  • I sing this song better than this guy.

  • IMO overall Chuck>Cory but Chuck is a little too theatrical to pull off the more somber mood of this song, Cory just handles it with more finnese and care if I can say that without sounding creepy.

  • No Chuck....no Dogs!

  • He looks like snape, thumbs up if you agree

  • Chuck Negron sings this song ridiculously better. Sucks that he still isn't part of 3 dog night.

  • woaw, i am voiceless.

  • this is the best version of "One" here , amazingly sung by Cory . My man Cory - you're the BEST !

  • Lets see how many 69 yr old band members are still touring....uh...still thinking.

  • @il4mygrdkds2 bachman turner still goin strong, ;)

  • Three Dog Night @ Symphonic Orchestra ... Superb song @ sound !!!

  • Cory Wells is the most versatile & talented of the three . He beat Chuck here.

  • @teegaro Of course, look at him, he has the lyrics under his eyelids XD

  • Its that famous harp player....whats her name

  • that girl at 0:16 is one of my music teachers

  • @TheVintageSound1 Girl or women ?

  • @BigFatBoy911 woman

  • ......there is only one Chuck Negron , its a good job done, but it doesnt sound like 3 dog nite.

  • Corey is amazing, Really putting his stamp on this ONE

  • bass player's vocals at 5:11 !!!! very nice!!!

love that song...first heard it in an episode of Family Guy :D

  • Brilliant! Superb!

  • He loved Lily so much. R.I.P. :(

  • skip to 2:18 for the actual song ;]

  • @BSftw1337omG or maybe just enjoy the entire ride of this version of the song tune in 0:00 for the actual song ;)

  • Yes, Chuck is missing. But I think they pulled it off just great, especially considering they're not youngsters anymore. Singers are at a disadvantage with respect to musicians in that regard. Even if you take very good care of yourself, age simply changes your voice. There's no two ways about it. You have to give credit to guys that are way past their 50's and 60's and can still belt it out, even if they can't do it like when they were 25. Thumbs up.

  • 2:20

  • I just saw Chuck Negron...he was truly the voice of 3DN.

  • I think it is SO COOL that they got Severus Snape to sing this!!

  • Well,,,,,,,"after further review" I'm giving this one to Cory hands-down! Checked out several of Chuck's live versions of this song and he just doesn't do it justice, (too busy playing pop-star to really deliver). And even though it's his vocals on the original recording, Cory's is just better.

A song this haunting with all of those minor cords should have been recorded by someone with a more soulful feel who can project pain and heartache, and here it is with Cory, even at 69 y.o.

  • I'd have to give the edge to Cory on this one. He slids effortlessly into that falsetto on the chorus, but still with power; Chuck's voice pretty much drops out on that note. Besides, Cory is the true soul singer in the band and is more versatile. Check out what he does with the Beach Boy song Darling on their anniversary TV special from way back.

  • why does Cory always sing with his eyes closed?

  • why does Cory always sing with his eyes closed?

  • @quietbrook1 he feels the music :D

  • 1:00-1:34

  • Oh Cory this is so wonderfully done.

  • I just found this song today in the radio and I LOVE IT!!!

  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and whoever talks about Chuck in a negatory manner must not know the Chuck Negron Story. He's not proud of the things he went through but they are what brought him to what he is today and has been for the last 20 years, a wonderful singer, better than before and he truly doesn't even need any special effects to sound wonderful, much less an entire orchestra!!

  • this is better than the original

  • I saw 3 Dog Night last spring and had seen them in the 70's. As much as I would've loved to have seen Negron with them. Cory and Danny did an outstanding job. They have carried the 3DN name well. I'm glad Chuck cleaned up his act. They do belong in the Hall of Fame. Their body of work proves that year after year. It is a shame they'll probably never "kiss and make up". However, Cory and Danny and Chuck are all great vocalist.. If 3DN is coming, go see them. They're awesome.

  • thank you ......forget the drama.....thanks.....

  • kinda cool... super long intro though.. . : )

  • great voice still but does he ever open his eyes?

  • Very impressed .Great performance.I still like this song :)

  • I do not care who is, or who is not! Still a great performance!

    Be Love!

  • queen

  • Amazing

  • Chuck should have been there. He was Three Dog Night.. no doubt. Still fine and has the voice.

  • 3DN YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!

  • The beginning is just a bit much! sounds like a tinker bell should come out flying around and land on their shoulders...geez!

  • @shanana000 yeah , stil awesome set up dont you think?

  • This is beautiful. 2:22 begins the singing.

  • The fact that these guys arent in the R&R HOF is a CRIME....

  • A tour de force of vocal harmony from some guys who

    go way back

  • Great!

  • vocal group hall of fame 2,000 - look up three dog night profile

  • vocal group hall of fame 2,000

  • No! Chuck is a hundred times better singer than Cory! This is Chuck's song! And no one including Cory can sing it like CHUCK NEGRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dlandrews Beg to differ, I think that Cory and Danny and there replacement for chuck are incredible. Cory can go from strong blues to ballads in a heartbeat. The overall best singer at least in my opinion is Cory.

  • *****

  • Cory does a great job on "One" but it is Chucks song and Chuck sings it like no other, wish they could patch things up and tour again as the whole Three Dog Night!!!!!

  • Chuck negron is a good friend of mine and I personally like chucks voice better. When he sang nature boy at my grandmothers funeral there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Chuck is the best.

  • My sisters and brother had all there albums. played there music constantly, so of course I grew to like them......I got all the albums handed down.........knew every song off my heart. Nice to hear really good songs again. Thank you.

  • One of the greatest voices of our time.

  • I saw these guys in Gruene Teaxas, they were great

  • I LOVE Three Dog Night! Always will!

Their music reminds me of growing up in Australia!

And what would they be without that CRAZY and HILARIOUS Jimmy Greenspoon!

    This concert is unbelievably amazing!

Hey Jimmy, do you remember when I took you sailing in Bermuda around 1980ish?

I still love you brother! I hope you're doing well!

Best Wishes, Your friend, Tyrone Reveen

    Streamer Effects International

  • damn i didn't realize how well cory filled in on this song.

  • I just saw them tonight at the FRAZE in Kettering Ohio...

Man they brought the house down! GREAT SHOW

  • Damn, I really love the Orchestra in the background. This really kicks ass. Thanks for the post.

  • @ninefivesuited I think it is better than the original version with Chuck

  • @kkirves i hate to agree. chuck's problems are well known. i hope he's ok. but what a great version of a great song written by Harry Nilson. Probabaly miss spelled his name, but he needs his due on this and many othe songs - like the Mariah version of living without you. Harry could write and had a hella good voice.

  • what year was this?

  • this video is just great hehe

  • Danny is tired and needs to go sit down.

  • His transition from modal vocals to falsetto is seamless!

  • God - these guys are still fantastic after 40 years!! Love 3DN!!

  • I like this composition

  • I like this composition

  • LOVE this, the orchestral preamble fits perfectly and think Cory does the job perfectly. Chuck has wasted himself and is history. He can't hold a decent note anymore. I will make this observation - Cory is looking like Severus Snape!

  • No doubt that Cory is a badass singer, but he cannot improve on Chuck's tunes. If only they can put their past behind them. They are 2 Dog Night in their current form, never to be right until Chuck is back in the fold.

  • Most beautiful version i've ever heard of this song since it came out.

  • @borharris I agreed w/ you . This IS the best version of ONE .

  • some songs were meant to be sad due to their message. this song, coupled by

the orchestra's intro especially the flute creates a sadness that is magic...my memories of past loves and its heartbreak only deepens.....

  • These dudes are simply awsome! They can sing...dam they can sing! That's talent. Thank you for my childhood 70's music experience. I'm 42. Rock on Three Dog Night!!

  • This is just an amazing song. It was done here in Australia by a guy called John Farnham. It wasn't until my adult life I discovered the original. Its so good.

  • Nobody can sing this tune any better than Chuck Negron--would be nice if they could be TDN again instead of the two.

  • This is a nice take on a classic song...cool.

  • Have to disagree with a lot of the people posting comments on this performance. I think it is SUPERB and the BEST one on the DVD. Chuck Negron ruined his voice and his self with his abuse of drugs and alcohol. The third time (out of six) that I saw them in concert he was unable to come back after intermission because he was so f###ed up he couldnt even carry a tune. Corey does a better job on this song than Negron ever thought about.

  • I agree with you!!!!!! Cory is a hundred times better singer than Chuck. He makes Chuck's songs even better!!! I would go see TDN even if it was just Cory!!!

  • @golfern58 sorry but you are a bit out of date w/ your comments Chuck has been sober for a long time now & he is sounding & looking better than either one of these other two dogs... we all do things we regret, but that was a long while ago & Chuck should not be publicly chastised for it now..btw he had & still has a far superior

voice than either Dan or Cory..why do you think he sang the majority of their biggest selling hits..

  • @MOSKII58 TDN had 3 #1 hits, Mama told me not to come (Cory), Joy to the world (Chuck), Black and White(Danny). Cory sang their next biggest hit Shambala. So give credit to all three and they all three have wonderful voices.

  • @golfern58 C'mon now...fckd up or not...listen to "till the world ends" 1975 sounstage...c'mon u cant knock his vocal talent...then again...corey does kick ass

  • excellent!!!! thumbs up!!!

  • Without Chuck Negron,, there is no "One".

  • @shrubbmeister ,yes I agree. a big classical orchestra arrangement cant make up for chucks absence.

  • i is 5 *

  • BRILLIANT.. I LOVE THIS

  • No Chuck Negron-NO THREE DOG NIGHT! These clowns are a joke. Allow Chuck back into the band or shut the fuck up and don't call yourselves the Three Dog Night.

  • @spiderdragon1969 Hey fuck off my uncles their drummer. They're still great and they keep the music alive so gtfo man.

  • @mindfreak990 They kicked the most talented guy out of the band for drug abuse. that was 25 years ago. He's been clean and sober for over 20 years and they won't let him back in cuz they're greedy motherfuckers! I saw Two Dog Night last summer and they sucked without Chuck. They only sang half their hits cuz they're afraid to get bood for singing Chick's songs! What a fucking joke!! They fucked up by kicking Chuck out now just a handful of people come to their concerts.

  • @spiderdragon1969 Whoa, getting fierce now, aren't we? I agree Chuck was great, but drugs are a perfectly good reason to kick him out. And I've MET them all and I know Chuck doesn't want to come back. And how is that when almost all of their concerts in the past 5 years sold out? Get owned.

  • @mindfreak990 I was at their concert in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was the Freedom Fest held at the Kirkwood Campus. America was the opening act. There were just a few hundred people there. The crowd actually got more excited for America than they did for Two Dog Night. Whether or not Chuck wants to be back in the band doesn't change the fact that the band sucks without him. Why they even attempt to sing this song is beyond me. What a joke. Looks like YOU just got owned!

  • @spiderdragon1969

What's interesting is that despite his drug abuse, Chuck still looks younger than the other two. Cory looks 70 years old and he lived the cleanest. If went back in the gorup they'd have to change their look.

  • @behdoc that is weird..maybe cause he was taller ??

  • @behdoc This isnt Chuck buddy. This is another singer lolz.

  • amateurish critics suck....this version does not..imagine yourself in a supergroup of three and then it becomes two...yet you still kick butt..amatuers who criticize should stick with karaoke...good job fellas...you still rock...

  • @ladytandsirc I so agree with you, these guys still sound fantastic!

  • Nicely put, ladytandsirc. You are right on! :)

  • this thing absolutely sucks. the strength of the song gets it through do yourself a favor and don't listen until ~2:30.

  • I'm going to have to say I'm with you on this one, my brother. Some of the other performances from this same show are pure magic, but this one is shite. Rock on.

  • Can't say I'm too fond of the flute at the beginning but overall it was absolutely brilliant.

  • three dog nights greatest hit!

one is a very lonely number - but very presant!

  • love this song and how they started smashing the hook near the end...gave me goosebumps

  • Did u guys notice threw this whole song he has his eyes closed until it was over.....song was good though

  • Does anybody know when this video is from? I saw them in 08 and would love to again this summer

  • When I googled this it came up as 2002, said 3DN recorded it in Calif, and The London Symphony recorded it in England, but all sales for this CD or DVD claims the Tennessee symphony in the live performances.

  • I've seen it for sale since... that is interesting about the top sentence (Calif and the London Symphony). THey look like they're together with an orchestra. Perhaps there was an audio only version with the separate recordings.

  • The orchestration is ridiculously indulgent...beautiful but too long for intoductions. I've watched two songs now and half the video is an intro!

  • Comment removed

  • Granted, the intro is long, but I'm sure they needed to be heard/recognized for their talent, if it was a recording and not live, the intro should have been shorter! I love all kinds of music and I wrapped my mind around both styles, it's totaly awesome. Originally the "Dog" had the best front 3 vocalists you could ever hope for. Amazing Cory has such a powerful voice. 5 Stars!

  • he voice is AMAZING!

  • Danny and Cory are great volcalist. Chuck is also great. To compare which one is better, you cant. All three are excellent singers. 3DN should be in the Hall of Fame.

  • 2DN had several hits:

    Joy to the World

    Old Fashioned Love Song

    Shambala

    Liar

    Eli's Comming

    Celebrate

That just some of them. They should be in the Hall of Fame.

  • @b42baritone the hall of fame is a disgrace

  • @b42baritone you're right about their voices ,, but i think chuck sang it better ,, but that's just my oppinion oh and"Easy to be hard"

  • @b42baritone I can't recall any group/band that had 3 front men that could sing anything like these guys back in the day, truly amazing and talented!.

  • @b42baritone I'm with you 100%. But I think the only thing that holds them back is they did not write their own songs. But they should be given credit for bringing some of the great song writers songs of there era to life! They had so much talent and are among the greatest pop/rock bands in the history of RnR. Right after The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Bee Gees.

  • These guys are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! At my age it's good to see people OLDER than mestill getting down!!!!! Thanks for posting this.

  • There great without chuck.

  • no mas mejor arreglo

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE THIS >>>

  • I know why these guys don't want Chuck back...Cause he WAS the talent in the group...these two were Chucks back up singers ..and they KNOW it...Chuck sang the biggest hits,Chuck was THE attraction for the ladies...and the heart and soul of 3DN..this looks like a karaoke' version being sang at a million bars every week in the world(just with an amazing back up band),sorry you two,Chuck may have been a screw up,but he deserves another chance, bring the REAL show back, and stop ripping off the public

  • Duh....No I have not been in a closet for 30 years,I KNOW Chuck had MANY substance abuse issues.....but he was THE undeniable talent in the band..I mean ,I'm not saying these two are hacks, but they definetly are 2nd and 3rd on the talent ranking of 3DN..And I heard Chuck on the radio about 6 or 7 years ago,and he STILL had the chops,so I don't know where you came up with that assessment? It was an opinion, not a challenge to get in a pissing contest with you,I'm just NOT impressed with these two!

  • @nikkisman914 oh dear oh dear oh dear, cory is a profoundly better vocalist than chuck could ever wish to be in his wildest dreams. it's shame, a philistines life is a very sad one.

  • Not the same without Chuck:(

  • Maybe he's in rehab or something.

  • nooooooooooooooooo where is chuck

  • wow

  • Great job WOW BUT: What happened to Chuck?

  • love this cause its instramental not fkae computer created

  • soo great!

  • yo on the realy this guy can sing pertty dop

  • Just Wow !

  • Good job

  • absolutely incredible...geez...

    God Bless ~Amy

  • Maitre d' : "How many in your party?"

Me : "Ummm, just table for one please."

    Maitre d' : (Sympathetic) "Understand."

My God, these guys are SO RIGHT!!

  • Cory, Danny and Mike would not sign any autographs after their show at the Coastal Carolina Fair in Ladson, SC. They went out of their

holding area and into the van. It was a cold night in October '08. We loved them so and could not say hello to Three Dog Night.

  • One is my favorite song.

Three dog night with orchesta sounds grest to me,anyway.

  • Demasiado bueno! i love song!! la amo la amo!

  • i liked the little orchestral part at the beginning. Brings back good memories.

  • Its better when Negron does it

  • Are there not videos of Negron singing the song on youtube?

  • you gotta be kidding me!

  • Corry was the guy that inspired me to sing back in the late 60's .. Great stuff! I remember when he left Bullao and went to Cal in hopes to do more with his talent.. He has..

  • Seems to me that you are pre-occupied with gayness. Maybe you wish he was blowing your flute!

  • Great song - this brings back memories!!!

  • AH SISSY-I can't believe your'e gone-be at peace and no more pain my sweet angel sister-one is the loneliest number for

I am now a solo act without my sister-

I will forever love and Remember-your one and only sister

  • Awesome concert! Shame on Chuck Negron for bowing out! Three Dog Nightmare, gimme a break! Danny and Cory are giving the fans what they want even now, and not missing a beat. Forget the past Chuckie, and do whats right! Have some fun, and collect a little ching! The past is the PAST! get over it!

  • Is this from some dvd?
