When the movie was on tv, there was a part where Katie and Stephanie had to go against each other at a practice for the coach to decide who made the team. I don't see that part on here.
1. Why are there like 20 girls sitting on the gym floor hoping to make the gold team, but only 4 parents watching?
2. I dont know anything about gymnastics, but I usually see them with short pixie hair cuts, but these girls all have huge long pony tails, can someone please the hair thing? Does short hair somehow help?
@carsleyladiessociety well in my experience with gymnastics long hair is really distracting and gets in the way a lot in some routines, i have really long hair and it also hurts when i land wrong so i guess most gymnasts keep their hair really short to keep out of their way

my mum was always the centered, well adjusted, NORMAL mum & she was surrounded by nutcases.
One mum pulled her sons out of gymnastics so her daughter could train- the poor girl spent everyday crying, doing strength work & getting in trouble whilst her mum watched on with death stares.
I also heard her mum put in a rope at home for her to climb.. ughh disgusting.
Another girl would just cry all the time because she would get screamed at by her dad every night. I think he was a drunk..

stupid parents... pain is part of it all. If you have to take pain meds to help you do what you love and achieve what you can, thats what you do. (I'm a dancer... I had to compete when I was vomiting and with a pulled hamstring)

I am totally serious.I'm an elite gymnast and I know and I've talk with other elite gymnasts. I CAN assure that gymnastics isn't like this anymore. It was and I was there when coaches hit gymnasts and some of them took pills. But it doesn't happen anymore. Not here, not in USA, not even in Romania (coaches hit gymnasts sometimes but they don't take banned pills). The pressure and the requirements are still too high,though.
And the countries whithout money nor good gymnast it's a different case.
No. Any gymnast can't take banned pills, they can't! There's a antidopping test... In China is another case because most of gymnast are there to earn some money for their families and they bear almost anything. But I'm sure that in USA is not like that... It can't be. It's so hard, I know, but coaches don't hit gymnasts.
he is also a gymnastics coach on an episode of Law & Order, in which he has the same demeanor with the girls (oh and it was taped at my daughter's old gym :)

if you watch some competitions in France, the light will only be on the apparatus sections, and the rest of the arena is dark

he is also a gymnastics coach on an episode of Law & Order, in which he has the same demeanor with the girls (oh and it was taped at my daughter's old gym :)
