The part close at the end makes me feel so sad because it feels like your hearing your mother hymn you the last lulluby you will ever hear, then the next day she's gone, making your whole feel so empty like you're alone in the universe with only a memory of her.

I was very angry when I purchased this soundtrack only to find that there are several missing cues that Williams wrote - for example, the music that accompanies the scene where David asks Monica if she'll ever die (played motsly on piano, it's a theme that occurs often throughout the film's first 45 minutes or so). To me, it was the most beautiful of the themes.

He should have ended the film when David was underwater pleading to the blue fairy icon to make him real - and then cut to this song. While it might have belied the intentions of Kubrick it certainly wouldn't have undercut Kubrick's goal to make powerful movies.

I might get death threats for this, but I think A.I. is probably Steven Speilberg's "Last great movie". I hated a lot of other things he's did after this. I kinda liked "The Terminal" and "Munich" (though that was 4 hrs long). but I hated Indiana Jones 4, Minority Report, and War Of The Worlds. This is such a beauty and moving story loved every minute of it. Call me crazy but haley joel osment has more talent than Shia LaBouf.

Bueno, se sabe que el mismo Kubrick NO quería dirigirla ya que sentía que no era para él el tipo de tratamiento que buscaba para dicho material, por eso por muchos años insistió a su amigo Spielberg que la hiciera, pues quería verla hecha realidad. Spielberg replicaba que el proyecto era de él(Kubrick) y por lo tanto él era el director perfecto; pero su fallecimiento lo cambió todo. Saludos!

I agree it is sublime -- it makes me weep-- but how can I put this gently...like most film scorers, Williams uses themes from classical & other sources to build on. In this case opera diva Barbara Bonney is singing a vocalize of Der Rosenkavalier Suite by Richard Strauss; you know him from Kubrick's '2001' Thus Spake Zarathustra. Understand, I'm not trashing Williams; far from it; he's great -- I believe film scorers keep great all time music alive by using it when they score new films.

I dont hear ANY thematic material from the Strauss Piece what-- so- ever in this score. I think people are all TOO quick to take credit away for someone elses brillance.

Well, most composers from films, video games, ect. Have producers that want the piece to sound a certain way. And if it was something else, it might not go with the situation in the film. So don't blame John, blame the producer/director. (Unless he directs himself, he is the conductor after all.)
