LOL the technique that is taught today is nothing like the technique of the wooden racquet era ! For instance the 1 handed back hand was a slice or flat stroke with no low to high swing :) so you can use the weight to its advantage. Todays technique 1 handed back hand is nothing like that :) So it is wrong to thick a heavy racquet of any material is good for kids to learn technique. Because todays technique requires more strength.
I am 38 years old from Los Angeles and played Pete several times when he was on a boys team while he played at the LA tennis center. He had a horrible 1 handed backhand because he was new to it and because he wasn't strong enough. So please do not tell young boys or girls that heavy racquet is ok to use because its all technique. That little boy/girl will destroy their arm !
then how did pete sampras play with a wood racquet as a kid? for sure he has great technique. or Andre Agassi as a child. let the racquet do the work. Do you agree?

@Bladerunner55217 yeah I played pete sampras and roger federer at the same time. but still back before the open era, everyone was taught to use a heavy wood racquet and onehanders. its fine
This is why you must have a racquet that is not to heavy !! Or get strong enought o handle that players racquet you love so much . I play doubles and my 1 handed backhand was not improving. i realized my racquet was to heavy . So i found a lighter racquet and I allways had the right form but it was completley correct everytime because the racquet was light enough for me to swing the way the coach on this video is talking about!!! Nice video Thanks..

@Bladerunner55217 Wrong, today's technique of a 1 handed backhand is exactly the same as it always was .
only difference is that in past era they used the continental grip more and we use a western today or as some call it eastern backhand .

good technique doesn't mean anything if the raquet is to heavy for you to use good technique. Thats just common sense.

@Bladerunner55217 Good technique, wont matter on the weight of the racquet.
