  • Pottery becomes life; I'm convinced.

  • Love this masterpiece, even if I prefer the more progressive ones...

  • Yes, the best!!!!!!!

  • Great musical moment!

  • Great song, I prefer more prog yes' songs though...!

  • I meet Ion once here in Buenos Aires many years ago, after a show; he´s a wonderful person, And also meet his daugther Déborah, a beautiful brunette.

  • Very interesting song that enales us to calmer paths...

  • Saichan baina!

  • This is the best version ever! Wonderful!

  • de king van de snaren Steve Howe amazing song kippenvel!!!!!!!!!!

  • Each time I listen to this, I can't help but focus on Steve Howe's elegic guitar playing, which is not only perfectly done technically. There's so much emphasis and a deep feeling, that it keeps me walking over to my guitar everytime and practicing a bit. It's pure inspiration. Would like to know, which equipment Steve's using here along with his Gibson, which effects and amps. Anyone?

  • This is surely one of the most beautiful rock songs of all time.A truly amazing piece of musicianship from in my opinion the best Yes album-Going For The One. Utterly brilliant!

  • turn of the century,maavillosa grandiosa,gracias yes

  • I never thought that Steve would be able to reproduce the guitar part of the album version so completely and accurately as he does here. It's for sure one of the most difficult guitar sequences, and Steve does it brilliantly!

  • A wonderful song - but it just doesn't have the punch of the album version at that moment of release.

  • Steve Howe - One of our (UK) greatest guitar players - next to Roland Orzabal (Tears for Fears) and Brian May (Queen). Steve even featured/guested on Queens Innuendo album. Plus he still plays with his other band Asia.

Apart from the guitar playing, John Anderson can still hold a tune at "half a century plus some"....... Keep up the fab work!

  • para mi la mejor cancion de yes,una obra maestra, cuando la oi en concierto me hizo llorar

  • kocham ten utwor :) gitary Howe'a , glos Anderson'a :) kocham :) beautiful song :)

  • LA MEJOR BALADA DE YES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i bought the album this came off, Going For The One, age eleven in 1977. This live version is so close to the studio recording. The guitar is almost perfect. Love it, still

  • The best ballad Yes has ever created.

  • Wow, still one of the most beautiful voices in rock music!

  • Howe is astonishing, as are the rest.

  • This is from the Keys to Ascension DVD

  • Beautiful music.

I believe God gave them a voice.

  • wonderful performance, human feelings

  • beautiful..oh yes it is!

  • ...Help me share my Yes experiences, because:I had the tremendous, great fortune to spend some time with RW after a show in Bloomington,Ind. in the 80's(now I have to go research exactly when!)I will say here:He was as nice and down to earth as anybody I have ever met in life!In fact I often say to myself:If RW can be that nice, this person I currently am dealing with had better not think of themselves as any kind of star at all-and I mean regular everyday people! One of the most cherished times...

  • Beauty is in the eye or ear of the beholder;I will say for the 3rd time about 'Turn':In my opinion, absolutely one of the most exquisite, gorgeous pieces of art in any medium that will ever be created by any human or group of humans in GOD'S Wondrous universe! When I saw the GFTO tour at MSG,NYC in '77,we were terrifically excited about the return of Rick Wakeman to the line up!WHAT A SHOW!And-THEY GOT BETTER THE NEXT 2 TOURS!!My tech skills low-YT the most user friendly site for info exchange 4 me

  • Wow, fantastic! One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite groups! What show is this from? Available commercially on DVD perchance???

  • By the way, Jon Anderson sounds absolutely fucking brilliant for a guy in his 60's!

  • My favorite Yes song. Why do I keep hearing that it's not good? What the fuck?

  • In my opinion, this song is Yes's best kept secret. When I listen to it, I get goosebumps. It's truly beautiful. Too bad it didn't get the exposure that it deserved back in the day or even now. What's up people? I know that anyone that hears it has to feel the emotion. Who's with me?

  • I'm with you baby!!...All the way..

  • Yes, I have just dug out my album and played it, and it does the same for me, they had a magical quality. Best concert ever when they had a central stage at Wembley.

  • ?Did your eyes ... at the Turn of the Century ... tell me Plainly???

  • My dad (rest in peace daddy) told me they are simply THE GREATEST show he's EVER seen. Better than Pink Floyd who he truely loves. But sesing them have so many instrumetns such as 11 different guitars, each tuned for different guitars. He said every show (Except the last as they became commerical) was truely better and better.

I love Yes thanks to my dad. This is proof why I too have become a YES fan.

  • ..simply beautiful!!

    SUN :)

  • Yes ,and the members are very highly evolved human beings that are way ahead of their time, and I know that they are as well familiar with the fact that they are initiates as well of the ancient wisdom.

  • to moja piękna wspaniała miłość YES ...kocham te klimaty ...

  • anyone notice how they changed key at 5:22 ?

i guess cause jon couldn't hit the notes in the original during the "when we're young, love lingers" part.

  • yup they go into a major key to evoke the positive tuen the story takes one of the best songs ever by anybody the album version with the church organ at Vevey is best . .

  • Perhaps the most beutiful song ever written

  • deliro con sus melodias artistas gente artistas

  • Steve is the main reason i started playing guitar in 1975. He is one of the most unique voices that came out of Prog rock in the 20th century. His modal playing and compositions are so inspiring. And Jons words are so etheric. I am a true die hard yes fan. The magic, beauty and wonder that their music poses is quite simply unequaled. We touched, we danced, we both knew the story.

  • I KISSED YOUR FINGERS !!!

  • and I FELT it!!!!!!

  • That's so, so sweet

    I'm so glad

'For Heights and Depths no words can reach ... Music is the Soul's own speech'

  • I love these slightly different live arrangements of YES songs. Its like hearing Steve perform a YES song from a parallel universe.

  • One of my favorites!

  • Going for the One~and getting it

  • YES! this is a true maser piece...

  • a musical masterpiece....ty 4 the post!! Jt~

  • Sie sind genial!!! I love them since 20 years....

  • Probably their finest -A MASTERPIECE!

  • GFTO might Rick's finest Yes work. Sadly he always drives me batty with his loose interpretations of his own stuff live. I keep waiting for brilliant little moments and he kinda "wings it".

  • I think maybe this one is my favorite

  • you know, they told me yes is realy good! I didn't believe them. Now I do!!

  • if u like this u should check out opeth (if u can handle black metal bits) they take a progressive approach and most of the music is very melodic. also try dream theatre and mastodon

  • This is one of the most beautiful musical compositions ever written....

  • What a great band and a great piece of music. This wil still be great 100 years from now, not like all the crap thats being made today.

  • 78rohan says it best

  • A Masterpiece.....A Symphonic Movement....

Rohan's search for his love....Jon's search for melody...

    Pure Jon

    Pure Zen

    Pure Yes

  • What makes me sadi is that these were true Yes, back in '90something, and we'll never hear or see them this way any longer... Rick there on keyboards and Jon there wonderfully singing.

Yes have come to an end, let's face it.

  • listen i might be an idiot BUT someone needs to make a movie out of this song

  • Hi all.

I was listenint to a great YES song yesterday on the radio but cannot find it.

All i remember from the lyrics is the famous speech by W.Churchill "we shall fight on the seas and oceans..."

    Help anyone?

  • The Gates of Delirium" is a dense, 22-minute piece that was inspired by Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. From the Relayer album maybe..

  • You might be thinking about "Fool's Overture" by Supertramp.

  • Yes, that was the correct answer, some other guy on youtube told me some days ago.

    thank you.

    (great song !)

  • Aye, Fool's Overture, those are Supertramp, not Yes. -:)

  • Steve Howe hes work on this is awesome, what a great track!

  • To me, the best progressive rock band of all time.

  • Fun to see them live! Wonder which year it is? I guess it could be around late 80s or early 90s. Thanks for posting!

    Yes:I love you!!!You're AMAZING!!!

    Jack, from Brazil

  • All that I can say is: "Goddamn right!"

  • la banda mas maravillosa de la historia

  • Concordo!A melhor sempre e sempre!Aquela que escreveu as músicas que não canso de ouvir!

    I love Yes...today and...always!!!

    Jack, do Brasil

  • the applause at the end... is not quite enough to honor this great song :)

  • All I can say ChordCluster is Wow. Sounds like a stellar evening. Hope I can experience something like this also. I truly love and appreciate Jon and Chris and Steve.

  • From a long past time when musicians had true talent...Superb is all I can say ( age 45+ helps here too!!)

  • Beyond awesome.

Thanks Jon, Chris, Steve, Rick for all the years.

  • Sublime,obra maestra,gracias por estos 35 años de musica...,venid a España,por favor.

  • Some things just do get better with age, they just do. fantastic.

  • wonderful !

  • rick wakemen is slowly becoming my new favorite member of yes

  • One of my favourite Yes songs - but when and where was this recorded?

  • recored in montreax,switzerland 1977,peace

  • The studio recording perhaps, but this live performance was recorded in 1996 in San Luis Obispo for Keys to Ascension

  • I think Steve Howe may have had a bit more hair back in '77 LOL!

  • Steve Howe......

  • steve howe is a pretty good guitarist,

  • Dude can play.

  • what? speak english?

  • aprendi a gostar dessa música com vc... é muito linda, a letra, a melodia! ah, como eu te amo, seu tolo!

  • I've never heard Steve step out on TOTC like he did this night...

And Rick *did* slip a note. One out of millions...his batting average is still f*ing miraculous!

  • Jedna z najpiękniejszych pieśni,jakie słyszałem!

  • if you cant appreciate go listen to s=omething else

  • you are joking, this is pure talent

  • música e vídeo ao fundo do palco que tocam muito em meu coração.

  • sounded like Wakeman in a rare moment slightly miscued a note ...

other than that, simply fantastic...how they play soooo smoothly live, just reeks of sheer talent

  • This just may be the best movement ever written.

I mean this is fuckin Mozart material!!

  • Well it is awesome and very beautiful.

But I wouldn't go that far dude!

  • thanks for reeling me in "dude"

  • un bonheur absolu::!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree, one of the best Yessongs, or best songs in general ever written. Yes are just so far and above any other band. Tremendous!

  • Top of their game that night. Wow . . . t h a n k y o u memoryrunner, for posting this. Soul cleansing words and music.

  • Isto é uma obra prima!

  • Steve howe leaves me speechless.

  • Not just a beautiful song but probably the most beautiful song ever written. And le'ts think about it. From a rock group tthat has No 1). The best vocalist, No.2). The best bassist No.3). The best guitarist (Steve Howe) No.4). The best drummer (both Alan White and Bill Bruford) and of course No.5). The legendary Rick Wakeman.

  • creo q esto es de Keys To Asseencion dvd , gracias por subirlo!

    thanks for upload it!

  • Thge best love song ever written!

  • lol im meeting john anderson at my school

  • Yes at the top of their game. Wonderful melody, masterfully performed. Now the group has two youngsters in it, but they are keeping Yes music alive. It was so advanced, only a small percent of people "got" it. It will be played in Yes concerts in the 23rd century. It is that good. Masters of our Age.

  • This is a masterpiece. I have no other words to describe my favorite Yes song. When I first heard it I was 13, and the beauty of it shocked me to the point that I became instantly a progressive rock fan: Yes, Genesis, PFM, Pink Floyd and Queen, and slowly bought me all of their records!

  • OBRA MAESTRA de la historia de la musica, como tantas otras de de esta BENDITA banda...¡GRACIAS YES!POR FAVOR venir a ESPAÑA.

  • I can't get over how great a song this is. Every member contributes exactly what this song requires...to make it such a classic. Mesmerizing creativity and execution by Steve Howe on this. Yes' best song.

  • Iam agree!

Steve Howe a very important part of Yes!

  • Great song. Both Jon and Steve are fantastic.

Similar atmosphere like in Jon´s "Sadness of Flowing" with beautiful lyrics by Jon.

  • I have never seen this video and what a wonderful video it is. These guys are pure musical genius!

  • Uma das músicas mais lindas da história do Rock

  • Jeez, just how good are these guys, boy how we could do with fresh talent to take over their mantle, sadly I don't think we will be. These guys really shame modern music/musicians. Lovely stuff, gorgous, ty for posting

  • Agreed

  • Great musicians and a fantastic song. Its easy to forget that this was a live performance. I do believe that is Wakeman on the ivorys.

  • That's the regular Yes lineup...

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Wakeman/White

This has to be one of their best songs--Jon's abandoned his elliptical prose for a straight uplifiting story. Even the video is conservative--nothing psychedelic.

  • In my eyes prophetic

I first heard this so many years ago

It made me think at that time a message was being sent that a great event would happen at the turn of the century

A man standing naked in front of skyscrapers (look similar to the twin towers)

At the turn of the century two great buildings were felled, many were lost and our nation was deeply wounded

Now a new leader arises to say "yes we can"

Rohans clay is transformed into new life

  • Does anyone know who that is on keyboards, is that wakeman? maybe his son?

  • google pygmalion, greek myth

  • Arguably one of their best. Absolutely magical!

  • Beautiful

Thankyou for the share Wally (1nessism)

  • i am very glad that you liked it...

  • apotheosys of progressive rock compostions

  • this song is so lyric so romantic i think if they would have sang it in old english it had had a better reception , yes and genesis for me were absolutelly wonderfull

  • Everyone is so smart here; the comments so precise....back in the day when we brought Yes about we were stupid motorheads....

  • A beautiful song from a brilliant album, "Going for the one" still sounds fantastic even today, a real highlight in life. Thank you Yes.

  • When Howe plays the 12 string it brings more melancholy depth to the ending...he is a great guitarist!

  • The key change at 5:09 is a strong contender for the greatest moment ever in a Yes song.

  • Very good call jhillst! Magical!

  • Yes.

  • my very favorite yessong...

  • Great song..performed to complete perfection. Anderson and especially Howe were incredible. Glad I caught this.

  • thank you mr white for your lyrics... this is great with yes in its primo lineup...

  • This is truly one of the most beautifully unique songs in all progressive rock music.

It follows none of the cliches or formulas typical of the genre. YES once again took their style to another pure innovative level

  • What else could be spected from this masters of music.

  • maestros

  • Jon looks like Jar El no offense still love him haha

  • I have tried this but no one can touch Steve on this. Annie Haslam can show how so much more pure a voice can be. Sorry Jon. Still love you. No song can touch this. I agree that if this song can't touch your heart what can. Of Course there is Iona.

  • Okay, I'm intrigued....

Annie has a magnificently pure voice, no arguement there...but I am missing something...what I'm not getting is how does she play into TOTC? Has she covered it...or are you saying that if Annie and Steve did this one together it would take the whole song into another dimension...or...???

  • Yes, Annie and Steve did a wonderful version of "Turn of the Century" on a cd named "Tales From Yesterday", a Yes tribute cd. It is really just the lyrical part of the song minus the great instrumental interaction in the middle of the Yes version (I do love the Yes version studio and live). Give a listen if you get a chance, and let me know if you like it. Maybe in the near future you will find a Jack and Brenda version here on You Tube. We are trying... :-)

  • Wonderful arrangement; great story line, Dick I'd have to give it a 99

  • This song is the most beautifull song of the past century. Agree?

  • easily on of my favorite songs of all-time

  • agree - the song has an almost hypnotic effect- keeps reminding me of deep emotion from the past.

  • Of all Yes songs, this is probably my favorite. Some of the most beautiful guitar playing Steve Howe ever did.

  • a modern masterpiece! my favorite yessong! thank you!

  • This songs brings some sort of positive cosmic energy to my soul and spirit. Thanks Yes, I'm lucky I met you.

  • might have the best lyrics/story of all Yes songs.

talk about shivers down the spine...

  • Excellent

  • if this doesnt touch you what can?

  • Very nice.

  • So pro

  • love this song... it's make me feel in space... near to antares

  • Steve Howe =prog guitar

  • Steve Howe is a GENIUS!!

  • Is this from a live dvd????

  • Great!!!

  • This is my favourite Yes song ever. I remember the first time I played Parallel Lines and heard this awesome track back in about 1978. I have seen them live twice since but I have never heard them play this song live. This is pure musical craftmanship at it's best!

  • Oops...i meant Going for the One, not Parallel Lines!

  • Timeless beauty to that song ... brings the emotion out every time I hear it ...

  • it's the the most inchanted dreaming composition for voice and classic guitar I've heard from Yes.
