As much as I prefer Battles new direction, I do think they should return to a four piece. Without a frontman it doesnt have the same energy, they used to make an effort to avoid using pre-recorded samples as much as possible...but now this is heading towards what going to a DJ set is like. Personally, the appeal of Battles was that although it was hugely digital, it was made on the spot and raw. Oh well.
