  • i just love this kind of lifestyle BUSCHCRAFT<3

  • Can u link me to the place in sweden to do this =)

  • imagine they´d fall all down at the same time

  • Very Interesting A+

  • thank you for the video

  • The title is misleading. I was expecting Sarah Palin.

  • From time to time Worked with Lars and Fredrik in Lars Workshop in my former work, a useful tip he told me was if one needs an even harder edge one can simply wrap a pice of the damazener steel around a pice of pure high carbon steel then one still gets the strenght and beatuty of the damaszener blade but boes not need compromize for the material in the edge. (however, Ni steel is wery hard itself and the otherpart is already high carbon so it not critical just if want extra fine sharpness)

  • folding is asian technique not europen

  • @dactylus90 First: Damascus is in Asia. Second: Folding steel is a technique that has been used in Europe for over one thousand years. Before smiths could get large quantities of high quality steel like today, it was much easier to take multiple steels with different properties to make a more resilient blade. The Saxons did it, the Scandinavians did it, it is definitely a European technique.

  • @purplesquirrl wooo you can still say that if you did not study the history and time table hahaha pathetic and false info

  • @dactylus90 No. Scandinavian swords were often made of multiple bars of steel twisted together then folded to form a center, then harder steels were used to form the edge. Saxons used a similar technique. Folding steel is not a uniquely Asian technique. If you have some proof you can pull out of thin air, please do, instead of just saying my information is wrong without making a reasoned contradiction.

  • @purplesquirrl I have been manking swords and knives the old way for half my life and you are spot on. The people of northern Europe were making swords that were made of folded and twisted bars of iron and steel 900 years before the Japanese. Their swords were also VERY sharp, not some blunt bar. The reason we only hear about Japanese swords is because it is exotic.

  • @Brandulfrsmed That's very interesting. Is it true that the main reason the Japanese folded their steel many times was because they needed to even out the impurities due to Japan's naturally bad steel?

  • @synal Spot on yet again! The iron ore in Japan was/is rather impure vs. the northern European counterpart. The ore from Sweden was highly prized as was the ore from Spain. The way iron was made back in those times pre and post Viking age as well as the Japanese way would yield a mass like a hard sponge, full of voids and so forth. "Folding" was done by both peoples as a means to clean and homogenize the final product, iron and steel alike. It takes quite a bit of work to make a sword that way!

  • @Brandulfrsmed Ah, I see. I think that you're right about the exotic factor giving Japanese swords its high status in popular culture. In fact, I read that after Japan began trading with the West, some samurai began to wear western style plate armor to foil the katana's relatively weak penetration! The reverse is happening here in Asia; Western style swords (especially the Gladius, after Gladiator) is all the rage. I guess people like something different :)

  • @dactylus90 you're wrong.

  • @TheClockStrikes13 you're idiot

  • how would i get knife back in the country ?

  • KNIFE PERFECT, WONDERFUL!

  • that aint no butterfly knife

  • @justyoustupid Needs more dragon imprints.

  • 0:55 hail to chaos undivided :>

  • Why would 19 people dislike this? Crazy world!

  • @ncbookz they got so exited and missed the botton

  • im sooo gonna try and make those huge epic swords/axes from WoW... xD

  • @blugga1001 First I'm going to call you a bit of an idiot just a bit and secondly best of luck on your challenge, really. Make a video of your progress

  • Can sump oil work. or is it too dirty?

  • @Avatar230594 It's actually the carbon in the oil that strengthens it. It should be dirty or it doesn't do it's job.

  • @jasonofcompsci Thanks very much

  • ok so do u know where to find a slab of 1095 high carbon steel this .25in thick and 20 inches overall.

  • @attackoftherandom yeah they do, it's probably one of the most common fuels besides the propane forges. it's more reliable and is much hotter burning then coal.

  • @sibi12123 where the heck do you live that you can find coke? i have never seen it here.

  • one of the best knifemaking movies i saw on YT. my next video will be from forging damascus for sure ...

  • it would be awsom if you made a ballistic knife! :)

  • That isn't a Damascus forge by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a nice video.

  • Nice Video ! like it

  • Crossfire game new Knive: knive camo =]]

    it's beautyful

  • can anyone who goes there make one?

  • ни хуя не пойму что пиздят

  • Please, I don't speak english very well, so I have a question, the knife is made from Nickle steel and which is the second steel? Thanks

  • @Jeffyski carbon steel

  • these people barely did anything, they just used a machine shaper and a grinder. anyone can do that.

  • @a10fjet Well, all they did was making a simple knife?

  • Awesome video and knives!! One question though: Where do you get pieces of nickel steel like that?? Thanks

  • how long do you learn to get your official blacksmith graduation?

  • I don't see any bushcraft here.

  • @HomoGnosticus dude bushcraft is not survival

  • @SerbianBushcraft

It's about crafting in the bush and I doubt you'll find a forge in the bush.

  • im 12 and ive started making knives.one day i hope to be as good as the people in this video :)

  • @123moonwolf12 Just stick with it. Don't give up. Learn from reading books, watching videos, asking others, and even from your own mistakes. If you enjoy it, keep at it. Knowledge and skill come from learning and practice.

  • @123moonwolf12 it's a valuable skill to know :)

  • Very nice video thank you.

  • Wow, those knifes are works of art. Now I must convince my parents If I can build a forgery in the back yard.

  • awesome Vid!

  • acid what ?

  • thanks

  • CONGRATULATIONS your vidéo is really great !!!!!

  • stupid asses it is NOT A BUTTERFLY KNIFE if you don't know something don't speak and make a fool of yourself !!!!!!!!!!

  • Read the effing comments before telling him it is a butterfly knife again.

  • yeah that giant press that hammers the steel makes you saying "Each axe is hand forged" really stick out, jackass

  • @Breathor you do know that blacksmiths have used machine powered hammers for centuries if not millennia? If not, look up "trip hammer" on wikipedia.

Iron is soft, its really a pleasure to work with. Steel is much harder and you have less time to hammer it with each heating. So machine hammers save a lot of time when hammering the basic shapes and they are great for forge welding (where the more heatings you do, the more chances there are of something going wrong)

  • @puppeli Well thats nice, but i still dont consider useing a giant hammer press to be hand forged. thanks for the info tho

  • @Breathor where does it say its hand forged? The title says 'How to make a knife" it doesnt say anything about it being handforged

  • Gonna make me a bowie I think.

  • awesome

  • Only if I had a full forge -.-

  • @ThaisBlackXboxLive make one man

  • @Dragonstud I'd love to.. But I still have school x'd Not alot of spare time.

  • I don't quite consider holding the metal as it goes through a series of shaped presses to be "hand forged," personally.

  • When ever I am in a city, school or somewhere, I am on edge and feel out of place. But when I go into the bush with my family or boy scout troop, I am at peace and feel right at home.

    why is that?

  • @daboodeef179 Because cities are unnatural.

  • @dabood because the dodo died out

  • I would love to do that!!!! great video as ever

  • I am swedish and forg in swedin

  • Liked it a lot.

    Thanks

  • this is fucking sexy

  • @blacksmither1 Yea it is fun, I once played the town blacksmith at a museum set up like an old western town, it was great to show the kids the way things were made long before computer controlled lathes and mills. I was making stuff like branding irons and had the time of my life.

  • @undercurrentspaulo Wait are you serious?

  • @undercurrentspaulo butterfly knife gravity knife you filing it aroung and things like that look it up

  • @undercurrentspaulo butterfly knife

  • @undercurrentspaulo

Balisong is the Filipino term for a "butterfly knife". I believe the Balisong originated from Taal, Batangas in the Philippines. The name Balisong came from the words "baling sungay" or "broken horn" because the handles of the butterfly knife was originally made from broken carabao (water buffalo) horns.

  • @undercurrentspaulo a butterfly knife duh

  • @undercurrentspaulo it's a traditional Filipino pocket knife either used for fighting or as a utility knife

  • @undercurrentspaulo a butterfly knife they ment to say ballisong

  • @undercurrentspaulo A ballsong is the song your wife hums when she is licking my balls.

  • @undercurrentspaulo Well, generally it is when someone attempts to sing a lively song while being tea-bagged at the same time.

  • He did nice knife. The steel looks like wood in vid:) but in grey and black colors.

  • it isn't required to use borax to draw impurities out of the mettle, but it speeds up the process if you do use it. I personally just fold the mettle over and over again, on some of my better knives i fold it at least 50 times. the more impurities that are in it, the weaker the blade will be, so try to get as much of it out as you can.

  • @Harbinger417 "Try to get as many impurities out as you can" that is the reason for the Borax! It also makes a far superior weld of the two metals together. Without it or some other agent, (there are a hand full), instead of having a single blade at the end, you get 200 layers of really thin steel. If you aren't careful, you will break one of your blades right in half.

  • this is called a to z BUSH craft ya it hand forged but ho has a grinder or saw and all those other big tolls

  • @magicdevil97 all can be replaced by smaller versions of the same tools.

  • Bra jobb, gratulationer

  • very impressive, thanks a lot

  • It makes me sad to know how many people will never know the joy of creating something that will survive them with their own hands, and who's entire "life work" could be wiped out by a single electromagnetic pulse taking out a hard drive.

  • what happens if you don't draw impurities from the steel? does it break or does it just look weird? someone please reply

  • @soccerjunky23 it can temper with the hardnes that will most likely make it brake under stress

  • @soccerjunky23 you end up with a weaker blade.

  • Very beautiful patterns with that process.

  • I have no actual interest in bushcraft, and I'm far from a smith, but I still find watching videos about it very educational and interesting. Learning can only be good!

  • @Andreazor unless its about bad stuff...

  • some people like me never go outside...we just stay inside and eat taco bell. : (

  • @TheGreenPlague that's sad. . . i'm the same, haha

  • @TedOfNod yea. i think it's more sad we watch survival craft videos even though we will never use the material.

  • he wil cuts his fingers of i think.... on 2:02 the harly on the anvil it's dangerous!
