  • k...im no longer using youtube to learn propert form for excercises! ive just watched 3 different videos on reverse crunches and i saw 3 different exercises

  • This looks really good and simple, I can never remember half the moves I look at, but if there's only a couple, I bet I can do them, looks like it would really give your lower abs a workout.

  • Many people don't know how to use their abs instead of their hip flexors to perform the reverse crunch properly. Her technique is actually pretty good. It is physically impossible to "isolate" the lower abdominals, but this exercise will safely emphasize them. An important aspect here is the proper pelvic tilt, which is why cupping one's hands underneath the tailbone is a good idea. Leg momentum to begin the thrust is OK, but the descent should be slowed as one gains the strength.

  • There are better techniques than this. This one appears to rely more on the momentum of your legs than in isolating the lower abdominals.

  • yeah...kicking the legs is not proper technique at all. and the legs need to go back a bit more

  • I've tried to do this, and my back was making cracking sounds, and now it hurts terribly :S I'm such a wreck :'(

  • yea, i dont think you should use your legs, just use lower abs to get your butt off the ground.. and remember you dont have to put your hands behind your head or under butt.. arms can be flat on the ground beside you and u still get a great workout

  • Aren't you using the momentum of kicking your lower legs up to do your reverse crunch? Not good.

  • Yep, but this one is the closest to the correct technique I think, just keep your arms at the sides though.

  • Good exercise to complement the others she as posted. Push ups are great as well since it tests your entire body similar to the plank.

  • Thanks a lot, I felt I was doing traditional crunches wrong...like, only my top 2 abs felt firmer...

    So I'm gonna try doing these more because they seem more fun, and I felt more all over from it. Thanks! 5 stars

  • 1) lay on your back and grab a fixed object above your head. Keep your head on the floor.

    2) Put your feet close to your body with your knees bent.

  • FINALLY! its posting!

    3) bring your knees slowly over your chest, letting your hips rotate upward and toward your ribs.

    4) this is far more effective

  • There is a better way to do this exercise, yet for some reason I keep tripping the spam filter. I'll have to post it in segments to figure out why.

  • Not a very good crunch. Your using your hips more than anything and swinging your back legs upward. Crunches are all about controlled movements using the abs, which could mean even the slightest movement of the body but maintained tension of the ab muscles.
