  • THIS PIECE OF MUSID IS HEAVENY,GREAT WORK 5****

  • Best I've heard off the chello yet!

  • very good men!!!

    congratulations!!!

  • Great!

  • thanks!

  • Great ! (y)

  • thanks!

  • Nice playing

But this is not the first cello suite.

It's the first prelude from the well-tempered clavier.

    Cheers

  • Scratch that comment - it is the 1st prelude for cello.

    My mistake.

(The nice playing - still stands....)

  • even on the guitar it's timeless and awesome! HOLLA!!!

  • Fantastic bass guitar, sounding, playing and style!

    Cheers! 5*

  • cheers man, thanks.

  • do you have a tab sheet for this?

  • no, sorry, I've never tabbed that one out. Just playing in the octave written, and I use a high C string...

  • k,np

  • great!

  • thanks.

  • that's incredible

  • thanks very much.

  • Very nice ... good job :)

  • WOW! this is nice! I would like to try this someday.

  • give it a go today!

  • Sounds liek the action is a little too low or the neck is bent back??

  • who knows, that's not my thing. I have a great repair tech that I bring my instruments to (Jim & Jon Mouradian of Mouradian Guitars Winchester, MA! Best guitar techs in the area!) but I haven't brought him this one yet.

  • I said that because of the way the low strings sounded when you were hammering on... No offense but how can that "not be your thing" if you have obviously played for a long time and know the instrument? Shouldnt you at least be able to tell how it is set up and what effects it has on the instrument?

  • great tapping! :)

  • I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  • Is theres tab?

  • hey there,

Thanks for listening. I've never tabbed this one out, but am just reading the cello score, and playing in the same range.

  • Use your ear and your eyes!

  • I'm not actually reading this, I do have it memorized, if that's what you mean. Meant that I'm playing it in the same range written.

  • Very nice. I am a classical guitarist, ,but have just bought a Michael Kelly acoustic bass, and am hoping to apply some of my techniques to the bottom end... Thanks for the vid

  • dude try that on a classical like that.

  • hey ben you got an audio recording of Bach Cello Suite Prelude at all? I'm studying the piece now, and its that i dont want you to get more views but i dont wanna be constantly downloading everytime i need a listen...lol.

no worries anyways if you don't.

    thanks

    Daniel

  • formidable!

  • NICE MALMSTEEN SHIRT.

    very fantastic playing ben

  • I do love that shirt. Haven't tried wearing it at work just yet (friday is casual day), but maybe someday, lol. YJM is the best!!!

Glad you like the prelude, give it a go on your 6-er.

  • nice shirt

  • yeah man! He is the man!

  • Thanks for playing this in the right key, Man!!

Acoustic Bass is a nice touch too.

  • OMG u r amazing!!!

  • cool...

  • Rock on, J S Benny!

  • thanks Frank!

  • did u drop tune the guitar to D??

  • I'm tuned E-A-D-G-C

  • thanks, i want to learn how to play that, very beauiful by the way

  • pretty crap mate, work on it

  • That was beautiful, man. Just beautiful.

  • sick

  • beautiful playing. i am working on this myself, but nothing like yours.. nice!! btw, i am trying to get a decent sounding 5 string ABG without breaking the bank.. r u serious - Dean sounds so good.. or is it cos of the player? please let me know. i will go buy it then.. when i tried it, it seemed very unfinished and crappy..

  • thanks--you are too kind. Yeah, I love the Dean 5. Definitely get phosphorbronze EAB-specific strings. I use the Thomastik's (witha high C)--they sound great. Get a Dean, you'll love it!

  • Thanks, will do. I also gotta say. I was practicing with cello tuning, but seeing you do it in standard (E-C) I am going to try it too. Did you have to fix the action for the fret buzz or just the strings?

Man, I must have listened (ur songs on ur website) to your playing 50 times so far.. AWESOME playing.. IMHO, better interpretation/emotions than patitucci.

  • cello tuning is definitely a lot of fun, I do that with a capo a fair amount. As to the bass, I haven't taken it to the shop yet, I just switched to the phosphorbronze strings and a few truss rod tweaks here and there. All the clips you hear in my profile on this bass are 100% acoustic, no amps at all.

Thanks for listening to my stuff. I really appreciate it.

  • great song and nice playing do you know anywhere i could get the tabs or notes for this song becuase i can only find a couple and they're way off

  • hey there and thanks--you can grab an edition at virtual sheet music DOT COM for short money.

  • Great playing! I love your rendition with the thrills and the tapping!

    Johan Hackman

    Sweden

  • hey benny, i can't wait to see your "Maiden Suites". This JSB stuff is amazing though...

  • Thanks man! Patitucci rocks it no doubt!! he's one of my biggest bass heroes!!

One fun thing with this piece, tune in 5ths and throw a capo at the 12th fret. That's really fun and the ostinato part at the end works out great that way (fingerpicking throughout).

  • very well done!

that was my favorite bass guitar version i've heard so far(maybe besides pattituci's haha)

i really liked the tapping though. i'm working on this piece too.

    keep it up!

  • Thanks!! You are quite right, YJM is endless inspiration.

  • well done brother

is that an Yngwie Malmsteen shirt by the way?
