This song reminds me of hangin with my broham Chris Johnson. We used to listen to this song and dance around in front yard while his stupid grandmother watched daytime soaps. We were high as shit on acid and we were 11 years old. Those were the days. Nowadays this guy just gets drunk by himself in a room and texts people pictures of him playing guitar. It's pathetic. He lives in Oklahoma City and works for Hobby Lobby... Thanks.
i remember throwing down to this in 1978 at a joint in Bermuda called Disco 40. It WAS a good time ... after closing the place down we'd all head down to Horseshoe Bay on our motor bikes and burn one ... does not get any better than that.
I cannot get enough of this video . . . makes me think of my father and uncles. I can only hope they had these types of chill moments dancin' the night away and thinkin' they were lookin' fly!
Music back then was so soothing, the songs would just lift yours spirits and free your mind. The music today is the opposite, it takes me nowhere, it is simply unpleasant noise.
"Listen up all you party people"...every time I hear this song,I see Thomas Hearns dancing around the ring just before he knocks out my hero,Jose "Pipino"Cuevas in 1980 to take the WBA Title!Black son of a bitch!(Love you Tommy!)
It reached a million...I knew it would....AWSOME...This song is the shit...They are all smiling and having a great time....There not trying to look tough like all the THUG LOSERS today...Get a life you punks...lmfao
jaco pastorius, paul jackson? I'll have to check them out. Thanks man. I've been absolutely smitten with the bass on the "Off the Wall" album for years but it wasn't until MJ died that I went super super deep into all things MJ. I've since been obsessed with Rod Temperton, which led me to this video. Louis Johnson's playing is just disgusting! The way his bass and drums intertwine and play off of each other on "Rock With You" is beyond delicious.
one time by mistake i was at a party (i live in a bad part of town so this is why it was suprized)...someone put in the wrong mix cd and all these rap songs were on it then like the 6th track was "stomp" i guess it out by mistake or he put it on purpose but man people starting dancing everyone was gettin down!!! and were talking like 18 -25 years old lol
you guys are saying this is great music unlike the crap today. But I bet in 1980 the old people who listened to 50's Mr.Sandman music were like this is crap stupid teens
Speaking only for myself I can tell u I grew up in the 70's and early 80's and I always liked the music from the 50's and 60's even when I was in High School. I liked every era until about 10 years ago and I don't blame the artists, I blame the record companies who have made everything sound the same and destroyed creativity for the most part to sell records. That said there are some artists today I like, The Black eyed peas, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, John legend, Ashanti and a few others.
Hey brotha... I know one guy who dance this song every morning, his name is Diego Hipólito and live in Caracas, Venezuela. The best disco dancer in south america.
LOVE THIS SONG!!! :D <3 it's seriously my favorite song and i saw them in concert! :D i'm just 14 and other ppl my age r missing out on good music like this
Hey, I didn't leave that last comment. that was my little sister using my name, but she saw them at the LA County Fair. They were opening for the Gap Band.
Just look at these guys smiling and having a great time...Now days they have to look tough and like thug LOSERS...Whatever happen to people and music like this???Man i miss it!!!
Agreed!! Just look how they all happy rockin n bouncin when startin the Refrain 2nd time, from 1:47 to 2:13 especially the guy hittin the Tambourine(?) at 2:06 really gets me haha! :)
Wish i could time travel to some of the tight Pardys goin on back then!!....
I know what you mean.....you really feel it. This was done at a time of hope and today things seem so bleak. Thank God we can go back by listening to the smooth sounds of old school! I am definitely a new old head, lol.
I was 13 when Boogie Nights was released and 17 when Stomp was released - what a fantastic time to grow up and have the privilege to listen to such fantastic music!
I agree. I was in college when Stomp came out. Wow! I wish I could go back in the time machine for a week and enjoy it all over again. Thanks for the list below. What great songs all of them.
