are we to understand that you were with him that day? If so how totally horrible it must have been. Can't image...it was bad enough hearing about it from a long distance.

  • Betty, I shook his hand before he took off. I should have decked him, instead. Hindsight is 20-20. But, I had a bad fealling about that ship. Hell of a way to be proven right. It is a lousy design. I now live in Hawai'i. We have a ship of that model flying here. I refuse to work on it. I failed John. I will not fail anyone else. Peoples' lives depend on what I do! And I really love working on airplanes. Take care, Betty. ==Stefan=

  • ( hoping your post isn't some sad spoof ) JD needed to push himself, imo, to 'qualify' himself in the eyes of his father..........rather sad when you think he qualified himself to millions around the globe. No fault on anyone who was around him at that time.

  • Windsong, yes, this is a spoof. But the spoof is on me! I should NOT have let him fly that plane. The numbers were right. Never trust numbers. Trust your gut, always. Spoof? How I must laugh, today!! (When I don't feel guilt). Spoof? Right now I am not working. I can't get a job in aviation. My reputation precedes me. And it is the fault of that damned ship!! Burt Rutan!! I"m a DAMNED good tech! =Stefan=
