  • hah, if you haven't already youtubed gonzales/chilly gonzales, get to it & see where he's coming from. might change your opinion, might strengthen it. excellent video regardless!

  • funny thing is that guy actually does look a bit like Rocky Balboa XD

  • I'd like to see Keith Jarrett in a piano battle. Oh SNAP!

  • Gloves...what for?

  • Mr. upright seems to have trouble keeping his ideas coherent. A wilder and somewhat more interesting performance, but I'd judge the round against him.

  • zygel>gonzo

  • Does Zygel's theme sound ODDLY like Liszt - Totentanz?

  • the guy with the gloves looks like the guy from coraline. the not father looks like him

  • Hey hey, i just saw zygel and talked with him last week . I was in the stages of the theatre du chatelet in Paris , that was so fun . He is one of my friend's teacher (at the cnsmdp) , he's cool . I never saw him in improvisation before, he's heck a good ! (I'm french )

  • Quite unfair in my opinion beause the better improvisateur has the better piano.

  • zygels face at 7:05 hahaha he knows hes beat XD

that is zygel aint it? im not to sure lol

  • zygels playing is mostly noise its not much music.

  • ahaha Rocky))

  • 4:29-4:42 Amazing...

  • Gonzales has a fire in his playing that Zygel cannot compete with.

  • whaha Piano improvisation Battle huh? :P

cziffra is king of improvisation :D watch him.

  • At 4:30 what is gonzo playing??

  • eyes of iger c'est enorme!!!!! franchement chapeau bas messieurs!!

  • 5:58 onwards is fantastic in my opinion ^^

  • eye of the tiger. the way he rocks on this instrument ist just great. fast and exact. i wanna be able to play like this too...

  • Yeah totaly^^ but this kind of ability Takes a lot of Talent AND Training... its hard to ever get as far as gonzo is

  • around 2:00 and 2:30 its totentanz(liszt)..

  • what is the music at 3.15??

  • around 8:00 is the chopin prelude in b minor i think

  • This guy, gonzo, made a better performance!

    Very entertaining!

  • but Zygel has more harmonic inventivity

  • yes.. since he's a solfege. prof. as I think

  • gonzalez had better flow i though, and hes playing with gloves on an upright! this is still amazing though.

  • chilly was far more entertaining in this round

  • i think..

    GOnzales lose in this part

  • eyes of the tiger by gonzales was so final fantasy material lol

  • I thinks that is is pretty obv. that zygal is better, however i much prefer gonzales, better style of player funner to listen to, and entertains you, the other guy is to serious both are expert though

  • gonzo is such a showman. eye of the tiger - really cool.

  • Zygel es un careta

    Gonzo le rompe el orto

  • It is like some crazy rachmaninoff stuff in th opening

  • Wow!!! interesting improvisation! Thank you for posting this video!

  • gonzo 4 life!!!!!!

  • haha, i love it so freaken much!!!! i ve been serching an praying for this for years!!! and it's here! ahhhh thankssss for youtube and who uploaded! i have seen this on TV about 1 year ago, and i was amazed, and stunned!!!!! thx

  • Ha! This is awesome! Both are very good!

  • oh how i wished i could improvise like them, and how i wish i could play the eye of the tiger like that guy,who is who anyway? i m not sure...haha

  • Zygel is so much better

  • Both are great!

  • I can't choose who I like better :S!

    Both are good :)

  • One is a true entertainer... the other is an academic...

  • I agree !

  • Que j'aime l'interprétation de Gonsalez avec "Eyes of the tiger". Bravo!!!

  • zigel owned his show on french tv

he simply explains classical music for beginner

he is a very coo teacher

  • i thought gonzales was pretty overtaken. his more chaotic play is a style but the other guy's precision just seemed better and i still feel more for someone who seems to know what he's doing more.

  • Dude, Zygel owned him....the other dude isn't even that good....

  • gonzo über alles ;o]

  • i changed my mind. in the end zygel is much better

  • gonzales has a better imagination. zygel is too academic

  • in the end, isnt imagination music?

  • ahahaha dude. gonzales is probably the better player but zygel captures my heart with his hilarious ideas

  • mybad. opposite :::: gonzales is hilarious! teh pwn

  • I think the guy with gloves owned the suit coat man..although he could improve hes clothing a bit, he lookis lika sum kind of sport athlete about to recover from a marathon.. but he owned the suit-coat-man

  • they call it "irony"

  • Ah! I wasn't sure.... that's why I included the stuff about glasses. He still gets my vote (at least for this video). :)

  • My vote would have gone to Gonzales (the fellow with the glasses; not the fellow with the sweatband & gloves). Much more interesting & nicer touch; the other pianist was a little too heavy on the repeated notes, which don't particularly impress me.

  • you're wrong : the one with glasses is Jean-François Zygel, the one with gloves is Gonzales...

  • (je dis ça comme ça mais, la reprise finale du theme par Zygle est merveilleuse) (pourquoi est-elle coupée, d'ailleurs ?)

  • Amazing, two masters of improvisation. What about the other parts ?
