It's possible to hold Anvil Gate without using last resort. I've done it before. Just have a low difficulty (i.e. casual and normal) and kill a shitload of Locust during the siege.

i didnt get any of the collectables in act 1 ,does it matter if i go back to act 1 after i beat the game,or do you have to get them all in 1 playthrough

These walkthroughs are better than IGN's, they just put themselves randomly in the campaign near the collectibles!!

@RompYa no, it saves once you pick them up. you can grab it and then go back to the main menu and it will have counted.

This is one of the best guides for collectables I've seen for Gears of War 3. The others I've seen on YouTube either have bad capture footage or their commentary just doesn't help.
