Mink whale populations are currently large. Regulating the amount of whales is one way to keep the population healthy, and by doing that fewer mink whales will live a life in permanent hunger and disease.
I am proud and happy Norway objected to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) commercial whaling moratorium, because it is founded on populism, not facts.

Hunting wild animals is in my opinion much more ethical than industrial food production with large mammals.

i was born and raised in the southern us, i was raised hunting deer and hogs. if i was norwegian or inuit. i would hunt whales. hunting is traditional way of putting food on the table. thought these scenes are gruesome, so were the hog killing and chicken killings we had when i was a child. but if you wanted to eat you had annual slaughters. im not sure i agree with what the japaneese are doing though. they are killing for profit.

You guys got to understand that if we norwegians stop hunting the minke whale, they will overpopulate and consume the young cod and coalfish in the area, which is of tremendous importance on the fauna of the ocean in the area as well as a huge part of Norway's economy.
Nature regulates itself, as it has for many thousands of centuries before humans cropped up. The overfishing has little to do with natural predators and all to do with people taking far too many fish out of the sea for both themselves and for sale. The seals/whales/porpoise eating too much story is just a cover. It would never happen if humans weren't so greedy.

Whale meat is universal and you can eat/cook it many ways. You can BBQ it, fry it, boil it, bake it, wok it, stew it, casserole it, raw, in a hamburger, on a pizza.

this is not about whose country eats what people. this is about how the animal is killed. The whales suffer and often die from drowning...sometimes suffering for hours. And the fact is that Norway is hunting Fin whales, which are endangered and should be protected. I understand for some countries this is their culture, but there has to be more humane ways to do this, and more regulations. period.
Why I support it? Well I have to eat dont I? And why is this more cruel than putting a cow or sheep, whatever other animal into a tiny space so they cant move just to save room. All they do all life is standing there eating(including steroids) and looking on the wall. When they finally get to move they get cut into pieces, what a life. While whales get to live their whole lives in free before they get captured, I would definitely prefer that.

No Minke whales died to create a veggie burger. Do insects die as a result of the farming for the ingredients that go into a veggie burger- yes. But if you feel the killing of a worm is the same as deliberately killing a Minke whale (and you support the slaughter of Minke whales) then it would also follow that you have no problem with humans slaughtering each other. Because your argument is that all death is equivalent.
As long as we are alive we are going to cause suffering for other creatures. It's unavoidable. But I don't think it's fair to say that because someone can't live a 100% cruelty free lifestyle they should throw in the towel and live a thoughtless life, killing and eating whatever they want. No one can live a perfect life. But that inability to lead a perfect life does not give someone the privilege of being thoughtless and irresponsible. We are still obligated to do the best we can.

Are you really this stupid? International law is made as so:
A bunch of countries come together and sign a treaty where they agree that they shall/shall not allow/commit/disallow X.
Those countries are bound by that treaty.
If Norway never signed the anti-whaling agreenment (They didn't), they are not bound by the law.
You _may_ have a case on Japan, since they did sign the treaty, but Norway never did.

Mink whale populations are currently large. Regulating the amount of whales is one way to keep the population healthy, and by doing that fewer mink whales will live a life in permanent hunger and disease.
I am proud and happy Norway objected to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) commercial whaling moratorium, because it is founded on populism, not facts.
For the sake of animal welfare, I will now go to the shop and by a nice, healthy whale-beef.

I am proud of our whaler's and I am proud to eat Minke whales. They taste great and the beef is very healthy.
In fact, fresh whale meat is a part of my balanced healthy dietry intake of food.
There is many nutrients, trace elements, vitamins and minerals in fresh whale meat not found elsewhere.
Also, there is no mercury in the meat. That is false.

Hunting wild animals is in my opinion much more ethical than industrial food production with large mammals.
Unless you are a strict vegan, I think it is really out of touch with reality to claim that the whale hunting of Norway is wrong.
Many people are so out of touch with nature that they dont realize what went into the hamburger they are themselves eating. Then they sit and complain about whaling

i was born and raised in the southern us, i was raised hunting deer and hogs. if i was norwegian or inuit. i would hunt whales. hunting is traditional way of putting food on the table. thought these scenes are gruesome, so were the hog killing and chicken killings we had when i was a child. but if you wanted to eat you had annual slaughters. im not sure i agree with what the japaneese are doing though. they are killing for profit.

In norway only the over abundant Minke whale is harvested and the annual quota is never reached. Only 1 per pod is taken and no calves or expectant mothers.
Each whale is taken as part of the annual sustainable harvest system.
Besides that, whale tastes great. Much like tender beef. It's really nice. It can also be cooked any way you like.

Nature regulates itself, as it has for many thousands of centuries before humans cropped up. The overfishing has little to do with natural predators and all to do with people taking far too many fish out of the sea for both themselves and for sale. The seals/whales/porpoise eating too much story is just a cover. It would never happen if humans weren't so greedy.

Whale harvesting has to have a future, so we don't kill every whale we can.
Anyway, whale has to be fresh. Ultra fresh.

We have to still look after the populations of Minke whales. That's why it is only the over-abundant Minke that is harvested. They still management.

Norway only harvests the over abundant Minke whale. Each year the quota is never reached. All the meat is virtually pre-sold before the boat gets back to shore.
Whale meat is universal and you can eat/cook it many ways. You can BBQ it, fry it, boil it, bake it, wok it, stew it, casserole it, raw, in a hamburger, on a pizza.
It's much like beef really. Super tender beef. Tastes great, i love eating it.

this is not about whose country eats what people. this is about how the animal is killed. The whales suffer and often die from drowning...sometimes suffering for hours. And the fact is that Norway is hunting Fin whales, which are endangered and should be protected. I understand for some countries this is their culture, but there has to be more humane ways to do this, and more regulations. period.

Why I support it? Well I have to eat dont I? And why is this more cruel than putting a cow or sheep, whatever other animal into a tiny space so they cant move just to save room. All they do all life is standing there eating(including steroids) and looking on the wall. When they finally get to move they get cut into pieces, what a life. While whales get to live their whole lives in free before they get captured, I would definitely prefer that.

But if you feel the killing of a worm is the same as deliberately killing a Minke whale (and you support the slaughter of Minke whales) then it would also follow that you have no problem with humans slaughtering each other. Because your argument is that all death is equivalent.

But I don't think it's fair to say that because someone can't live a 100% cruelty free lifestyle they should throw in the towel and live a thoughtless life, killing and eating whatever they want. No one can live a perfect life. But that inability to lead a perfect life does not give someone the privilege of being thoughtless and irresponsible. We are still obligated to do the best we can.
