@morbo5247 So they ate the fruit. God found out and expelled them from the garden, and cursed Eve so that childbirth would be exceedingly painful for all generations. God said that they would die when they ate of the fruit. Yet they did not literally die, but they died in a different sense. See, that day was the birth of sin. Because of Adam's and Eve's actions, we know what is right and wrong and when we choose wrong it is sin. This is what God meant by death. Not instant death, but eternal.

To not eat fruit from the tree of knowledge good and evil. He said if they ate of it they would surely die. One day Satan tricked them into eating from it, saying that they wouldn't die, but that God is just shelfish and doesn't want them to eat it because they will gain knowledge and power like God.
