Insurance is the killer in the uk, I have an 18 year old friend who passed his test first time and has never crashed, his car is an old mini he brought for £870 (about $1360) yet his insurance premiums were £3000 ($4687), until he lost his job, now his premiums are £5000 ($7812). Still think its cheap, then because we drive shorter distances, the engine is less economic. It's expensive wherever you are because it's a luxury - you don't have to walk everywhere or use public transport.

Well in the UK its about £1.30-£1.40 per liter for normal gas in the UK which is more when converted to gallons, but then again we also have a lot more economical vehicles so it probably is comparable.

Corperations should be able to charge whatever they want for their products, regardless of what the the consumers "believe" the price should be. They could charge $100 for a blue ray and I would have no problem with that. It would be a stupid business decision but they are well within their rights to do so. And no matter what the price of their product, they shouldn't have to worry about it being stolen (pirated).

Corperations should be able to charge whatever they want for their products, regardless of what the the consumers "believe" the price should be. They could charge $100 for a blue ray and I would have no problem with that. It would be a stupid business decision but they are well within their rights to do so. And no matter what the price of their product, they shouldn't have to worry about it being stolen (pirated).

@xKapownd Taylor, love all your videos and generallly agree with most things you say. (yay for more zombies) But the comment "piracy isnt stealing" is just meaningless. Obviously, they are not refering to the fact that they you are going to "steal" or as you put it, take the original copy, but is is in essence "stealing" or reducing revenues. Furthermore, making further copies devalues all other copies - simple supply and demand.

@rallaghan So to your analogy that everone can can enjoy their pigs, maybe the person is a farmer, and then the pig is their commodity, which they sell. copying their pig makes it reduce in value and reduce potential sales. Finally, the biggest issue is, you have no right to it. regardless, it's their intellectual property, they can restrict access if they want. I know your not pro piracy, but that comment as a response to Penguin's comment, to me, meant nothing.

@xKapownd Wikipedia defines stealing as: The illegal taking of another person's property without that person's permission OR consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.
OR is the important part, just because you are not depriving someone of something, it is still stealing. You are taking something that cost money to make and not paying, the people who invested cash in their movie/game/whatever intended to make money off of their product and you are taking it without consent.

Whatever you say on the matter, the law considers piracy theft and if you make copies of movies you haven't payed for, you are still goin' to jail if caught.

The Corporations you speak of have to follow what the consumer wants, if they don't then they won't have the funds to produce more, so charging $100 for a Blu-ray would be massive suicide. They charge what they think we can afford, if they know we can't afford it, or don't feel like paying that price, they drop the price to appease our want of that item they are selling..In other words, we have full control over pricing...

@TheAres405 u should choose your words more carefully. your mixing up "have to" with "should". they can do whatever they want. it just wouldnt be good for business if they charged too high for their product (which i already stated), but they are within their rights to do so.. and they dont charge what they think we can afford, they charge what they think we will spend...

If you were on an island had 2 pieces of gum, ate one, and decided to sell the other with no thought of chewing it yourself, and every other person on the island had 25 cents, what would you do? Taylor, while I do admit to downloading music, piracy is not just a copy 'you have yours, I have mine', thing. In terms of music and movies, the developers, artists and producers aren't making money off of their product as much as they could because of piracy.
