  • I have the same halter for my mare(:

  • Horses blow their tummys up when you strap on the cinch, so you lift up their front legs to make sure you did not lock and loose skin under the cinch. The horse also gives more room to tie the chinch when you lift their legs up. When running on a horse you do not want your sadle to come lose all of a sudden and slip on you.

  • What size saddle is that

  • Another one who doesn't tent the saddle pad, and pulls the pad forward. You crink the hair. You put pressure on the withers. Tenting the pad is for ensuring the withers are not pinched, either. Weird. Tenting the pad should be universal, imho. Not just an english thing.

  • This would be easier to learn from if the instructor wasn't in the way of seeing how to secure the saddle.

  • Its a girl!! SHE HAS TWO TEETS!!!!!

  • This is a nice, informative video. However, she should consider standing to the side a little or moving the camera to a different angle when she is showing the process of wrapping the cinch.

  • they arent pinned at all theres a massive difference between a stressed horse with crazy eyes and pinned ears and a relaxed calm trustworthy horse keeping theyre ears on you listening to you. its a sign the horse respects her and is paying attention to her.

  • you can clearly see the horse has her ears pined and doesnt want the saddle on her back

  • @FeliciaL2287 Actually, the horse is relaxed. When a horse is relaxed their ears can as well be layed back and their body is also relaxed. And if she didn't want the saddle on her, she would have either kicked, tried to bite, or move her head (bobbed) in any way of being annoyed.

  • cant see what your doing with the cinch... your butts in the way.........

  • Okay... i cant see how shes wraping up the strap!! Shes in the freaking way!! lol:P And thats the part i need to learn!! >:|

  • What's his/her name?

  • good job saddling, but you might wanna go back to horse school to determine if they're a boy or a girl.

  • Wow everybody is a little testosterone-y. everybody has their own opinion and their own style. Just because you learned you way is the right way doesn't mean it's the only way

  • u didnt evan explain how to do up the saddle i dont evan know why im watching this i can do up a saddle with meh eyes closed

  • I loved this video, but I couldn't really see what you were doing when you were tightening the front cinch

  • Doesn't the navahoe go on the bottom, then the saddle pad?...

And where she pointed is not her shoulder... Oh boy... Maybe they should pay some more money out and get a person who knows what they're talking about...?

  • i hate this bitch

sorry for people who like her

  • oh god, she does western "instruction" too?!?

  • Your out of leather to tie- how about you get a long girth so your not suffacating your horseand you can tie it right.

  • I'm just saying that the back strap is also called a belly srap. And nice job!

  • She said that horse was a girl when its really a boy! hahahahahahahahaha

  • @angelpaws123 no its a girl..

  • @angelpaws123 Uhmm, If you know anything about horses then you'd know that this is in fact, a female.

  • @angelpaws123 no actually, i think the horse might have been a mother in the past.... lol :P

  • @angelpaws123 How critical..Did you view to see how she saddled a horse, or what sex the horse was? All of yu that know what youre doing should be viewing something else..this is for those of us learning, and for those learning...be shure to view several videos to make a decision on the most common way used to decided right from wrong...Im a new owner but have loved and been around horses most of my life.

  • @dixidog20 god! first of all learn how to spell, douche pickle! And second apparently your the most experienced one here (or at least thats what your loud ass mouth told me) and your telling everyone that they cant watch this video if they are experienced...SO WHAT THE MOTHER FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE HUH?! and third WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO TELL ANGELPAWS123 WHAT HE/SHE CAN AND CANNOT WATCH?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! SO JUST BACK THE FUCK OFF, TURD!!!! >:(

  • @angelpaws123 its mare with a foal u can see the teets

  • @angelpaws123 Actually it's a mare. SHE has nipples. If it were to be a male his "Parts" wouldn't be so far back.

  • @angelpaws123 i think that is a girl if you look closely it looks like utters, she may be pregnant

  • @misty159159 you are correct it is a mare. after seeing your comment I actually looked very closely and noticed that is in fact an utter. lol

  • she blocks when she's wrapping the cinch, how useful is that?

  • I love the colour of the halter!

  • @ThePalomino83 I mean't, in MY TOWN we call them that. Alright? I wasn't saying all of Canada says it. Its like saying we all say "eh"! Only a few of us do.

  • @ThePalomino83 I SAID "round here". So, stfu.

  • @ThePalomino83 Well round here we call 'em udders. >_>

  • @ThePalomino83 it doesnt look fine it should be tighter

  • @ThePalomino83 just for the record i own 3 of my own horses so don't go on acting like you know crap about me when you dont.

  • @ThePalomino83 yeaah some like to double up, others use one pad.. your right. totally optional. :) ahah that was an old comment.

  • @ThePalomino83 big deal.

  • @ThePalomino83 She (the woman in this video) keeps calling him (the horse) a her (what she's calling the horse)

  • Ahhh thank you so much!!! I was so confused about the second cinch before I saw this :3 I'm not confused anymore :) Now at least I know what to do when I get a horse in a month or two as far as that goes. (I've been taking lessons for 6 years now XD I just never had to use the back cinch. But other then the issue of the second cinch I knew how to put the saddle and bridle on) So thanks for posting this, it really did help.

    -Heather

  • @PenguinPownage excuse but I do know I'm talking about... Yeah the horse may be groomed but she should've at least mentioned that you need to

  • @blazeyboy98 The title says How to Saddle a Horse Western style ... not How to Groom a horse before you tack up...

  • this is really helpful. my friend wanted to know how to saddle and i couldnt bring her to see my horse and i showed her this vid :)

  • I needed this little refresher, I forgot a few things! Very helpfull and clear video :)

  • lol it's called going under the neck dummie :)

  • that halter looks a little big. and that horse looks impatiant, lol stomping his feet lol cute

  • u shuld of shot the part when u where tying the cinch to the right at an angle so we culd see it better, no offense, beautiful horse btw

  • lol the horse is all "back off!" great vid btw!

  • WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! groom first you retard! Keep in mind that you don't want alotta pressure on the horses back, the less the better..

  • @blazeyboy98 Thats what i thought also but i thing she ment how to SADDLE a horse... just how to do it! not the whole process!! she still should of mentioned it though!

  • @blazeyboy98 she brushed her horse before the video! didnt you notice how clean the horse was in the beginning of the video?

  • @blazeyboy98 The horse looks like its already been groomed. Find something better to do than act like you know everything.

  • this helps me alot with my horse at the farm that i am breaking so that i know how to proporly put on the saddle thz again:)

  • thanks. this video is very helpful.my grandpa's teaching me how to ride western and i haven't ridden a horse since i was 4 years old so this was very helpful :)

  • that horse is a beauty :)

  • i have never cinched a horse like this....

  • I only ride horses western...I'm looking to learn English though. xD

  • @HorseLovingFreak has more to do with acceleration and what part of the leg your hit with. the kick does not start at full speed it accelerates with the distance it travels so it becomes more of a push than a kick. also your not struck with the heel so much but more of the leg. but you definetly have the right idea and a good point on where your hit.

  • Guys, the horse that she is putting the saddle on is a girl.

Those things under her belly that are sticking out are called teets, not a penis!

  • @boomboompow97 The correct term is "udders" not "teets". >.>

You're not a horse person at all, are you?

  • @167Kagome the udder is where the milk is stored the teet is where the foal sucks the milk from. so 167Kagome was correct. now before you argue with me find a picture of the anatomy of a horse and look at it.

guess he may be a horse person after all but with your comment you basicly said your not a horse person.

    intresting.

  • @123456789mischief Excuse me!? I am so a horse person! I own 10 horses of my own!

1 Arabian, 3 Quarter Horses, 5 Thoroughbreds and 1 Arabian/Quarter Horse cross. And I have been around horses since I was 4 years old. So, how dare you call me a non-horse person.

Also, its more called a Nipple, Teet sounds like Tit and it can be a bit insulting to some people.

p.s Learn the difference between "your" and "you're".

  • @167Kagome I don't care if it is insulting to people it is called a teet learn your terms. it is not a nipple never was never will be. and a horse has two teets one udder. look it up. now how dare you call boomboompow a non horse person when they knew the correct term and you didn't? that would be a little more important to being a horse person than knowing spelling wouldn't it?

10 horses one horse or a hundred does not make a horse person. your basicly a good speller who owns horses.

  • @123456789mischief Why are all you ignorant people arguing??? I came on here to look for fellow riders to see if they had any advice, and you are all arguing about horse genitalia!!!

  • @cammarkgross because someone made an ignorant comment to another individual acusing them of not knowin about horses. I then pointed out how the first person was correct.

So why are you trying to get in on the argument by posting a comment on something that was finished 2 weeks ago? wouldn't it be better to let it go make a new comment and let this string die out?

  • @MsCountrygal18 and @Jakethesnake014 and a bunch of other people

The first thing I learned about horses too was never walk behind them... UNLESS YOU DO IT RIGHT. I also learned not to go under their neck, seeing as I did that once and my horse decided to knee me. Hard.

  • It's a boy, right? (she kept calling him a she) hehe

  • i don't like expert village because the one lady doesn't look happy at all..! i like this one better(:

  • Beautiful horse. She keeps calling him a her, though. Lol.

  • i dont think any of you really even own a horse, what she does is fine as long as you know your hrse and your horse trust you.

  • @129familyguy and I don´t think u knew that the western saddle is coming from Hungary. (The huns had these saddles) (maybe u even dont know where Hungary is, but I hope yes)

  • @129familyguy haha. that's like saying "it's fine that I perform Rollkur, my horse trusts me and I know him well enough he won't fight it."

  • @129familyguy Wow...DHAAA...Obviously they use there own horse! if u know anything about a horse u know they are giving the basics...if u want to know how to saddle a difficult horse then thats what u should have pulled up, DHAAA...wow...ARE YOU A HORSE? hahaha

  • i dont tie my girth like that.

  • u should have put the stuirup on the horn

  • LOVE his halter ahahahahahaha it like the coour heheh

  • Wow, you teach us how to saddle a horse and you don't even do it right...

  • @SilverHorse666 what's wrong about that?

  • @MsCountrygal18

it's a good thing she knows her horse isn't it?

  • Shes a pretty horse , What breed is she??

  • umm, we put the thin pad underneathe, than the thicker pad? :S wierd

  • im still wondering how do u do the cinch?? i dient really get that part. can anyont make a video about that and send it to me

  • I love how at 0:20 the horse is like ''i'm feeling the wind in my face...i'm so cool'' hahahaha loool jk

*this is really helpful :) btw

  • cant really see anything youre doing all i see is your back when youre trying to teach how to loop the straps

  • I always have to use a stool when saddeling. I'm just too short to be able to lift it over my shoulders and PERFECTLY onto the horse. I feel silly, but it's the only way. =_=

  • Personally I saddle my horse a little different.. My saddle doesn't have a sinch for the bucking strap so I don't have to do it. But I didn't happen to see you do your Texas T. I always do it for extra safety. Falling off a horse is sooooooo not fun!

  • Two things: when she placed the saddle pad over her horse's back, she pulled it forward. Then, when she placed the saddle, she pulled it forward, towards the withers. NEVER pull your saddle forward. Place the pad and saddle a little ahead of where you want it to rest on the back, then slide it backwards into place. All that pulling forward pulls the horse's coat again the grain and is uncomfortable for it.

  • Thanks for not wearing a cowboy hat but the belt still stings. It's so hard to find a video of western riding that I can show to my equestrian friends without being embarrassed.

  • @Elfinesmom Western is equestrian......both English and Western fall under Equestrian... equestrian means "The riding and training of horses" :/ I hate how english riders think that term can only be used on them!

  • @hawaiianpony ahhhhhhhhh. That clears up a lot of confusion.

  • @Elfinesmom Yeah, I used to think it only meant for english riders, but I was really wrong! ANywho, happy trails and ride on!

  • Well safety always comes first. My friend actually had a horse for seven years that was the calmest horse I probably ever met and we always could walk behind him. And one day out of know where when she was braiding his tail, he kicked her and she went flying. She broke 2 ribs and her collar bone. I actually do know about horses, probably more than a retarded loser like you who spends there life making fun of comments bc they HAVE no life

  • @CJacklover

if you're close enough to the horses behind, it can't kick you.

the ranch i work at has numerous stallions and you know how they can be.

Just keep your hand on the butt and walk around it. But obviously, if you're walking up from behind it's gonna spook. ya know?

    God Bless. :)

  • @CJacklover Well you never just stand behind the horse! If they horse knows you are there and you walk and not just stop then you can. You gently bring the horses tail off to the side when you do anything with the tail. I understand why you are cautious but you friend was standing directly behind the horse. If the horse is tied it is actually safer to walk around the back then try and duck under the rope and horse. I understand your hesitation but all the same there is a difference.

  • its infact easier to put the strurrups onto the horn when putting the saddle on so th sturrups dont hit the horse and make it spook.

  • 1. you can't even see the sinch being tightened and for stressing to be calm and all for the horse you heavily swung the saddle up and you never, EVER EVER walk behind a horse, even a calm one

  • @CJacklover haha you can walk behind a horse! you just need to know how to. see how shes close to the horse when she walks around it? thats so if the horse decides to kick, it cant kick her because shes close enough that the hoof wont be able to touch her.

  • @Born2loveHorses your an idiot. first thing i learned about horses is to not walk behind them. go under the neck or real far beehind were theres no chance of you gettin hurt.nothing will ruin a good day of ridin like a broken leg....or worse

  • @Jakethesnake014 ur wronggggggggggggggggg

  • @Jakethesnake014 um actually your horse should know ur their idiot

  • @garfieldandhorses it dont matter if the horse knows your there or not, if the horse panics like mine do sometimes they will kick you and it hurts...

  • @Born2loveHorses - its if you put your hand on their rump, and walk very close behind them, they cant raise their foot and get the aiming power they need.

  • @CJacklover haha...you sound like my one friend who knows nothing about horses. Born2loveHorses set you straight, but that's only one of the reasons for walking close. When you are really close to them from behind, they know who and what you are, since horses are so keen on touch more than anything else. looooool, you're funny.

  • how strange not to show the sinch as you are tightening it, this is the trickiest part. You were blocking the correct view! better luck on the next one

  • i love western and english and i never knew it was that easy because when i was riding western when i was just 8 everything seemed so hard when i tacked western now i see it is so easy thanks i love this video i really want to go into english again but everyone says you have to keep wearing such fancy clothes but for no reason it is pointless to wear that fancy stuff riding is not meant to show off clothes

  • This really helped me, thank you :) !

I ride english so when I wanted to go on a trail

ride with my horse I never knew how to do

up the western saddle ! :) its really easy, thanks ! :D

  • Thanks i had no idea how to saddle a horse western!!!

  • lol your trying not to startle her? lol the stirrups practically clashed against her. shes a calm horse but if you going to make an instrutional video why don't you try folding all the stuff on the other side on top of the saddle then walking over and gently lay it against the horse.

  • most people do it like she does it. i do.

  • i dony bickle it like that i make it like a tie on the top ring

  • @buffguy0 i mean i dont do it like that because on my barrl saddle it comes out easy GOd!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was just kiddin bro...lol i do mine the same way...texas t! lol

  • @buffguy0 you are the clueless one that is what barrel racers do because it is safer for us barrelracing1010 is much smarter than you.

  • Chill! I was just picking with him ive told him that twice and i do mine the same way the texas t!

  • wayyyyyy better than expert village

  • @RodeoHorsey They took this video with her and her horse and used it for expert village :(

  • niceeeeee

  • Hi my name is Amanda. Where are you. I have always wanted to ride a horse.

  • Good job it really helped some problems i have had and just one tip to make your horse more comfortable for riding is before you do up the cinch take your hand at the front of the saddle pad and make a little pocket to give the shoulkders more room to move and create no pressure points

  • hi, i am a horse trainer and her is a tip for all of your novise riders in this video she talks about the bucking strap. the bucking strap is opitonal for male horses. the reason i am saying this is because some horses can be skiddish of the bucking strap.

but when u have a female i recamend the bucking strap for more stability.

  • this is a very good instructional video for those who are just learning about riding tack and horse grooming! I reccomend this video to anyone!!!! =)

  • Awesome Video!! I finally learned how to saddle a horse Thanks to this Video!!!! :)

God Bless You and Your Beautiful Horses!!
