of course they can. if you want to call it training. i mean, the cat does it to get the food. :-) food is a big motivator for most cats. try it. but in the end, unlike dogs, they won't let themselves be controlled. in my experience anyway.

i teached my cats to sit, laydown, give a paw, give the other paw ands sit pretty, but they only do it for a treat! :) You can train you pet nearly everything you just need lots of patience

I taught a stray cat who moved in with me the same thing, except I said "GIMMEE FIVE!" and he'd slide his paw gently across my palm, claws NOT out...And all HE got was a pat on the head & would purr like crazy! Some just naturally want to please their owners (AND themselves!) But, they are few & far between!SMART cat, and cute video-THANKS!
