Poirot is great, really utilises the loopholes of being a private detective. You can be an absolute asshole to everybody because you're under no obligation to be nice to anybody :L
anyone know what the name of the episode was when poirot was sort of on holiday and there was a murder at the bottom of a cliff on a beach and there was something about sailing boats and different coloured sails... it was ages ago so i can't remember... =(
I doubt Egypt had any gun laws and if they did I doubt they would prevent Brits from carrying guns, probably just the locals, since Egypt was still part of the Empire.
Adore Suchet as Poirot! AC provided goosebump moments when I was a kid - had to keep fighting the urge to take a peek at the last few pages for the reveal! As a young adult I bought many of her books and one summer started reading them back to back - and you know what - every single time, I swear, within the first few pages I was able to guess who the murderer was. Five lil pigs, pocketful of rye, lord edgware, this one - it took away that mystique. Still a fan though...just dnt read em together!
In the 30's, I'm not sure stalking or carrying a gun in one's purse was illegal. It's not a good idea to assume the laws of today were the same. As far as "stalking" goes, that's only been a crime since the early 80's, I think.
David Suchet as Poirot is wonderful.......He is never shocked at the capability of evil from just about anyone.

@WhooshJenn Intimidated by a frightened young woman who is being stalked? Yeah, thats a real accomplishment. If this happened in the 21st Century Jaqueline would be in jail and a great tragedy would be averted. Stalking is in fact a great crime in itself. For good reasons.
@allconspirer I have also wonder, but in part 1 she says she has some money put by (saved). She used to be rich - that how she became friend with Lynnet.
@allconspirer Thats a very good point? How has no one noticed that. Come to think of it, is it realistic that Poirot would allow Jackie to walk around free after that gun bit? Im sure carrying a concealed weapon is not legal. Why wouldn't he be smart enough to understand that trouble of some kind was inevitable unless she was restrained?
@allconspirer In the novel it is mentioned by Simon that she has a little money put aside but must be using it all to follow them around the world. Poirot points out that this means at some stage Jackie will be stranded and unable to get home when it all runs out, and Simon seems to almost feel guilty about that but then brushes it aside as not being his fault.

When one sees how la crème de la crème behaved in this period, one wonders why we British didn't have a revolution too like the Russians did in 1917.

David Suchet often says the lines from the book just like I thought that Poirot should say them. :)
But I have to say, I liked Linnet alot more in the book!

I liked Linnet better in the book but I can't help but think the woman who is acting as Linnet is so pretty!!
Just my thought!

Why has no one questioned Jacqueline's ability to travel to Egypt after them, she's supposed to be penniless right?
