I think Germans are a smart people. My male German relatives are all I would guess in the 130-140 range. I'm not that happy with my particular bloodline though. I've noticed a lot of my family are cowards. It almost seems genetic. Stuck with your stuck with I guess...

the IQ of ITALY is 102, and this is not the IQ of northern italy but the a blended average. IQ was tested in central italy in fact. IN northern italy is 105/107 and in the southern part 95/98. This is due to different educational standards.

You should wonder why instead, Italy, a country with one of the lowest level of instruction in Europe, top the league.

@panter82 Please show me the sources for that statement. I don't think that's correct, cause i know, average IQ of southern Italy is about 89. (Due to Volkmar Weiss.) Furthermore, Pisa statistics show Italy in the line of other Southern European countries in the IQ 93 - 98 range, but not above that.

For example people in the Congo actually score lower in image based IQ tests than the mountain gorrillas in their own country... now how likely is that to be an accurate reflection of reality?

They have measured it for the last 10 years and there are multiple surveys on the European IQ.

Dutch and German IQ is leading, Albanian,Turkey and Greek IQ is off the chart (in a negative way) because of African genes.

It is true that the Germans are very disciplined and hardworking though. This is a characteristic of the Northern Europeans in general, but it is something different than intelligence.

@panarkas Since Germans also get out of bed earlier, the time of day it was undertaken... the culture of those taking it, the income level of subjects, their education v's gender (since some populations value females less)... its literally riddled with variables that will bias a test of this nature... the standard deviation could be 15% in something like this. Which invalidates the result...

Now if they carried it out on twins raised in different cultures we might find the true figures.

@panarkas And in the same year another survey presented the Netherlands as the top IQ... but the fact is the Caucasian people of Europe are so similar genetically that the innate intelligence can't vary this much. Unless we accept that education alters brain function itself...causing higher intelligence.... Its not unlikely this would occur... but doesn't say very much for nations who allow some groups withing their borders to score poorly in IQ tests.
