  • you can only understand it from the ear chris is one badass painter

  • I think, there is no painting there.

  • Satanism! Selling your soul for this god level of artistic skill..your going to hell! (JK /Jealous) beautiful picture :*)

  • The only difference I can tell between the two is the nose. You gave her a bit of a nose job (it's smaller in the painting) :) Aside from very minor differences in the hair, it's nearly identical.

The only other criticism I would give is to continue painting the arm down, even though it's not showing in the photo - since you extended the background, it got cut off.

Other than that it's perfect - you're clearly better than I am! Awesome job!

  • @siciliano29 The ear is changed, there's less contrast on the painting, some places are less detailed (chest)... But overall it's really good.

  • You can tell the difference by the whisps of hair.

  • i dropped my pencil....

  • is this for real? maybe im just seeing 2 same photos. lol

  • I guess its good that most people have said 'Which one is the painting?' x)

  • left is the painting

  • C'est vrais ce truc ?????????????

  • one is photo and other is better quality photo, it's a commercial to show new camera :D

  • @BIOSHOCKFOXX I'm not sure if this comment reflects your actual beliefs about this video, but if it does, the on the left is a painting, and the one on the right is the reference photo. Just look at some of his other videos, they're absolutely amazing.

  • @Maestroshnitzel o_o

I thought the one on the right was the painting.. o___o

He is so good, wish he could be my tutor. T_T

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

  • if im not mistaken the left one is painting right is the person. If you look real closely you can see some differences. Good job cgsbgs!

  • uncanny resemblance....excellent! I have dabbled in drawing peoples faces, and some turn out good, some don't. I did an ok Johnny Cash sketch, but then I did a sketch of some random guy in the newspaper and it ended up looking like a cross between Jack Nicholson and Humphrey Bogart. I guess I just need practice...anyway, I have a question - does the wacom tablet sense pressure? And if you want to select a smaller brush size, do you have to do it manually or is there a shortcut?

  • y can do more ,, man !!!

  • Uh I can't tell which one is the painting. He's so incredibly amazing that it feels shameful to use such measly words.

  • The left one makes her look prettier xD

  • took me a while to find out which one was the painting.!

  • @antijelly they are both u dork

  • @KelanX look at the ears and the nose

    theres a difference -__-

  • Both the picture and the painting are like 2 frames of the same person in a sec delay.

  • i like the left one better :)

  • look at their ears u can tell the left one is painting and the right one is real

  • Do it better then, you idiot.

  • I have no idea how you even manage to get each strand of hair looking exactly the same.

  • Wait... which one is the photo?

  • hmm good point. i have no idea

  • the right one.

  • amazing

  • there are moles missing on the breast bone I'd say the one on the left is the painting

  • yep tha thats the one

  • hmm,fake?

  • Woah, the one on the left is the real on, right? I cant really tell o_o

  • the colors are a weensy bit different, as for the shade. But they both look exactly the same otherwise. It's awesome, I could never ever do anything as amazing as that.

  • ur ablsoutly amzing the paiting is better than the orginal

  • its hard to tell wich one is the painting

  • it`s better than original :D

  • The painting looks WAY better than the original.

  • The necks are different and the ear on the left is a bit smaller.

  • I bet u couldn't do better, vesper, so shut up, learn something and stop envying.

  • It's called giving a helpful advice. You'll never progress as an artist without learning what you can improve on. so i suggest you shut up and learn something.

  • You know you are pure awesomeness when you hold that up to someone and say, "Which isn't a photograph?" And they can't tell.

  • oh my god it looks similar, but the shirt, the right one is bolder than the left one, i think that's the only mistake.

    gosh, you're like a camera

  • The left cheek is off but other than that... wow!!

  • who cares? He just...made a portrait, he is like a human camera

  • i think the left one was teh painting

  • yep ur right

  • hmm i thought it was the right one thats the painting--look at the little dot on her top, it kinda looks a bit sketchy

  • D: god damn, it looks like the left one is the real one!! great job on this! If I didn't watch the first one, I would have never of known.

  • which one is the painting!?

  • the right one. But I agree that the painting is better! hahaha

  • you fail, the left one is the painting.

  • I think I just didn't pick the right word. The user "purplezeke" asked which one is the painting - I said "the right one" then repeated that the "painting" was better. I meant that the "original picture" was the right one and that the digital paiting by Chris is better, on the left. Sorry for the confusion, not a native english speaker.

  • ops.. correcting myself, the right one is the original pic, the left one is the painting by Chris Scalf.

  • The girl looks so much prettier in the painting, haha!

  • it looks awsome even doh i can se some small details that cus i paused the video and i can se like 20 difforent things but still it awsome those small flows dont matter

  • I think the painting is the one on the left. She looks younger in that one. : )

  • thats not even possible....lol great work!

  • very nice .... amazing.....you are the best ...

  • @ktorboby this painting was done by another person

  • Its not perfect, but I dont think it could ever be. If youre this good, who cares!

  • for me, the original face is not as perfect as the one you paint. the slight furrow of the brow, the tiniest amount of sagging at the jawline, they somehow make the photograph more compelling to look at. from a technical point of view though, i would say your painting is perfect.

  • yea i agree, also the mouth on the orginal pic is more puffer than the one that is painted, but then again maybe that was the point of the drawing, to make it realistic and accurate without putting the distorted facial details. Either way the painting is very accurate.

  • I think on here the painted one looks skinner sort of.. but her fore head also looks the same size as the chubbier one.. its good and .. im not gonna say perfect.. I don't think many if any can do better.. but perfect would mean.. drawing the same exact face on a different paper.. He'd have to be autistic or something.

  • jajajaja ahorraste 10 cirugias y le bajaste unos 3 años

  • fae is a tiny bit squished towards the center of the face, eyes a little set back, clavicle not really visible, and browlines a little high. other then those trivial details, flawless.

  • fucking WOW. i think the one of the left is the painting though.

  • wait....which one is the original again?

    My friend...you are spectacular!

  • If you look at the edges of the hair on the painting (left) you can see the genius of this artist...it is perfect where as in the photo it is all messy, the artist here must make up the hair and he does it perfectly!!!! not to mention the rest of it is truly incredible

  • so amazing dude i've now watched every last one of your videos...lol your painting looks BETTER than the original but so close to it it just looks like someone touched up the original

  • is urs the one on the... left? i think thats it

  • i cannot tell which one is which

    this is super photorealism

i hav never seen anythin like it

u hav a gift frm god man

  • uhm lol....uh seriously, you're gonna laugh (or perhaps feel very proud over yourself)now, but i seriously can't tell which one is the original...Maybe you should write that in the video description.

  • That was actually part of the point I was making to a couple of people who were picking on my painting. Most notably thte user named "Darkmen113" on the original vid that I posted this as a response to. (click above on "Digital Freehand Painting a Portrait...") It's like 4 pages back, as of this posting.

  • Yes! there it is!!!! a freakin huge black chasm in the middle of her face hahahaha...
