In a recession it is common sense to go on deficit spending for a short while. Of course it won't have been a short while, since Bush and co. have been ruining Clinton's surpluses with deficit spending for eight years.
Prognost, That would be a good idea, if the things taxpayer money is being spent on were wise investments. But hundreds of billions of dollars went to banks, who are holding onto the money or spending it on other banks. And now the auto companies are likely to receive a bailout. That might be okay if they were profitable companies - but then again, if they were profitable, they probably wouldn't need bailouts.

If India doesn't. then why not? Why does America have this right and no one else? Why does Iran not have such a right, for example? Economy takes a long time to boom or recess, so why bother trying to 'jump start' it? Just let it work, and eventually we'll back to a boom in no time. This problem isn't going away overnight, as much as Obama thinks he can do so. Besides, much of his 'recovery' plan is just dumb.
