  • best movie of all time

  • Get busy living or get Kraken.

  • Fuck you

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH.

  • if you like stephen king(everyone does) you must read The dark tower series starting w/ The Last Gunslinger!!

  • Comment removed

  • We must get busy living. We really do.

  • Get busy living

  • what are yellow pages?

  • a warm place with no memory

  • Best movie line and piece of advice I've ever heard.

  • no negative comments on this video? where are the mean people at

  • such a beautiful message in this film.

  • MOAR! WHY ISN'T THE END OF THE SCENE ON THIS!!!!!!

  • this movie is not just about redemption, it teaches us a way of living, a way to freedom.

  • Are you busy living or busy dying...? Support change in America today.

  • @MelMediaServices we've done it in Tunisia n we're waiting our brother's in arm to do it in america

  • this is art at its finest!

  • his is a good movie

its fucked up how family guy had to do a fucking parody...

even though the part where lois dad fingers that poster when he through that chest piece at it was pretty funny lol..

    still disrespectful

    this is a great movie

  • The top comment about comparing schools to prisons is totally BS..They're not the same..Do you even know what a Prison is?...I dislike your comment.

  • @KINGMJ1990 You realise that the film can be a beautiful metaphor for breaking free of what you think holds you back.

  • @Jackhertz92 Exactly.

  • i need to move where I can live without a car.

  • Andy reminds me of me . no i haven't been to prison ever... but I have felt very much"imprisoned" by my circumstances. 30 years old, educated, no car , and no way to get a decen job where i live to take care of myself well, there just isn't any public transportation to speak of in kc. i depend on people to get me around and can only take jobs they are willing to transport me to.

  • -"Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying."

  • I can't understand people's opinion concerning school and likening it to prison. Beyond the compulsory years till you are sixteen school is a choice. you choose whether or not to continue school or quit. You can't decide whether or nor you stay in prison or not. In school you are working towards a measurable goal. In prison you are putting in time. And I am not aware of any "coed" prisons. But, to each his or her own.

  • At 2:35 it should say "these are just sh*tty pipe dreams". Andy ends up crawling through a sh*tty pipe to his dreams!

  • @neonoir77 Why are you censoring 'shitty'?

  • @EncycIopedia I thought youtube might delete it if I didn't bleep it out myself!

  • @EncycIopedia Some sites (like imdb) replace all swearing in posts with *BEEP* and I'm pretty sure YouTube bleeps out all/most of the swearing in its videos...

  • @neonoir77 Nope.

  • @EncycIopedia Nope? Nope what? Yeah I was obviously wrong about the swearing :).

FUCKSHITBASTARDDICKTITFUCKSHITFUCKPISS. See? No bleeping. You were right, I was wrong. And now I look like I've got Tourette's.

  • @neonoir77 I'm not the only one? FUCKFUCKCOCKFUCKITYFUCKERSHITPISSCUNTDICKqQQ!!!!11!!11

  • Justin Beiber needs to get busy dying.

    Just had to say it.

  • To me, school is like my Shawshank prison. In school, I'm an important man, an educated man. Outside, I'm nothin'.

These school walls are funny. First you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them.

  • @zargotelc5 John Taylor Gatto

  • @zargotelc5 It's funny and kind of scary how true that is.

I actually thought about this Shawshank scene after highschool ended... I bet I'll be thinking the same thing once University's done :).

  • i been in uni most of my life...i am an institutional man now!

  • @zargotelc5 Very powerful statement.

  • @zargotelc5 that's exactly how I feel.

  • @zargotelc5 Do you keep yourself busy living or busy dying?

  • 2:55

    Best line in movie history.

  • @AlienBeliever897 Damn Right!!

  • The Fact is that this Shitstem we are ALL locked into has all of us Institutionalized. We need a NEW Paradigm for LIFE.

  • Thumbs if the twist really surprised you.

  • One of the greatest movies of all time.. borrowing a line from Dylan.. don't lose your dreams

  • i could watch this movie once a week for the rest of my life

  • @mrwtsfhc I plan to

  • @mrwtsfhc I could watch this movie 30 times a day for the rest of my life.

  • @mrMASTERMOLEY but isnt this movie like 3 hours long?

  • @midknight968 exactly!!!!

  • @mrMASTERMOLEY ...you would bend time itself to fit the extra time in to watch this movie 30 times a day you my friend are a trooper

  • @mrwtsfhc I could watch this movie once a DAY for the rest of my life!! I will never get tired of it. I have seen many good movies in my life. This is my all time FAVORITE!!

  • @mrwtsfhc ...only once?

  • a masterpiece.

  • 7 people are institutionalized.

  • That piano music is so hauntingly beautiful.

  • Something about prison brings out the unvarnished truth... the starkness of prison perhaps illuminates truth to men. And they often learn more in prison than they did anywhere else. e.g.. .See Malcolm X...

  • looks like 646 people got busy living while 7 people got busy dying

  • I LOVE this movie and this scene so much meaning to it and so many life lessons....ps I disliked it just so more people could contradict what they have to say about living life by ranting on and on about some stupid dislike feature to a great lesson in life, I mean come on focus on what's important with this clip!

  • I find it funny how everyone in the comments say "It's such a great movie" with "a he'll of a lot of insight on about human nature". Sure, the movies good. Good acting, music, cinematography. But what everyone in the comments are praising the movie for is the story, and not one of them know that the story was written by Stephen King. Praise him, not the movie.

  • @Montops

yeah-but he didn't write the script-and the story does not have the same dialog. A lot of the people who like the movie might not even like the story if they read it.

its like the Universal Monster movies of the 30's, which were so different from the books they were based or the James Bond films. The sarcasm of Bond is not even present in the books. The funny thing is, Steven King books are usually better than his movies. This is a rare example where the movie improves upon his story

  • @trapadoored

    you are right my friend

  • @trapadoored Actually alot of the dialog was straight from the book. Esp some of the great scenes and the wonderful monologue at the end.

  • @Montops

Alot is owed to Stephen King of Shawshank but Stephen King owes alot to this movie because they perfected his story.

  • One of the best movies in movie history. That people can create something so profound and true always makes me happy. It has a hell of a lot of insight about human nature, is perfectly written, acted and directed.

  • I have 3 years more to go before I escape my Shawshank.

  • great..

  • getting this tattoed on my back when I turn 18. Favorite quote of all-time

  • "like a twinkie, like a twinkie"..

  • Search for "Yippie ki yay motherfucker" that is what I call a great quote

  • The fact that this movie did not score an Academy really upsets me.

  • @Thuglife1000 it wasn't very big at all when it first came out. It has grown slowly but theres never really been a time for it to win anything. But it is definitely considered one of the best movies ever now.

  • @sean19922k7 True say. I guess topics like these are more popular now than they were before.

  • @sean19922k7 it's #1 on imdb's top 250 best movies of all time

  • @saderguy very nice so it's THE best.. not just one of the best as I said..

It's been my favorite movie since the first time I seen it. It's not a movie you would think "thats amazing" by watching a trailer for it.

  • @17maynorway Says someone who like Don Omar music *rolls eyes*

  • @PhantasyFight for your information stalker, I don't like Don Omar, I like "Danza Kuduro" because of the ending of a great movie, Fast Five.

  • My GCSE Mentor made me watch this film to show me what determination to succeed can achieve. Didn't take the message in at the time but I do love the film =]

  • What a beautiful and powerful scene. Get busy living, or get busy dying. Thats damn right.

  • get busy living get busy dying' fuck it jusy make the most of it while you alive ... we all be alright at the end

  • sewatanyeo..

Say...what? love how humour can be there too. beautiful scene.

  • my bum is very moist

  • @MrNathanDaniell dude what the fuck

  • the pacific holds no memories... that is the truth.

  • this movie got 1 star... 1 out of 000.01

  • Thumbs up if you loved the description on this video.

  • So sad this movie was so underestimated in the box office and the Oscars. It deserved it more than others ...

  • @drisdrisdrisdris

Definitely. Sometimes great movie are overlooked. This is one of my top 5.

  • @bandsaw000o0 the others 4?

  • @drisdrisdrisdris this movie won 16 oscars

  • only because james cameron released titanic the same time this one got released , he can thank his lobbyist for it

  • Just remember, it's a Stephen King story! ;-)

  • 3 people died in prison

  • No movie has moved me more than this film. This is a very powerful scene.

  • @reviewjungle lmao

  • This movie is in my TOP 10

  • One of my favorite line

  • I love the fact that this movie has made the impact it has out of the box office. The only issue I have with this video is the fact that you left out the most beautiful part of the scene, if you cut 10 seconds later you can see Andy step literally out of the shadow of the prison into the sunlight. All in all a great scene! thanks for posting

  • the stupid warrden made two accounts to dislike this .. he was going to make as many accounts as there where people in the prison but when the public found out they called the cops and as they came to arrest him and kill him he shot himself so dont make accouunts just to dislike videos or youll end up like the warrden :D

  • the stupid warren made two accounts to dislike this .. he was going to make as many accounts as there where people in the prison but when the public found out they called the cops and as they came to arrest him and kill him he shot himself so dont make accouunts just to dislike videos or youll end up like the warren :D

  • 2 people got busy dying

  • @RebelDJ08 its actually 4.

  • @Hollyweed1 Funnily enough, I wrote that comment 3 months ago, Smart arse.

  • @RebelDJ08 wish they were only two...

  • that music...that music

  • This movie should have won best picture, and every other category it was nominated in. Sure, Forrest Gump was a great movie, but Shawshank redemption did over power Forrest Gump in a lot of aspects.

  • One of the best movies ever about enduring friendship!

  • brilliant

  • i love this film have the quote on my arm

  • Impeccable film.

  • I see 1 person here who thought this was a gay prison movie. Sorry your fantasies couldn't come true, buddy, but don't thumbs down the scene just because it lacks a shower scene!

  • one of my favorites.

  • Some people are missing the point of the movie,Its about the prisoners life in Jail and how they get so accustomed inside that they can't live outside even if they want to,Its about how they live their life in the inside regretting what they did but know they would like to have one more chance to rectify it but they can't and have to live in the inside, they have no option,The acting is pure class...The prison break is not the point of this movie.

  • Brooks was here.

    So was red.

  • some prisons dont need to have walls or guards how do you escape

  • Back when films were simple. You don't need explosions and cliched plots, you just need life lessons, and acting. That's all you need.

  • @TheRooster94 ... you do know this is was made in 1994 right... where movies like Predator, Commando, Rambo, etc etc were made a decade before. This is just a great narrative that still happens today, although not to this caliber

  • 1 person isn't getting busy living.

  • @TheWALOS lol

  • Tim Robbins is such an underrated actor it really amazes me... and this film brings forth so many different feelings from inside me..

  • First time watching this movie wow i cried, laughed and felt excited all at once!

  • Classic scene... Damn right!

  • i will watch this movie til the day i die its that good

  • hey look, it's Cleveland and Peter

  • "Lawyer fucked me."

  • just one of the many timeless scenes of this movie

  • seen it atleast 30 times but it is always interesting

  • the best lines spoken in the history of motion pictures !! how can anyone not like it??

  • I escaped my Shawshank in 1994 the year I watched this movie for the first time. Took me almost 8 years to escape. We'll help you escape too!

  • @successmentor

what course are you selling mate?? NLP??!!

  • @successmentor what was your shawshank?

  • @successmentor What happened, I'm curious because i'm in my own prison, i just hope i get to the pacific too.

  • @successmentor pleas tell me how

  • @successmentor where do you get your weed man?

  • @successmentor

I escaped a prison called youth, 6 years after reading "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" and I had Mr. Dufresne's message of hope in my head to keep me company.

Continue helping people escape their prison, like Andy Dufresne.

May the net profit be with you ;)

  • @successmentor thank-you , i feel the same way , my plan is set and i will implement soon !

  • what we all have to tell ourselves is that that dream..that boat, that ocean, that girl or guy of our dreams, that house, that ideal job.....everything that we long for..that that isn't to much to ask for.

  • excelente cena! comovente! arranca suspiros e lágrimas!

  • this regularly gets panned for being to simplistic with no depth but i dont care, its my favourite film & another film mentioned here Forrest Gump does nothing for me when many others think it's a masterpiece...opinions opinions...!

  • I want Morgan Freeman to read me a bedtime story! :]

  • my favourite scene of the movie. Damn how good this movie really is? Made Frank Darabont my favourite director and stephen king my favourite writer. Watch Green Mile, Stand by me, The Mist(a different horror).

  • American cinema at its finest.

  • RELAX & SLEEP -4 Relaxing music + ocean sounds piano slow

Type that in the youtube search and then play this video at the same time while andy says " Buy some worthless old boat, fix it up new." hahahaha its like tropical music, it matches and its hilarious!! haha!

  • words to live by. I used this as a quote for a code of ethics essay I had to write

  • This movie means much more to me , because i have lived through some of this. :) Which is why having HOPE is important ! Never give up ! This is one of the best movies ever , with a wonderful score !

  • Dreams do come true.....And dont forget that.....Ya Hear Me?

  • If it wasn't for Forrest Gump this would've won Best Picture.

  • @brh044 It should have won anyway. Gump is a great movie, but this is superior in many ways.

  • @brh044 As much as I like Forrest Gump, this movie trumps it.

  • what a beautiful piece of artwork...

  • This is my favorite movie of all time for every reason that you suggested. I have held on to that quote for many years and it is so true and inspirational. It really makes you look in the mirror and ask yourself what you want to do. Get Busy Livin...or Get Busy Dyin.

  • "Get busy living, or get busy dying"..

Such a powerful sentence and it's can be used as an example of everyday life..

  • had this movie not been released in 1994 with Forrest gump in the same category this movie WOULD have WON BEST PICURE HANDS DOWN!

  • If you watch this movie backwards its about a man who escapes a storm into a prison to hang out with morgan freeman

  • @thevoid1231 this made me laugh out loud for a good three minutes, i need that laugh haha thanks.

  • Will this is me!!

  • damme good movie!!!

  • good movie I immediately looked

    vshmone.com/films/1349/The-Shawshank-Redemption.html

  • this is actually one of the greatest movies ever; i admit that i cried at the end of this movie...

  • @Berbatov9d

your not the only one that cried haha, me too, hard not too, just an absolute beauty movie!

  • "Get busy living or get busy dying." I thought that was a Morgan Freeman motto.

  • Sometimes, when i am watching the tv or i am doing this kind of unmeaning thing, i am thinking about my past purpouses, and i am very sad...I"ve gave up, my hopes, my dreams, i didnt fight enaugh, and now i am a sad, lonely person. I am always trying to do like Andy, never give up, i am able to the changing, and reach my goals.
