God just reading the comments here brings me down so bad.......I miss my scene! It's been over a decade and I don't think I'll ever get to be part of something so real again.....I'm lucky to at least have the memories tho :) Excellent upload btw.....Way to be :)
I grew up in Aurora and the first party (I remember) was in 1993 at a little warehouse with about 100-150 people. They had a clear ticket it said Phamily on it in blue with silhouhettes of people. I still have that ticket. When I walked in I was handed a balloon . . .they also had huge bouncy balls and those little seats that you move the handle bars and you cruise around the room. . . I miss those days! Thanks for documenting a slice of our past.
I totally wish I could find videos for Fun Factory, that was my first rave.. think it was 99 or 98 and the Sun Festival was right after it but I never ended up going...those were the days. Man, fun fun fun times.
that party actually happened in 2000, in east aurora, sorta where the arapahoe county fairgrounds is at right now. That too was my 1st party. I still remember getting there and simply losing my mind in the main stage and catching ty tek on one of the 6 stages the had there. Man was was the best party EVER!! long live synesthesia productions!
i was at the skylab that was at bishops castle..... Bo Basic, Together, and Lowerworld were definately rockin heavy at that time, the summer massives with Main event, The episode series and all the planets..... Denver had a dope scene
you know what i miss? Synergy and Amsterdam! damn.......those were some CLUBS! traxx 2000 and the deadbeat club were pretty cool when they got jumpin.
i miss the rave scene out there. i was a promoter at this time out of the springs.
Right now only r&b,in lodo no fun to much.I like right now Poul van dyk Markus shulz and Armin van buren.State of trance and Global DJ broadcast.Hope peaple have fun:)Are you whith me?
Okay If anyone needs a time-line of when this all went down ask me. Email Works here. I was there through the whole thing. Begain late 90 and got "big" by our standards in 91. By 93 when the Phactory (warehouse you see here-All the Art/Signage is by my hands) was a hit we had 3,000 plus at Several of The EDEN Series outside of Boulder. They just got bigger & bigger at times. Other times we had to go underground to keep is chill. Love, Light & Deep Peace 2 U & Yours.
my first rave was in lodo denver in a place called muddy's coffee shop...around 1995. Went to a hhundred more raves around Boulder and Denver until my last one, which was the SUN festival by roofless productions in southpark, CO........i miss those days forever...
So great to see this - old friends and great times. The dates mentioned are definitely wrong though - this may have been up to 15 years ago, 'cause I look about 15 lbs. lighter ;)
This is great! and I remember every one of those parties!!! Except the years are wrong..this was from 95-97 that most of these parties went down..we were rockin in the school house around 95-96. I still have the flyers from that entire time period.
You are right..I was about to correct myself and say earlier..94 sounds correct..could even go 93 when it started...but by 94 it was rockin. The school house was definitely before 95. I just told a friend, now I just knock it out with my four year old on the living room floor. Oh, so many memories..and probably a few I have forgotten!
now that it is "legal" to throw permitted raves in Denver, the scene is tainted with commercialism, false advertisements, and no soul or unity what-so-ever.
@baby13sc It's not so much irony as what happens when a scene that's put together only for the love and enjoyment gets co-opted by those who see it as a way to profit from it.
IT IS so FUNNY to see Myself as such a YOUNG ARTIST Guy. I love seeing all my old friends who were so supportive in those days & all the FUN PEEPS in Denver. Wish I had a CAM back then so I could have made some VIDZ of my OWN defining the scene even more. I REALLY Miss those days When ART & Tunes were so Cutting EDGE - pre 911. ART is really lacking SUBSTANCE & Poison these days. IF YOU Look Closely & U'll see my HANDY-WORK ART is all over that warehouse Behind almost EVERY SHOT! Miss the days!
This scene has such a great vibe thats something that is missing in the big modern raves these days the underground is what brings ppl together the best rave ive been to was in an underground car park. walk down a amall set of stairs then the vibe and the lights hit thats what its all about the cops want to break them up cause they are scared of the youth and their power
