  • a lot of talking.. she clearly says it right...

  • It takes quite a long time to work through the whole video but it's worth doing. Considering the amount of health instructions relating to alcohol consumption, control of smoking areas, and general culture of Health and Safety regulations you have to ask why the effects of RF aren't being highlighted.

  • If you want to see what the radiofrequency exposures are from smart (wireless) utility meters, see the new report by Sage Associates (google sage reports)

This report has many tables that identify how high the RF levels may be, particularly if you have one mounted on the wall of a home (near a bedroom, for example or your kitchen). Tables show where FCC violations may occur (at what distance and under what conditions) and then compare the RF levels to health studies.

  • Test Your Brain Tumor Risk from Cell Phone Use

    1) How many years have you regularly used a cell phone (of any kind)? Regular use is defined in the INTERPHONE study as one call per week for at least six months.

    a. 1-2 years ________

    b. 3-5 years ________

    c. 5-9 years ________

    d. 10 years or more ________

    2) Do you use the cell phone mostly on one side of your head?

    a) I use it on both sides about equally ________

    b) I use it on one side mostly ________

  • 3) How many cumulative, lifetime hours of cell phone use do you have?

    a) Less than 1640 hours in total (est. monthly hours x 12 x # years) ________

    b) More than 1640 hours in total (est. monthly hours x 12 x # years) ________

    4) How old were you when you first started regularly using a cell phone?

    a) A pre-teen or teenager _________

    b) 20 years of age or older _________

  • If you are an adult: and you have used your cell phone 10 years or longer, or you have 1640 hours or more cumulative lifetime hours of use, and you use your cell phone mostly on one side of your head, then your risk for a glioma is about double (a 96% increase in risk). If you use the cell phone about equally on both sides of your head, the increased risk is about 40%.

  • If you are a young person: and started using a cell phone on a regular basis before the age of 20, by the time you are in the 20-29 age group your risk for glioma is five-fold (or a 500+% risk). This risk shows at 5 years or more of use, where in adults it shows up at 10 or more years of use. Children have more apparent risk because their skulls are thinner, they absorb more radiation than adult heads, and the nervous system and brain are still growing

  • How many hours have YOU had?

The INTERPHONE results can serve as a guide for people to approximate their exposures in comparison to the brain tumor risk. For adults, the study shows significantly increased brain tumor risks if you use the phone 10 years or longer, or 1640 hours or more in total. The risks are much higher for younger people, occurring years sooner and at much higher rates than for adults, based on other similar studies from Sweden.

  • TEST YOUR BRAIN TUMOR RISK (CELL PHONE USE)

Take this simple four-question, multiple-choice test*

(If you would like a copy of the test, email sage@silcom.com for the pdf)

  • Ahem: Considering I'm anti-church (I really am) I still don't like seeing 'all the comments' relating to churches - first-time viewers would likely be put-off (I know I would). I've seen this video before, many times, and am here again just so I can verify the link/video is still active so that I can send it to send to others. It's a great video. Good information. Best to err on the side of caution.

  • It is not right for churches to promote special industry interests in ‘the back door’ to our most vulnerable places to live and raise children while hiding behind the industry mantra that “there are no proven health effects” or “we comply with FCC standards”. Legitimate questions remain about health risks.

  • Churches have become the telecom target of choice to place new wireless antenna facilities located in the heart of residential neighborhoods. In most cases, these cell towers would not otherwise get approvals. The invisible burden of constant radiofrequency radiation exposure for homes and schools in close proximity (up to 1000-2000’) can disrupt peace of mind. It can lower property values. Why do churches do this at the expense of friends and neighbors?

  • @CindySage I recently worked on a project to keep a cell tower out of a neighborhood park near a high school. The Recreation and Parks Department stood to gain a huge sum of money if they put it in the park. The major reason why anyone agrees to one of these cell towers is money. The other reason is that the industry unbelievably has been able to successfully argue that there are no significant dangers, but I think this report may be changing that.

  • A conditional use permit (or CUP) is normally granted for churches on the assumption that they have light environmental impacts (traffic, lighting, noise, etc). They have historically been given the presumption in the past that they can be compatible neighbors in residential areas.

Churches are now courted by the telecom industry as willing partners for cell towers and antennas. Churches like the rest of us are facing hard economic times and the money looks good.

  • Its deeply unsettling to think that churches opt to use their privileged status to introduce commercial uses into residential areas that are widely acknowledged to make people sick. Church facilities typically need a conditional use permit from the municipality to build within land use zones that are designated for residential use. Since they are a ‘special use’, they need a special permit.

  • Its time to re-evaluate whether churches, like Trojan horses, should be permitted to ‘stealth’ wireless facilities into residential neighborhoods – and whether they deserve ‘special status’ conveyed by CUP status. These CUPs come up for renewal every so often. Have Church officials who lease out space for wireless telecom installations considered that offended and worried neighbors may show up at their next CUP hearing and say “no more extension of your permit to be here”?

  • Public health warnings were raised in the BioInitiative Report in 2007. It advised against the continuing deployment of sources of EMF and radiofrequency radiation from wireless technologies in advance of health studies, and argued for new biologically-based public safety limits to deal with emerging risks from new technologies. Results of the INTERPHONE study provide strong confirmation of the importance of these warnings.

  • David Carpenter MD MPH, BioInitiative Report co-editor and Director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at University at Albany, Rensselaer, NY says that It should also serve as a warning to governments that the deployment of new wireless technologies may bring risks to the public that are widespread, involuntary and increase long-term health care costs.

  • David Carpenter MD MPH, BioInitiative Report co-editor and Director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at University at Albany, Rensselaer, NY says that While this study is not perfect, the risks documented in it must be taken seriously as a warning to limit cell phone use, to restrict the use of cell phones, especially by children, and to call on manufacturers for redesign of cell phones and PDAs.

  • The INTERPHONE Study confirms previous reports showing what many experts have warned that regular use of a cell phone by adults can significantly increase the risk of glioma by 40% with 1640 hours or more of use (this is about one-half hour per day over ten years). Tumors were more likely to occur on the side of the head most used for calling.

  • CNN is endangering public health with its abysmal coverage of the new INTERPHONE cell phone-brain tumor results. The study found a doubling of risk of glioma where you would expect to find it - with long enough latency, even considering the underestimation of risks due to the study design and limitations. CNN must revise its TV crawler, and its media coverage of this important issue, or face real criticism for this very misleading headline.

  • @sophiah88 Trust me, you don't know what you're dealing with. The Electromagnetic Fields Committee of the Health Council (here in The NL) is independent, does not get paid to manufacture results, and it has unanymously concluded that the BioInitiatve Report is not an objective and balanced reflection of the current state of scientific knowledge and does not provide any grounds for revising the current views as to the risks of exposure to electromagnetic fields. There has yet to be found proof.

  • @Meowbay "There has yet to be found proof." Have you any idea how often that statement was made in defence of asbestos?

  • @Meowbay This report is available on line for FREE at many sites.

  • Thank you for speaking the truth.

    It has become rare nowadays.

  • I find it difficult to comment here, because I was trained in laboratory work that depends on peer review, common standardized metrics, mutually agreed methods, and neutral language. This forum does none of these things, I find no links to peer-reviewed articles addressing the actual subjects of discussion.

If you wish to discuss the overall statistics of use to humans versus total mortality, EVEN using your grabbed-from-the-air statistics, then the cell phone is overwhelmingly a social good.

  • @ormondotvos - I see you forgot to add links to no peer-reviewed articles supporting what you are saying. I HAVE, however, payed close attention to the work of Dr George Carlo - which was extensively peer reviewed. I add a link here so you can educate yourself better. /watch?v=1I1zQ9CDbgE&feature=related

  • @ormondotvos Scare tactics and stupidity? Sure, keep laughng... Have you any idea how many people like you stop laughing when they hear the word 'brain tumour' from their doctor? Maybe you think this oncologist is just a stupid charlatan who weaseled his way to head the industry-led research into wireless and cell phone dangers to simply scaremonger... /watch?v=1I1zQ9CDbgE&feature=related

  • @rarosera I know the so-called research you're speaking of here, and there has been not ONE proven link to brain tumour(s) and HF or LF radiowaves. I've worked very close to high power transmitters for about 30 years now, and I can honestly say there are effects, but not those that are claimed here or in many of the so-called scientific 'reports'. If the effects would be significant, I'd be dead by now. The opposite is the case: I'm 44 y.o. yet my biological age is somewhere in my twenties.

  • @Meowbay The fact that you claim to have worked 'very close to high power transmitters' since the age of around 14 kinda tell me and anyone else who cares to read your comment seriously doubt your claims. You don't state what kind of transmitters, microwave or non. So, do you think that because you might believe there is nothing wrong the universe will arrange itself so that your claims are made reality?

  • @Meowbay Not to mention that just because someone might survive being shot 20 times is no indication that someone cannot die after being shot just once, or that bullets don't and cannot kill. You understand?

  • Scare tactics and stupidity. None of this is honest science, or the metrics would be consistent with the metrics used in the actual experiments, which always say that there is no causative connection between cell phone use and cancer occurrence.

Ever feel these people need to be less fearful and more rational?

  • SmartMeter: The new tool to diagnose faulty ground rods, one house fire at a time"?

New evidence links Smart Meters to house fires, damaged televisions and computers, fried electronic equipment, light bulbs blowing out, and other indicators that the electrical wiring has become overloaded and start a fire.

Tens of thousands of homes around the country may have faulty ground rods. An independent investigation by every State Fire Marshall is needed.

    Until then, no more installations.

  • Great info, thanks. Two things: 1. At about 22min in, this corresponds roughly to what the UNABOMBER wrote in his manifesto: Technology is at odds with humanity. 2. Royal Raymond Rife was major proponent that the content matters (the frequencies and bursts), not necessarily the power level. This is key.

  • @33rdPatriot

This is pure propaganda. The house fires are NOT CAUSED by Smart Meters. As an electrician with a physics degree, I'm appalled at the lies and distortions put forth by the Scaresters of the EON group.

  • @ormondotvos

Is it "pure" propaganda or just propaganda? Can you better define what "pure" means for all of us common folk?

  • Prevention Magazine (December, 2009) has a terrific article on EMF and wireless by Michael Segell, Deputy Editor. This important discussion on the risks to health, sources of the problems, and common-sense solutions should be required reading for all people who want answers. The jury is in, and the verdict is "avoid exposures to wireless and EMF".

  • @CindySage Guess what? Prevention Magazine makes money on its existence by manufacturing such results. Obviously their so-called research is useless banter.

  • Lower SAR cell phones are useful IN COMBINATION with the tips below, but using a low-SAR phone is not sufficient alone. A single, two-hour exposure to cell phone radiation can result in pathological leakage of the blood-brain barrier. The effect occurs immediately, and is still seen at 14 days and at 50 days post-exposure at only 0.012 W/Kg. The lowest exposure SARs were worse than the higher SAR exposures (Nittby et al, 2009). Neuron death occurs at SARs of only 0.012 W/Kg,

  • Plain Talk about Cell Phone Safety:

    What You Can Do

    1) Reduce your use of cell and cordless phones. (2000 hours (cumulative life-time) before you are at statistically-significantly increased risk for glioma.

    2) Don't hold a cell phone or cordless phone at your head.

    3) Use a wired earpiece or headset (hollow tube is preferable).

    4) Use speaker phone mode.

    5) Use corded telephones for regular calls.

    6) Using a low-SAR phone does NOT mean you can talk safely with phone to head.

  • @CindySage

Just heard your interview on coast to coast, great interview. I am currently dealing with tinnitus and constant ear pressure and ringing. My PCP prescribed a nasal inhaler and a decongestant thinking it is related to a sinus infection. I have since told my kids not to use their cell phones unless there is an emergency and only to use the ear piece. Interesting though, my hearing damage is more prevalent in my right ear, and i always use my left to talk. -Oz

  • @CindySage Where is the *scientific* basis for these (false and random) claims about the effects of a mobile phone's radiation? Please show the research.

Because all research that has been done in this area does NOT, I repeat, NOT show a significant influence.

  • Professor Daniel Massa from Malta University has completed his own independant research and has concluded that Malta has 10 times more repeater antennas than the UK! The Maltese are unaware that they are part of a wicked experiment. Massa has faraday caged his house as he knows what the consequences of this kind of exposure is!

  • I am talking about density of antennas per square kilometer!

  • Hi Cindy, I don't know if you remember me but you sent me a great deal of information several years ago and I wanted to tell you that I am still ill to date but I also wanted to thank you for your help. I have been getting help but not to the degree I feel I should be. I still don't have any one that will look at me without thinking I'm mentally ill. I am definatly in the early stages of ALZ'

and still deal with most of the symptoms of a trumatic brain injury.

  • Great information, really...

  • ICNIRPs Standing Committee on Epidemiology has published a paper in the Journal Epidemiology on cell phone-brain tumor risks. It pre-empts the Final Interphone Study. Several of the ICNIRP authors are also Interphone Study Group members, raising the issue of whether the timing of this article is intended to pre-empt Interphone Final Report findings. If so, it will certainly muddy the waters about the message. There is no "all clear" here despite what you may read.

  • Cell and cordless phones both present health risks. The increase risk for children who start using cell phones before they are 20 is more than a five-fold (more than a 500%) increased risk for malignant glioma by the time these children are in the 20-29 age group. See Hardell and Carlberg, 2009, Int J Oncology 35: 5-17. The annual age-adjusted incidence of astrocytoma for the age group >19 years increased significantly by +2.16%, during 2000-2007 in Sweden.

  • Have any studies been carried out to determine the affects of cell towers on eye health, as I haven't been able to find any? I have lived in Swieqi, Malta now for 4 years and within the square mile there must be over 50 masts. Over the past 4 years my ability to focus properly has deteriorated rapidly and I put it down to the towers I am surrounded by. I reckon the tendons in my eye muscles are being hammered! I would value your opinion on this?

  • I need to clarify that Swieqi is next to St Julians . I recently discovered that the official figures for repeaters was 28 but I counted up to 35. When you add to this the neighbouring districts approx a square mile the total would be over 50. If you add to this also, all the domestic and commercial WiFi, cordless phones etc. its no surprise to hear that Prime Minister Gonzi has just announced the building of a new Tumor Wing at Maltas new hospital costing 24 million Euros! A Cancer Cash Cow?

  • If cell phones are as dangerous as some of these posters are saying, there should be an explosion of brain cancer cases to coincide with the explosion of cell phone use.

This is fear mongering to a great degree.

  • Very good point. Given that the latency period for brain tumors can be 20 to 30 years, we won't be seeing the explosion in brain cancer cases. Although we don't know for sure, there were heavy cell phone users Johnny Cochran and Ted Kennedy who have died from brain tumors.

  • it's not fear mongering, trust me I have been very ill from my use of a cellphone for over ten years now. I know beyond doubt that it was my cellphone that made me ill and no one wants to hear us and when I say us there are many people from around the world ill from their use of their cellphone. most of them worled for the dellphone industry.

  • Tip #4: If you care about your young developing children, DO NOT let them have a cell phone to freely use! Research shows that damaging cell phone microwave radiation - which can possibly cause brain tumors in adults - is even more hazardous to the brains of developing children.

  • Tip #3: Greatly minimize the time you use a cell phone anywhere. Treat it as though it cost $10-a-minute to talk to encourage you to save all chit-chat for a home land-line. Don't get rid of that home land-line (POTS) service, or at least have an internet VOIP-based substitute.

  • Tip #2: Three years ago the Russian Government publicly caution citizens riding the underground subway since cell phone transmission power would be at maximum in many areas. And they told women to not wear their cell phone on a necklace-cord near their breasts, and for men to not put their cell phone in their front pocket! They advised turning off underground cell phones to prevent exposure to maximum power handshake-signals. Tip: Dont have your cell on you in rural areas - or turn it off.

  • (continued) What to do?

Tip #1: Your cell phone has a VARIABLE transmission power output. The most dangerous time to use your cell phone is in a rural area where the nearest tower is almost too far away. Your cell phone will automatically scale its output power to maximum in an attempt to reach the distant tower. Inside a city there is no need for maximum power, and so the cell phone automatically scales back to a lower power output (which also helps conserve battery life).

  • (continued) The cell phone is the smallest of these 4 devices, and yet it transmitts (by far) the strongest microwave-band EMF signal. The first time doing this I was startled to see how strong the cell phone EMF radiation was and over a considerable distance from the cell phone! Of course this is necessary for reaching the cell tower which could be a few miles away! What makes this fact worse is that the cell phone is held just 1 small inch from the human brain. Cause for concern? YES!

  • (continued) The router was surprisingly weak considering the signal was useful through the entire house. The cordless telephone was about 4 times stronger. Next in power was the microwave oven, which when cooking on max power was strong enough to convince me to not stand beside it unnecessarily. Fortunately, signal strength degrades rapidly with increasing distance from the device (i.e., inverse square law) so just a few feet away greatly increases safety.

  • These things:

    1. home wireless router

    2. cordless telephone

    3. microwave oven

    4. cell phone

They all transmit electromagnetic radiation in the microwave region (approximately 4.7 GHz). What determines the risk to your health depends upon the signal power when it reaches your body. The transmission power of these 4 devices (above) typically increases dramatically in the order listed. I measured all of these with a field strength metering device.

  • New York: March 16, 2009/

Public health concerns and scientific evidence for risks from cell phones and other wireless devices is published today in the journal Pathophysiology. This special issue of Pathophysiology is about the human bodys sensitivity to EMF signals in the environment, e.g., EMF effects on DNA, effects on the brain from cell phone radiation, and Alzheimers disease, dementia and breast cancer.

  • We are discussing this topic in my program (MPH) and it is obvious that the overwhelming majority of research shows what Cindy has described in this video. This research, coupled with what is happening in Europe in regards to policy change, is more than proof that this is an important public health issue. Those attempting to discredit this issue are misinformed.

  • Cindy, I think you will appreciate this forum. I am the sacrificial lamb in this instance!!! Mike Holt has a website and has published our story in the newletter, entiltled emf and noise pollution. Need help people. post your comments.

  • Great information!..well done..

  • Cindy is the head of a consulting company that sells solutions for shielding against electromagnetic fields. It is her direct interest to depict radiation as dangerous. It is very easy to just refer to scientific reports that report biological effects of radiation and to just neglect all the reports that report failure to see any biological effects.

  • And you must work for the cell industry. God knows that the cell industry has no direct interest in trying to discredit Cindy Sage or the independent research (not funded by the telecomm industry) that shows health risks. Telecomm industry is no different than big tobacco, asbestos, lead, etc. and who knew from the beginning the risks but spent millions on junk science to confuse and to suppress real science from the public for profit.

  • Well said!

  • I read the Bioinitiative Report. Being an Electrical Engineer who studies the effects of electric shock exposure on humans for the past 9 years I can verify that Cindy Sage knows what she is talking about. She is the spokeswoman for the Bioinitiative Committee. The report documents bioeffects, adverse health effects and public health conclusions about impacts of non-ionizing radiation -electromagnetic fields including extremely-low frequency ELF-EMF and radiofrequency/microwave or RF-EMF fields.

  • All this mobile phone radiation next to your ear can NEVER be good for mankind. If she is a scientist or not is not the question. She is being backed up by a lot of them. Of course there are a lot of other causes of cancer, and people in wars are dying as well. Put in context is alright but I think we have enough people on the plantet to be occupied with each of these subject..We are just trying to make the best of life no?? At least that is where Change starts :)

  • If a lot off people are getting sick of it you must look wjat is hapening at those people.

And not like now saying thats there is noting going on.

Look whats cosses the ilnes at those people.

    Why can't the sleep.

It's all over the world the same health problems.

  • @arjunus But those health problems have no proven relationship with either wireless, mobile phone, cordless phone or micorwave ovens being present in their homes. I sleep just fine, better than ever before I might add. I have a 3G HSDPA cellphone near my head, a timer-radio close to my bed, power-converters, a wireless router a few meters away, a DECT phone plus station, a really old microwave oven and live 50 meters from UMTS/GSM provider's power antenna, yet I don't have any trouble sleeping.

  • @Meowbay

    Thats fine for you,

But there are more people then only you.

  • @Meowbay "But those health problems have no proven relationship..." Do you have any idea how many times that same statement was used in defence of asbestos?

  • The problem with this type of discussion is that there is no context. It is clear that radiation of all types can be dangerous. The question should be given context, is EMF from cell phone radiation more likely to cause cancer than standing in the sun, or drinking coffee? I suspect that context is not given by people like this, because it would make most people see it a non-issue. Some things need to be put in context. How many people died in Iraq this year, that's important

  • And how many irakians will die after this war, cosidering uranium bullets/missiles are massively used on the ground radiating the environement (ground, air, vital ressources).

This is another subject. She talk about wirelless diseases around all the world for people trying to live in peace.

  • I respect what you have wrote.

But for the proof if she hase right you must wait.

We think abouth 2 till 3 jears.

Then there is the evedence thats happening in the uman body with microwaves with sizes smaller then the components of the uman body.

  • A few of Cindy Sage's Publications , this lady knows exactly what she is talking about "Epidemiology for Decision-Makers: A Visual Guide to Residential and Occupational EMF Epidemiology Results (1996), EMF Modelling and Land Use Planning: A Methodology for Assessing Land for School Siting or Residential Development (1994), The EMF Dilemma: Decision-Making Amid Uncertainty (1991), and Reduction of Magnetic Fields Through Electrical Switching and Wiring in the Home"

  • The Germans are still in denial about cell phone dangers eventhough there are articles in the newspapers about the dangers of cell phones. My son(13)is the only one out of 26 w/o a cell phone- he had cancer!!! No one wants to hear cell phones are bad!

  • What a well-expressed summary, Cindy. Well done on all the valuable work you and other eminently-qualified scientists have done to identify and highlight risks of EMR. The scientific evidence is becoming clearer all the time. It is evident that the potential of risk is greater than many realise. Until authorities responsible for public health act to safeguard society better, people should take steps to protect themselves if they are to have any chance of avoiding adverse health consequences.

  • An excellent summary of the BioInitiative report - a truly independent and objective evaluation of the science at a time when most 'independent' reports are effectively written by the cell phone industry!
