I am proud to have worked on PMA-265 out of NAS PAX for 4 years. Loved flying the F/A-18 flight simulator. Took off, flew rolled a few times then landed successfully.
Beautifully done, with a nice mix of interior and exterior footage and crowd reaction. Nice to see Fat Albert doing a max TO and the Pitts doing its thing. My wife's cousin's husband, an Academy grad, is an F/A-18 squadron cdr.
They were so fucking slamming, there's no way I would pay to stand next to a runway to watch something like that. RIGHT over my house. EVERY year. For more than a decade; close to two.
Well, maybe to look at the aircraft on the ground, but my house was the best seat in the house, EVERY year, and it was free. I miss that. Welcome to the future.
I suspect they enjoyed it - this valley is perfect for it. Crystal clear and without an atmospheric disturbance. 300 ft. over my house. Seriously.
Best Blue Angels vid on youtube hands down man! Awesome job, but could you also upload it without music. Although I really liked the music, im from the 90's:D, I would also like to hear the commentary from those pilots.
Awesome video! Watched it several times, loud I might add. While I don't gravitate to toward that style of music, I like your choice. It seals the deal. If I sat behind the pilot, they would need a new cockpit or love my decorative style... Monochromatic brown.
why then do all other military jet display teams use g suits and oxyigen masks when putting on a display...its proper safety equpiment imo.afterall would you ride a motorcycle withou wearingt at least a helmet,to say nothing of gloves, boots etc.i dont think you would.i know i would not.

@damo9811 The US Navy Blue Angels are the most professional and skilled pilots on the planet, bar none. The lack of an air mask is no factor, airshows are conducted at low altitudes. Oxygen is required above 12000 feet. As to the lack of G-suits; that is done for safety. G-suits have bladders on the legs and torso that inflate and deflate as G forces change. With flying this precise, a bladder inflating at the wrong time could easily cause a shift in control that, though slight, could be deadly
@KMitch332 if they would use other jets than F/A-18 where their controlstick is not between their legs (like F-16 maybe?) they could use G-suits for sure...
@Truckosaurus15 The Thunderbirds fly F-16's, and also don't use G-suits. Even without the stick being between their lags, the bladder changes could cause small movement of the rudder pedals. In most cases, the movement is slight enough that it wouldn't be a factor, but when you're flying just feet apart the slightest movement could cause disaster.
They used to fly 300 feet over my house every year, but old people or safety rules fucked that up. I remember when they did it in A-4's. 300 feet over my house or less! I was on the roof, back when it was shakes. I used to bring binoculars. Why? They were right above me!
I can't imagine anything better. I miss that. It was only one day a year; well, 1 1/2. Rolling thunder, but still subsonic. Something else hit the sound barrier once; it didn't break OUR windows, but it was impressive.

It's very clear that you worked hard on this and your sense of timing is excellent. I'm not a fan of the music either, but really I think you should leave it alone. Do another vid to a different song if you want to, but don't "music swap". Let your work stand.

@VBH8888 In a sense yes, but not necessarily, these guys are trained for a routine that does'nt befit air combat, althought they do have the advantages in G-force training and flight hours it can be exampled with Air Force induction
A pilot who has gained his license through civilian means for exampled is overlooked as opposed to someone who has no training due to the style of training for civilian pilots
I would love to see these guys in redbull racers however =)
Great video, totally wrong music... In fact, it couldn't be MORE wrong... I'd suggest the classic "Danger Zone" (Nothing says "US Navy" , "Fighters", and "Blue Angels" more than that, IMNSHO), but also cut out the PT and centrifuge parts of the video. Those shots don't say "Flying". Keep the intro to the walk-out, start-up and taxi, and time the 1st chorus to the kick-in of the after-burners at T/O. Then just watch your repeat shots to time it to the song, fade to black as the music fades.
This is such a great video!! I watch it several times a year with friends and family whenever I need a Blue Angels fix . The song goes great even though its not a "flying song" - it's an exciting song with lots of parts that highlight different elements of the their flight & Training. Well done! I used to narrate air shows for the Golden Knights back in the '70s (F-4 Phantom days.) Great vid: I've told ppl it's as if someone took a standard Blues vid and a DJ got hold of it and spun it. I WISH THAT YOU'D GIVE THE SAME TREATMENT TO THE GOLDEN KNIGHT VIDS -- that would be a different and new challenge!!!

I've been a photographer and video guy for 20+ years. All the way back to film and 3/4 in videotape. Your video editing for this is as fine as I have ever seen. You cut visuals together in a fantastic manner. The song, as you know by now, doesn't work. Get something with some power. But be damn proud of the excellent editing you have done here. More important, you have created a tribute to the brave men and women of our armed forces and for that I cannot thank you enough!

If you go see an Air Force Thunderbird show, what you see the first 5 minutes will be the same for the entire show. Left after 5 miniutes, watched while walking to vehicle, watched while at stop lights, watched at house. The same type of formations the whole time with different number of airplanes. Good point - We beat the crowd leaving the airfield and did not miss anything.
Went to Blue Angels show 2 years ago and it was as wonderful as I remember as a child. Went to Air Force Thunderbirds last year, fell asleep while watching. Like watching cars go by on freeway. Straight close formations almost the whole time. Canadian Snow Birds seem to be more of the same. If Air Force is trained to fly and all they can do is fly formations, the U.S. is screwed. Like the Top Gun movie said, we lack close air combat capabilility. Thank goodness for heat seeking missiles.

My 2 little daughters love sitting at the computer bouncing to the music and watching their blue angles. Don't cave for someone's tastes...you choose the music for a reason right?

@tuvix72 Yes!!! I just listened to "Faster" by Within Temptation while watching...it fit the video absolutely perfectly. The song ends about a full minute before the video does though, but if you repeat the last minute of the song, it still matches up rather well to the last minute of the video. Try it.
F/A-18A Super Hornets. At negative 3 G rolls, the polished, Blue Angel pilots are the only jet pilots in the military that don’t wear gravity suits yet still fly the tightest formations in the world.

I just love air shows so much. I also had such a good time getting the tour over at the Reading Airport Airplane museum. Holy Cow it was so cool. They have engines from planes on display. The museum store is cool too. Go when no one else is there. Like on a Monday or a Friday or anytime there is no show. For 6 Bucks you will get a personl tour. I asked a ton of questions. It was awsome.

@tuvix72 Don't let some random people on the internet squash your creativity. I think the video is brilliant and mixes great with the music. My 2 little daughters love sitting at the computer bouncing to the music and watching their blue angles. Don't cave for someone's tastes...you choose the music for a reason right?

@tuvix72 Yes!!! I just listened to "Faster" by Within Temptation while watching...it fit the video absolutely perfectly. The song ends about a full minute before the video does though, but if you repeat the last minute of the song, it still matches up rather well to the last minute of the video. Try it.

I just love air shows so much. I also had such a good time getting the tour over at the Reading Airport Airplane museum. Holy Cow it was so cool. They have engines from planes on display. The museum store is cool too. Go when no one else is there. Like on a Monday or a Friday or anytime there is no show. For 6 Bucks you will get a personl tour. I asked a ton of questions. It was awsome.
